Bleed is absolutely getting hit next. There are probably 20 huge threads on r/eldenring begging for a bleed nerf and for some reason beyond my comprehension game devs really listen to reddit and Twitter for primary feedback even though those two websites hold 95% of the internet's retards.

I've defeated Malenia using only double greatswords and quickstep, it took about 3 hours but after everything, I think she's a good secret boss.
Most of her attacks are easy to learn and give attack windows both after and during them. Except her triple slash combo, which starts too quick and covers a massive distance, thankfully, as long as you can dodge the first wave, you can just quickstep through the rest. Her second phases' exclusive attacks can also be dodged easily. The afterimage one you just need to spam quickstep, and the flower you just have to wait until she starts moving slowing and then dodge the fast fall, and just wait a few seconds to dodge the bloom, although you may be able to spam quickstep to get away too.
The best part about her is her weak posture, three jump attacks and she's down. The lifesteal's shockingly not that bad. She heals the same amount of damage she deals you. As long as you don't get hit by her charged attacks or grab, you can easily outdamage her healing.

been playing this game constantly since launch and have spent literally no time doing anything else. They finally fixed the Regalia of Eochaid and Marais Executioner Sword so now I can be the meat grinder I originally wanted to be when I first found these weapons.

EDIT: tangentially related but I really hope they do nerf the moonveil so I don't have to immediately flick a switch in my mind that says 'alright, this person is obviously a faggot so I'm just going to coom scarlet rot all over them and run away until they die, they don't deserve a good fight.'

Is there a way to get the Rivers of Blood memetana early or is it strictly locked behind doing story progression stuff?
I think the only thing that locks him is the Morgott fight. That I know of, there's 2 different ways into the city - beat the draconic tree sentinel, or do Fia's questline. Fia's line involves more bosses and is locked behind Radahn, whereas the tree sentinel only requires you to get 2 great runes. Once you've beaten Morgott, I'm pretty sure you can just sprint through the mountaintops over to where the guy invades you, at the church just before the fire giant fight.

Alternatively, you could just get someone to drop you theirs if they don't plan to use it. I don't really know that From will necessarily nerf much about bleed beyond maybe a reduction in how much poise/stagger it does on-trigger, as that's really the only issue with it in terms of cheese - r1 spam stunlocking bosses. Otherwise, bleed makes a lot of fights easier, but the laser sword, stomp, and azur's comet quite really allowed you to ignore almost all mechanics and win by pushing 1-2 buttons. I think that was more their concern, alongside retuning ashes that invalidated everything else.

Did you use the regular quickstep or the upgraded bloodhound dodge?

Yet the comet laser beam and unlimited mana combo was untouched, lmao.
maybe they thought that one was fine because it requires a lot of extra steps in order to setup whereas hoarfrost stomp and firebeam can both get picked up in the same general spot and one of them doesn't even require you to fight a boss.

I'm genuinely surprised that the moonveil is untouched considering all you need to do to get it is dunk the magma wyrm with rock sling.

Honestly if you you get hit by the comet laser beam it's your own fault. I get that it trivializes some boss fights, but you could already go easy mode on them by being overleveled and bringing mimic tear. This is easily the easiest fromsoft game yet, and the only reason I struggled with certain bosses was by doing them vastly underleveled at a point where every attack one shot me.

The comet could be nerfed while also being kept incredibly strong by just making it cost stamina to continually use, kind of like how the dragon incantations do.
Also, it does very little stagger. That is the main downside of using it. If a boss decides it wants to hit you while you beam it, you just have to hope you kill it before it starts an attack (and you usually do).

Soooo uhhhhhh where do you got after CARIA MANOR and RAYA LUCARIA ACADEMY? Do you go up the RUIN-STREWN PRECIPICE?

Decided to go through the rest of the bosses today, Mohg was straight up dps check and died easily. But I couldn't beat Melania even after 2 hours of trying and changing strategies. I'll probably manage to eventually given enough time, but the teleporting slash spam is bullshit and even if I try to guard rather than luck up on the dodge, she can actually go behind you and rape your hp bar. By the time I get to the second stage I don't have enough time to learn the new attacks before getting killed. I also discovered that bleed is the only way to have damage with short single hand weapons, which is beyond retarded when the damage is just fine to normal enemies but absolutely nothing to bosses.

The absolute most retarded thing about the fight is that blocking still gets her life leech, and it's the same amount as if you were attacked without blocking. What were the devs even thinking? Why can't she just fuck off and attack a tree if she gets healed as long she just needs to hit? So fuck you for wanting to use a shield in the game, either fight against enemies that aoe around the shield or human type enemies that use it to heal up. Great fucking game design there, have entire categories of weapons unusable against bosses.

The damage on the comet and the sword were both lowered, though not to that dramatic of a point. They now give the boss a chance to at least tap you, as far as I can tell, which presumably causes ten seconds of panic rolls from the sorts of people who weren't used to actually seeing any boss attacks.

So the 'safe' way to deal with it is to use a shield for the entirety of the first slash, buffer two rolls towards the boss's left (usually your forward-right) for the second slash, and then to keep the stick tilted forward-right and slowly rotate it down to backwards-right for the third slash without dodging or running. It's very precise movement, and the buffering timing to get the rolls correct is a pain, but it will at least always keep you from getting killed outright.

You also have to conceptualize the boss as an endurance fight with a deceptively small health pool that is in reality a lot bigger than it looks. You can stuff about half of her attacks in either phase if you can learn the tells, and depending on the weapon speed can medium/fast roll out of attacking some that can't be stuffed.

I tried to go to the Caelid Erdtree yesterday. Avatar did exactly that. Level am I even meant to be when I get down there?

Chads use Astel's Meteor in lieu of the comet, though you get that significantly later.

It's one way you can go, takes you right to the Plateau which lets you go to Leyndell proper, and you get a nifty sword on the way for STR/FTH builds. Just beware latin chanting.

Equip bloodhound quickstep (nights cavalry at a bridge in Caelid) it is a very good dodging ash of war. I did not like Malenia as the way to kill her is to stagger her a lot. Now that mimic tear is nerfed I don't know if it is as doable. I resigned myself to memorizing her attack patterns and do the first phase no-hit

Or just spam her with attacks and try and stunlock her into a corner while she heals up on your spirit summons. She is very RNG dependent in both phases. I dislike her as a boss.
