Oh so Nightreign is a standalone thing. I just sort of assumed it was another Elden Ring expansion. I was quite annoyed that I’d finally got round to picking up Elden Ring and the expansion only for a new one to be announced days later.

By some miracle I’ve managed to not be spoiled on much of anything for Elden Ring. Which is awesome as I got to re experience the joys of soulsbourne exploration last night by spending a couple of hours being completely lost because I missed one fucking door. God I’ve missed these games.

Even not immediately thinking of this as a cashgrab this doesn't work. 15 minutes grinding for boss works in a system where gear matters more than skill. In ER better gear means less time to make mistakes/not as bad punishment but you still need to know the boss well, which will be hard when you need to spend 15 minutes at minimum between runs (with the later bosses taking 30 and 45 minutes).
ER itself is too fucking slow. The devs need to speed up animations massively so you could be more reactive. Not to mention buff up health so you wouldn't die in three hits.

Basically the only way they can make it playable for sane people is do what that journo did to "fix" Sekiro's end boss. But that wouldn't happen and instead you'd only have streamers and mega autists play the game since they will be the only ones with the amount of patience and time to waste on a glorified asset reuse.

Do you guys remember when a running jump in this series meant you had to stop and think for a minute, for fear of dying. You know like a fantasy adventure and not an anime action game?
I remember how jumps in dark souls 2 felt like throwing a heavy sand bag.
Part of the appeal of the game, I think, is that it's more down to earth fantasy (literally) where characters can't do ridiculously athletic things like an anime.

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, but as more details have come out I'm off the train for this one boys.

I could see this working if it was like clearing chalice dungeons to get to the boss, but the open world with the battle royale circle does not sound nearly as fun. Sounds like it would get old pretty fast. I'm also not happy that they haven't mentioned PvP. What's the point of a basically multiplayer-focused souls game without even the option for invasions?
Kind of agreed here, granted I don't like invading or being invaded but it's still a part of the series.

Missed opportunity too, the new formula sounds amazing for gravelord trolling. Making enemies for difficult, assisting the boss, stealing items, and then if someone beats you you give a huge payout.

They need to tighten up the combat for this to be viable.

People are going to be really really annoyed if their run ends due to one of From's infamous one hit grab moves that somehow happen when you're behind the boss.

Rouges typically don't have combat like this for a reason.

the bosses in this seem designed for multiplayer co op which means more of their attacks will cover a large area and their AI will be more careful as to where it positions it's self during a fight (so basically not allow it's self to be surrounded or have someone firing magic missiles at it from 1 mile away while some one else is in their face with a great shield taking all the damage/keeping the agro)

They will allegedly be scaled down for offline play but I suspect it will be lazy number changes.

I like FromSoftware, but miss me with this new game.
Looks and feels like a quick cash-grab with extra slop on top.
Disgusting.

People think from software is immune to corruption but forget they changed the genders in Elden ring from Male/Female to b0Dy tYpE 1/BodY tYPe 2.
Also in a later update they added a bunch of black hairstyles.

Less that and more, "Why didn't we get the stake driver, that grappling hook, and the ability to vault walls?"
I agree that Elden Ring should've had more methods of moving around such as limited rock climbing, grappling, swimming, gliding, and vehicles (other than the horse). If implemented, it would've added a lot to the open world part of the game and even some bosses would've benefited from it.
Imagine if one of the bosses had been a chariot free for all in a Leyndell arena where you ride out of the gates whipping your horses and firing arrows at the other chariots and you could even jump of yours and onto theirs/destroy them.

Or if you could swing from a vein and land on the fire giant's back while they move around and effectively ride them.
Also, it could've made the ice lakes slippery to walk and have your player fall over if they try to change direction too quickly without the iron-rusted ring equipped.
All of these wouldn't have broken too far away from the soulsborne formula so long as it still felt like the player had to put enough effort into doing these stunts without being magically able to move 100X and more powerfuly than they could when just walking around.

I only recently looked into Nightreign since I didn't give a shit, it looks like they're reusing assets mixing some parts of their souls games together into a standalone multiplayer game? I saw Nameless King and just...sighed.

He's one of the coolest looking Dark Souls bosses regardless
I will agree on that, which makes it return to Elden Ring just silly. Even if he returned in a new Dark Souls game (iirc Fromsoft and Miyazaki specifically said that they done with Dark Souls related games, at least for the time being, so I assume either this is the real last one in the contract with Bandai or Bandai told them to keep pumping them out) it would ruin the character.

I saw a reddit thread of the usual fromsoft cocksuckers insisting that anyone complaining is a fake fan.
I guess people are supposed to like it just because it's fromsoft? Even if it's a completely different game skinwalking as a souls game? Redditors gonna reddit, I suppose.

But really, do go take a look at r/eldenring. It's like a competition of who can suck fromsoft's cock the deepest.

Best selling Souls was DS3 with over 12 mil. ER sold over 25 mil. Just some food for thought anytime you see someone zealously defending this new asset flip. There is a very high chance they have never played anything else made by From.
I have read someone somewhere (probably plebbit let's be real) saying that Armored Core should've stayed dead because it took development time away that could be spent on Dark Souls or Elden Ring or whatever the fuck. These aren't Fromsoft fans, they're souls fans. They probably never even heard of King's Field, Shadow Tower, Another Century, fuck me I wouldn't be surprised if they never heard of Demon Souls before the remake.

Oh no, they have heard of Demon's Souls. They love to pretend that they have played it, because they saw a Youtuber like Vaati talk about it, which is basically the same as playing it. Just like how they are King's Field fans, because they watched an essay about KF4 (there were no other games in the series as we know). They are just like Earthbound fans.

For some more perspective, and since I mentioned sales, Demon's Souls sold over 1 million worldwide by the time Dark Souls came out, so over a 2 year timeframe. Over 20% of those sales were Japanese. In the English speaking part of the internet, the community was predominately made up of individuals on places like Gamefaqs and 4chan that had experience with From Soft's other titles or had an interest in JRPG's already. Dark Souls sold more than Demon's Souls worldwide after just 4 months. Skip ahead to today and Dark Souls 1 has sold upwards to about 10 million while Demon's Souls sales never grew that much. Demon's Souls remake has sold about 1.4 mllion sales, roughly similar to the original game.

So yes, they are Dark Souls fans. And even then, they are probably just Elden Ring fans larping as Dark Souls fans, just like how Dark Souls fans larp as Demon's Souls fans, or King's Field fans if they are feeling especially bold.

There are a lot of peopel insisting that r/eldenring is being ungrateful and it's one of those things where there are more people talking about fans being toxic than actual toxicity.

Did you hear that? If you didn't play this ancient game released in 1994 back in the day you are a FAKE fan and a larper. Fuck you normie and leave us TRUE and HONEST fans alone.
