E3 (but not really) 2022

I know everyone here is cynical, or trolls, and we've yet to see Sony, Nintendo, and Capcom but COVID really borked just about all of gaming. It also sucks about the rumor that Microsoft is lackadaisical in how they manage their studios, meaning the studios have to manage themselves. Meaning i.e., no Fable, Perfect Dark, Avowed apparently being rebooted, Everwild rebooted too. I'm stuck with Xbox (for the foreseeable future) and they'll have a killer year some year but COVID plus their no-management makes gaming rough. Not swearing gets hard, y'know. Sometimes they're on the tip of my tongue.

There's plenty of games being shown. They just all look boring and are re-skins of the same 5 or 6 things.

You can't blame covid for devs being creatively bankrupt.

I mean the things worth playing. There's always going to niche games, which just about every game that's been shown so far. We all might as well go asleep now and wake up next Summer because that's when the main course(s) will be ready. Everything else is just the appetizers.

No amount of additional development time due to what was lost during covid would salvage most of these shit heaps.

If you genuinely believe this you are delusional.

So now you're moving the goalposts?
I'm not moving goal posts but rather trying to explain the entire mass in general.

I mean it can kind of come off like the analogy of trying to describe an elephant in a dark room since each part is going to be different. But at the end of the day these things exist to get funneled into spread sheets and then the data get put into slides in order to ask a bunch of individuals in another room for more money.

You said it was for investors, I said it was for retailers and journalists.

Your claim is that these shows are this way because of investors, because eventually they get the data from the retailers and journalists. In that case the shows are actually for us since we eventually get the games.

You're using hillbilly logic to try and prove a point you were wrong about. You're better than that.

Also, the demo for Agent 64 is fucking rough.

It relies too much on Goldeneye, having a (as far as I can tell) mandatory auto aim even though this is on PC as well as optional CRT and "fuzzy" filters.

But then you shoot a barrel, and it is your run of the mill Unity explosion and it takes you completely out of it. There's absolutely no heart or character to any of the animations like there were for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

I dunno. Go all the way or don't. Don't go half assed so little things take me out of the experience.

I sent you a PM about it, I think we're approaching it from two different perspectives.

It reminds me of the Xbox 360 HD version of Perfect Dark but just from some Xbox Live Indie Game dev, not a good first impression.

On a side note, Guerilla Games is having another stream around 1 PM PT tomorrow too.

Scorn, The Alters, Laysara Summit Kingdoms and Immortality all looked good in that two hour show. System Shock was okay, but I don't have any attachment to the game, the Alyx mod looked cool but I don't have VR so... Yeah.

The problem is that the XBLA Perfect Dark still had the heart/sould/character of perfect dark.

Agent 64 doesn't even have a crouch as far as I can tell. How much they charge for this will really be the deciding factor for me, anything over than 10 dollar will be way too much.

There's the start of something here, but not enough for a demo to promote an upcoming release. This still feels like a very early alpha build to me. I'm also a bit suspicious of some of their sound effects.
