I beat all the people and got all the Elden Rings and haven't touched the game in weeks. It was okay I guess. Not very explory though. I wish it was more like Zelda. Maybe put better combat in Zelda will solve it.

Idk where to go anymore in Elden Ring. I beat Rykard, went to that tower by accident and powered up his Great Rune. Then realized I hadn't powered up Radahn's rune either, so I climbed that tower in Caelid and did so, even though I'm still using Godrick's rune and have been since I got it. It's too good not to use. I think I'm supposed to go to Leyndell now, which I have explored a little bit already, but I have no idea where exactly I should go. I feel like I'm stuck, which I've felt for most of the game but kind of managed to stumble my way through it.
Leyndell is where I went after doing what you did, including accidentally powering up a rune by getting lost in caelid. When you get in to Leyndell(after the cursed tree sentinel) then it becomes fairly straight forward.

Yeah I played a bit more today and found 2 more graces, so I think I'm on the right path. Earlier, when I explored leyndill before beating rykard, I only found the one grace, on the room before you go out to the city wall and fight those white things that blow bubbles at you with their horns.

I had explored leyndell then but I just wasn't running into any graces.

Also fought the tree sentinel in the road (I think) and also fought this weird looking insect thing that broke out of the ground.

I'm gonna play some more and see where it goes. I dig this game. Makes me wanna go back and play dark souls seriously this time.

On PC, the Dark Soul remaster is the way to go, right?

Yes, it's the only way to even get it anyway, but I'd let Elden Ring sit as a slow burn and wait till the online gets fixed in DkS:R. Even if you don't want to play with invaders, you can just stay undead and avoid it entirely. It's really not the same imo without the bloodstains and messages.

Alternatively, you could start with 2 or 3, as the online has been fixed for both of those, but you'd be missing out on a lot if you go backwards. To keep from sperging about it too hard, I think DkS 1 is the better game, but it can be hard to go backwards sometimes. You get used to certain qol things added in later games.

I remember there being a section shortly after the part you mention where I was at street level and just couldn't find a bonfire. Tip: get on the horse and head down the large street towards the center of the city, avoid the (godskin?), then take a right, there's a grace there.

I'm pretty sure the game won't let you use your horse in most of Leyndell. It wouldn't let me iirc, at least.

When I first explored Leyndell, before beating Rykard and finishing Volcano Manor. I fought a few different mid boss type guys in and around the city. One of they may have been a godskin but I can't remember.

Either way, thanks for the tips!

While playing yesterday, I actually managed to unexpectedly bump into Golden shade Godfrey. I walked into this building, no prior grace nearby, no mist door, or any other warning that a boss was coming up. I was down to 3 health flasks because I had been fighting my way through the city and when I ran right into the boss I got a little nervous.

Thankfully, he went down somewhat easily on the first try.

Not far from Godfrey I ran into Morgott, this time with a forewarning, a wall of mist. He was tougher than Godfrey but still not too bad. I used the mimic summon for the fight, which works wonders. I hadn't been using it either. I had been using the knight with the halberd or the archer chick with the pet wolf summons.

I didn't realize how awesome the mimic summon is and I've been having it for Idk how long now.

I did a tiny bit of exploring on the mountaintop of giants and the enemies there are strong as hell! I'm gonna have to take it slow and see what kinda items I can find there, maybe level up a little bit, before going too deep.

Yeah that's how I've been playing Elden Ring. I have the bloodstains/messages turned off and I play in offline mode.

The messages, while useful for finding hidden items, were kinda getting on my nerves. There were way too many of then and all but a few had pretty useless information in them. I had a hard time just passing them up without reading them, too compulsive I guess, so I just turned them off. Pretty early into the game too. I don't think I had made it out of Limgrave yet when I turned the messages and bloodstains off.

I could have used the multiplayer help for a few of the bosses, and PVP sounds like it would be pretty damn fun, but I wasn't too thrilled to have to deal with all that for this first playthrough. This is basically my first souls type game, I didn't think I'd be skilled enough to take on pvp just yet.

I'm familiar enough with the controls and the way things work now. I'll probably make a new character eventually and give the pvp/multi-player a chance. I think I've played enough to not stink too much.

Yellow Godfrey doesn't seem to have a nearby grace. The run back on that fight is a pain in the ass because you have to run past a couple packs of the tree people so I was always down a flask or two by the time the fight started.

What pissed me off after that fight: after killing Yellow Godfrey, I had enough runes to level up but I wanted to take a quick moment to explore that big room now that it was clear.

So I look around and for some reason I jump on that big root outside. It was big so I thought I was safe. Somehow, I fell off jumping to the root next to it, but still, no big deal. I'll just come back and collect my runes next to where I fell. The game is pretty good about putting your runes in an accessible spot whenever you fall to your death.

Not this time though. They weren't on the root that I fell from. They were one story down, on the corner ledge of the building.

I stood on the root so that I could try to jump to that ledge, then use the map to warp outta there.

I jumped right past the ledge into the hole below lol. Lost 120k runes or so. Definitely enough for a level up. Oh well.

I just finished the bosses in Leyndall that give you access to the Mountaintop of Giants. What's a good place to level up a character at this point in the game?

I had been using the vulgar militiamen outside of the Beastial Sanctum in Greyoll's Dragonbarrow. Since the Mountaintops are now unlocked, I was wondering if anybody knew somewhere better to farm runes?

The online in DS1 is officially dead forever.
You freaked me out and I googled it, only Prepare to Die is offline forever. Remaster is still up though, and PtD has been a dead game since the remaster came out. I've also discovered that Remasters servers have been up since 6 days ago anyways, so its a moot point.

That is exactly why I love the messages. Most of them are functionally retarded, but seeing "Down, ahead" with a shit load of appraisals near a cliff, and bloodstains encircling it is funny every single time. To each their own tho. Get ready for some bullshit after Morgott lmfao. If you wanna grind out levels, there's a particular thing you can do (You could do it earlier) but it involves a location you have probably not been to, that is fairly late game and pretty spoilery if you just lookup how to get there, since getting there is meant to be a pretty big secret. If you're interested just look up Mohgwyn Palace Bird Farm Other than that, easy runes are pretty hard to come by at this point.

XP grinding is as simple as summoning Invaders at the First Step, also the only consistent way to PVP

I think the most efficient XP farm is still the bird farm. If you're not a high enough level yet, the ball farm in Caelid can be done at lvl 1.

I encountered one message that was pretty good, it was on the button of the elevator going up to alteus plateu. You know the one, the elevator you just came up with, the one with that long fucking animation.
