I really wish whoever made that Restored mod didn’t go out of their way to butcher the music so you have to beat the game twice just to unlock the default OST options (once with Sonic and once with Amy, who’s only unlocked after a Sonic playthrough).
Pretty easy. I think you only need to connect it to a PC via a USB cable that could transfer Data and then run a Software. You could add more games or even other consoles.
Will sell my Mega Drive Mini since the Price has gone up to 100 Euro and the Genesis 2 is supposed to have better emulation and the six button controller, which I personally prefer since it is also pretty useful as a general emulation controller since its USB. I expect that they after a few weeks you will be able to crack it open as well.
I give it two weeks tops. The other classic systems all used basically the same hardware with the same mods, and considering this is likely a last ditch effort from Sega to squeeze a few more bucks out of the mini console fad, I doubt Sega put any R&D into newer, more secure hardware.
Unreal tournament is dead and will never be brought back.
The Fortnite's PVP/BR's team is the team who has working on Unreal Torunament. Which is now on a permanent hiatus, or "soft cancelled," if you prefer, like the PVE aspect of Fortnite.
NerdSlayer Studios made a video about this, if you prefer that instead of reading my ramblings:
Fortnite would deserve it's own thread, because it's been 6 years in development, and after release it was about to be cancelled until because it was overpriced (it was 45$ at the time, and it had even pricier packages) and people cannot be arsed to play something that requires one attosecond of strategizing. It was pretty unique as it blended both tower defense and exploration games, you'd explore and scout for resources and then defend one or more objectives from an horde of enemies which would become more and more stronger.
Epic decided to copy PUBG and announce and make a free PVP mode, made in something like 3 months, and by the UT team, who in the process completely abandoned UT4 and abandoning the core PVE game, which has been on maintenance mode since 2018 or so. In short, they killed two pigeons with one stone.
Which is sad, because PVP fortnite could've been anything but a shitty battle royale, which that concept and map. It could've even just been Unreal Tournament, with CTF and shit where you somewhat build a base. While everyone shits on fortnite and seethes that the original concept has been completely abandoned and shat upon, a clone or an alternative has still to emerge (how hard can it be to make a semi-survival management FPS? unless you count MGS V or Dynasty Warrior Empires something like that, but there's too many differences).
of course, videogamecuckey agrees with epic because he didn't like the PVE aspect to begin with, but then again: >e-celebs' opinions
Neither Unreal Tournament nor Fortnite PVE made enough money to be relevant to stay afloat.
The FPS Arena genre is also a very niche genre, it's not really marketable (as see by that mismanaged failure which was quake champions), but something like a BR, a lazy Last Man Standing on a big Arena-style map with randomized elements, is very marketable for some reason, I find that odd too because in arena you could also have skins for characters and weapons as well as killstreak effects be some lootbox shit.
It doesn't help that Unreal Tournament 3 was considered a Failure by both fans and critics alike, doesn't help that coming from 2004, you got less characters, less game modes, a very forgettable story mode with nobody wanted, a Gear Of Duty art style with only further exacerbated the issues, no ladder because the story replaced the tournament and that further crippled replay value. There is a reason that, according to Steam DB, more people are playing Unreal Tournament and Unreal Tournament 2004 more than they are playing Unreal Tournament 3.
You can somewhat get happy for TimeSplitters 4 and TimeSplitters Rewind, though.
And I like that art-style, it grows old much slower than the hyper-realistic style. (See both Fortnite and TF2 for example, both are pretty old games, but with that style they could have been released yesterday)
tl;dr: unreal tournament and fortnite pve didn't made enough money, even if combined. I hope Time Splitters proves me wrong.
also lol, sonic frontiers. There are free (and unfinished lol) games made by fans that look better than this, to the point that sonic frontiers looks like one of those fake ads.
Wake me the fuck up when there's a 20 year gap between new Yakuza games. View attachment 3350644
WHY, NO, I'M NOT BITTER THAT SEGA MADE AN AMAZING JRPG THAT THEY PROCEEDED TO DO ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING WITH BESIDES CAMEOS, WHY THE FUCK DO YOU ASK?!
Or when they make another Phantasy Star which isn't that bullshit New Genesis. I really liked PSO2, although I really did not cared for the whole MMO part, it was clearly just a decent sp/mp with party RPG game. Really, Phantasy Star Online 2's gameplay was amazing, I really wish that someone made a retroserver already. The only "mmo" aspect in that game were the lobby and raids, which still had a 20 (or 16, depending by the boss) user limit. Oh, and the microtransaction spam, that also was the only MMO part of it. I have yet to find a good alternative to this game as well. The multiplayer part should be using a server browser, so I can also host my own instead of forcing me to a ticking time bomb which are central servers.
Would Sony "save" E3 by announcing that they're releasing a side scrolling Castlevania exclusive and a remake of the first Jak and Daxter game? Of course not ,because remakes and games with gameplay from 1995 aren't exactly system sellers.
use OpenGOAL instead. You need a Jak & Daxter NTSC iso, which you can find everywhere. I'm hyped at the thought of OpenGOAL superseding PCSX2 for PS2 games on PC.
you need a gamepad
You need to drag the iso files into the "extractor.exe," when the process its done, you should see a window with Jak & Daxter. After you close it, just open "GK.exe" to start the game again. It should also come with some localizations and some debug features. Better than any remake and it's native on PC.
Speaking of tower defense: lol, good job lad. you killed your series again.
videogame industry market crash 2: electrical boogaloo, when? the time looks right, everything is overpriced and the market is oversaturated.
Koei and it's really overpriced games. I will never understand that. I don't mind 3D Beat-em-ups, but why would I pay over 100€* to just mash X and occasionally Y and still get fucked until I unlock some severely broken weapon and then use just that for the remainder of the game? "Oh, but the multiplayer" these game's multiplayer die the instant they come out. Go check out Dynasty Warriors 9 or Samurai Warriors 5. Nobody gives a shit about multiplayer for these games. Someone should remind them whatever Gabe said once, about selling a 100 copies of a game at 1$ rather than 4 copies for 100$
*: 70/80 for the base, and then they add a billion dlcs. I get they are costumes, but they also bundle extra weapons and levels with those. and still, 1.99€ for "Feng Xiang in panties" seems like a rip off, "Lol so Wacky" skins are all but what they need to make these games more compelling to their dying fanbase.
Throughout our company’s 27-year history, we have been continually moved by how meaningful gaming experiences can create fond, lifelong memories for players. All of us at PlayStation take special joy in creating unique products and experiences that delight our fans. This includes everything from our consoles and critically acclaimed games, to community challenges such as Seize the Throne and Treat Codes, to digital and live events including State of Play.
Today, I’m pleased to reveal PlayStation Stars, a brand new loyalty program that celebrates you, the player, for being on this ever growing gaming journey with us. PlayStation Stars will be free to join when it launches later this year. Once you become a member, you’ll earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities. Our “Monthly Check-In” campaign simply requires you to play any game to receive a reward, while other campaigns require you to win tournaments, earn specific trophies, or even be the first player to platinum a blockbuster title in your local time zone.
All PlayStation Stars members will have opportunities to earn loyalty points. Points can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds and select PlayStation Store products. As an additional benefit, PlayStation Plus members enrolled in PlayStation Stars automatically earn points for purchases on PlayStation Store.
Also, as part of PlayStation Stars, we are unveiling a new type of reward called “digital collectibles.” Collectibles are as diverse as our portfolio of products and franchises. They are digital representations of things that PlayStation fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as cherished devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation. There will always be a new collectible to earn, an ultra rare collectible to strive for, or something surprising to collect just for fun.
We hope this new program brings to mind past gaming memories while making you excited for the future with PlayStation: commemorating the gaming eras we created together, charting new paths to explore, and bringing players together for global celebrations. This is just the beginning for PlayStation Stars, and the program will continue to evolve over time. We’re currently doing some early tests on this program before launching it later this year in phased regional rollouts.
We hope you’ll enjoy the program once it launches. We’ll be back with more updates in the future. Thanks for reading!
Sony's actually doing something kind of interesting for once, and creating a rewards program called PlayStation Stars. By earning achievements, being the first to platinum a game in your region, or simply playing your games, you can convert any Stars you earn to PlayStation wallet funds to use on the PS Store.
...Or you can spend them on stupid 3D collectible trophies that are tied to an online "trophy room" - which Sony took great care to reiterate over and over that "these aren't NFTs, they aren't tied to the blockchain, these definitely are not and will never be NFTs, we fucking SWEAR" - but, like, other than Moira, who gives a shit about that when you can just get money instead.
Also, calling it now: this will not be retroactive and ONLY tied to PS5 achievements.
I have a sneaking suspicion this might have been SOA's decision to not include anime-related titles.
It makes no sense to NOT include the anime titles that got a US release. Anime now is not like how it was in the 90's where it was closed off from the general public or given a "localized re-branding/re-translation" because "westerners won't get it". Any of those games would probably get a second breath of life now in sales than they did back then. Someone higher up might still have that old mindset of "wtf, we aren't putting this shit in our product, the customer won't like this kind of shit" not realizing that the majority of their fans, in fact, DO like that kind of shit.
I don’t think it’s yet been confirmed that the NA model will not get the Lunar games. It should be pointed out that Final Fight CD, Super Street Fighter II, and Fatal Fury 2 were also part of the recent reveal and have also not been confirmed yet for the NA model, but in all likelihood will be on it.
Oh good. More Genesis games. Not like there are TWO OTHER CONSOLES THAT CAME AFTER THE GENESIS THAT DESPERATELY NEED LOVE, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. Nope, the Genesis is literally the only console they ever made in the 90s. Now consoom the slop, pay-piggies!
I mean I do agree only focusing on the Genesis is dumb, Saturn and Dreamcast have a lot of cool games, but I can sort of understand their logic when you look at lifetime sales of Sega Consoles. The Genesis is the only Sega system to have more lifetime sales than the Wii U, the second worst selling Nintendo system after the Virtual Boy.

despite the fact Nintendo already stated they will not be releasing it outside of japan due to some controversial topics (like the troons, the anti capitalistic propaganda and shit) -- and also it seems that when the fan translation came out, someone (allegedly from Nintendo) sent them a congratulatory letter in a very broken English or some shit. Mother 3 is already out, get a GBA emulator and play that instead of begging the a pathetic whore.
This may be the only fan project they approve of has it hasn't been C&D'd yet, and it also seems they are aware of its existence. but hey, that's a theory, an hastily made, half baked and very discounted theory.

oh, an something that was considered an hot take something like 8 years ago:
indie isn't the future. remember all those abandoned Early Access Indie Title? Or what about games like Hero Siege, which has 100+ $ worth in DLCs and microtransaction? Indie is just as poisonous and shit and bitter as AAA, but with a different coat of paint and more retardation because the one making a "game" is some faggot who is calling you a bigot for not liking his barely functional "my first unity project" snake clone
they banned someone from /v/ for saying that, but I wanna add to that Shitpasta that for every Shovel Knight/Hollow Knight there at least 40 Depression Quests. Gems are still there, it's just that you're gonna have to dig into a pile of shit to find some
>when you realize Earthbound and Stardew Valley really influenced these game developers
>yet will never make anything close to those games
>pic related
Oh god, the whole Farming sim clones. I still have to find one that doesn't have a very intrusive stamina system. There were a few promising ones, but I don't see why I would have to pay 40€ for a game that's barely functional and it's plagued with DLCs and will probably be abandoned the moment the ADHD developer thinks to another game. Maybe "My Time at Sandrock," which I heard fixed a lot of shit that Portia had, but that peanut-head art style, the lightning system being terrible and all those small things turned me down. Also, if I'm not mistaken it's from Team 17, which I heard from some to stay away from. I wonder why.
How many game developers in 2020+ actually remember or played Harvest Moon? Maybe there might be some, but I’m willing to argue they’d confuse it with Animal Crossing.
but one of the main objectives if to get rid of a big corpo wanting to shit all over your town, and the message is the preservation of small, country-side towns. I bet the whole "marry whoever the fuck you want" is due to a bug and then kept as a feature. Flagging some characters are marriable if male/female is haaaard, but I bet it's because of it.
it's a management game, finally something different. Also you need to manage the big dinosaur as well as your village, I tried it and it's pretty cool.
The Sega Master System sold more consoles than both the Dreamcast and Sega Saturn (around 13 to 15 million) cause it was pretty successful in both Europe and Brazil. The 32X on the other hand...
Edit: According to the Master System Compendium by Bitmap Books the SMS actually sold approximately 20 millions units in its lifetime.
... was Sega blowing their load too early rather than waiting for the Sega Saturn to come out because "OH NOES, ATARI JAGUAR U GUISE!!!". It was so much of an abortion, not even Sega themselves gave two fucks about it considering they didn't even have faith in the Sonic title for it (Knuckles Chaotix).
At least with the Sega CD it was Sega dipping their dick into newer technology that they perfected with the Saturn and Dreamcast. There was absolutely ZERO excuse for the 32X existing, especially considering it contains arcitecture from the Saturn to begin with, so it's a redundant "console", albeit a very low powered one.
Funny since Sega did the same with Saturn again. Without the early launch I believe the Saturn would have done better, not that it would have beaten the playstation but launching early:
A: Fucked over the retailers. Sega didn't have enough stocks and so the early launch took more like 2 or 3 months until it was actually completed in the US and also pissed of retailers who hadn't gotten any stock early and cause them to not stock the Saturn at all.
B: Meant there were a large software drought after the surprise launch since most games were only supposed to be ready in like 4 or 5 month for the original release date which would have also featured much more and better games.
I am pretty sure that the Saturn would have done at least Ok in the US without the surprise launch and wouldn't have turned into a complete disaster that they then also abandoned after like 2 years meaning they didn't even have a console in the US market for an additional 2 years.

I wish this meme would die. The decision to not localize Mother 3 had nothing to do with its content; Reggie explicitly said so in a recent interview. The biggest reason was that it was a GBA game released in Japan in 2006; GBA was already almost out the door in Japan, and all but completely dead everywhere else. Taking the additional time to make a localization after that, especially for a game as text-heavy as Mother 3, would make no sense from a business standpoint. Even if we’re being generous and say an official localization would’ve been finished in 2007, that would still be three years after the DS. That would be like a major first party Gamecube game releasing in late 2009.
Of course, there’s nothing stopping them from taking up the translation team’s offer to just use the fan translation officially for free easy money (especially considering Reggie said he and Iwata considered releasing the untranslated Mother 3 on the Wii U VC worldwide), but Nintendo is too proud to even consider something like that.

Yeah, but that doesn't account for ports to future hardware. Even Mega Man Battle Network 5 got a DS port (and then 6 didn't, for some reason).
Plus, what was the deal with never releasing Mother 1+2 GBA worldwide? That came out in '03, and those two games were already translated. The same team that did the Mother 3 translation ported over Mother 1's script into the GBA version and added some QoL enhancements, though never completed Mother 2's, due to the text engine in that game being a nightmare to work with. Still, most of the work was done. Hell, they could have just released Mother 1 on its own for $20, as part of the Classic NES Series.
