It'll take a few days for the real protests to begin in my opinion since people were probably starting to stock up and everything a bit into October. The protests will happen unless the government shutdown ends and SNAP gets to function as it normally did again.

I mean black people on facebook were already sharing recipes and everything to maximize the calories per dollar so I think you're underestimating it. You should also consider the sizable amount of white people covered by SNAP.

The rioting will be indoors this time, possibly into parking lots. The rioting will take the form of having massive hissyfits over no gibmedats and trying to leave the store without paying. Possibly raiding food transport trucks.

The earliest theoretical day for snaps to resume is tuesday, but it will likely take until at bare minimum Wednesday for the Democrats to cave, and it might take two to three days for distribution of funds to start. And if there is no reliable way for people to know if their git EBTs besides waiting for a notice in the mail they might try again and again seeing that some people got their funds then riot when it turns out they aren't one of the ones who got funds yet. It will likely be weeks before all funds are distributed and people calm down.

Not enough can be pulled from other agencies since they don't administer Food Stamps and it seems they aren't willing to entertain the ideas of either reducing how much recipients get or tell a certain percentage of them that they won't be receiving anything.

The only people who'll protest are those from gated communities who ship out the chimps and call the cops on them if they see them in their stores.

It's not just precedent. It's the Constitution. That's an Article I power. Once Congress has actually put funding in place, to some extent the executive can direct that spending.

I made a giant batch of chili, heavy on beans, a couple days ago, including cornbread and I will still be eating it tomorrow. It cost $5 excluding stuff I already had. It would have cost about $10-15 if I'd had to buy everything, but I'd have had leftover ingredients for something else.
