It would be interesting if something ended up happening. If some cops stopped people from feeding the poor, then I could see a riot starting. An unofficial soup kitchen might have shady things going on behind the scenes that would result in police shutting it down. Of course, its all how the cops would handle the situation that would decide if that turns into a riot. One big issue with SNAP is that it kept the poor from congregating with other poor in soup kitchens. A bunch of people dealing with each other all of a sudden could lead to friction especially if everyone involved is in a vulnerable, insecure, position. And people organizing such charity locations probably aren't experienced with dealing with large crowds of prideful - yet insecure - people.I've been saying that if you give it a long enough timeline it will escalate. A couple of stores being out of a bunch of stuff during covid is completely different than cutting off the money tap for welfare queens.
I expect one side to capitulate before we go full EEK EEK, but I definitely think before this is over we should see some small pockets of chimping out in blue cities.
Events could follow this course of events:
1) Food stamps run out.
2) Food banks get swamped.
3) Volunteer food banks or soup kitchens are formed. Soup is easy and cheap to produce in large amounts which makes it very useful for feeding a lot of people as cheaply as possible.
4) Interpersonal conflicts and drug deals end up occurring at these locations.
5) Volunteers don't know how to handle it. Some may even be using the place to sell drugs. Obviously they lack whatever permits they'd need.
6) Police get involved and fuck everything up(as they tend to). They'd be pressured by the local bluebloods who like using the poor as pawns but don't like dealing with them.
7) Radicals and the media fan the flames.
This might get interesting.
