Jesus fucking christ that video. He sounds like an insecure 15-year-old trying to channel Light from Death Note in an attempt to intimidate school bullies. The voice especially.

First reaction on seeing the video was "hey what's his problem he isn't bad-looking or anything" but then I heard that voice and the way he talks. God damn, so beta, so creepy. The way he talks reveals such a revolting mixture of narcissism, self-pity, entitlement, psuedointellectualism... he clearly believes himself superior to literally everyone else (probably fostered by his wealthy upbringing) and now, like a child, he's lashing out and proving he is in control goddamnit and nobody else.

Of course he just had to do this with a gun because he's an anime character and nobody can stop him and he can kill anyone he wants. There's so many layers of crazy here it's a full-on crazy buffet, I feel like a kid in a candy store...

When he says: "I hate them... I hate them so much" it really enters uncanny valley for me. He sounds like he's trying desperately to put some emotion into it. Make it sound as if he's angry. But he still sounds so very robotic and unemotional. It's creepy as fuck the way this guy talks.

Yeah his speech is really stilted and gives me the strong impression that he's intentionally trying to come off a certain way. The way he pauses and looks off to the side in some videos makes me think he's intentionally trying to come up with what to say next, and how to say it... he's clearly trying hard to enounciate in such a way that makes him appear intelligent and measured, and in control of himself, but it's crumbling because he's clearly in ridiculous emotional turmoil at this point.

My favorite part though is that he's intentionally talking like an anime villian because he thinks it will somehow give him an air of majesty, but he can't step outside himself enough to see that it doesn't work at all. It's like when Jace thinks saying "YOU WILL BE THE LAST SKULL YOU EVER SEE" is somehow threatening, but this guy is just intelligent enough to pull it off in such a way that he appears creepy instead of laughable.

I only just heard about this on the news up here in Canada on my way to work this morning and holy shit, was this guy such a loser! He's wealthy, moderately good looking, drive's friggin' BMW apparently, and if he can't get a date, then clearly there's something severely wrong with his personality that turns women off. In his Manifesto he recalls a time where he stayed with his father, stepmother and siblings in Morocco, in an old kashba in Tangiers. His stepmother's father lived in a huge mansion there that he recalled looking like a castle. He was fascinated by it because a Bond scene was filmed there, and he was a huge fan of James Bond movies as a kid.

I think he probably saw them all and identified a lot with the villains in those movies. The heroes probably reminded him too much of those "jerks" at school who all the girls showed interest in. Those jerks who he tried so desperately to be more like, who's acceptance he craved. For pretty much the whole first part of the Manifesto all he does is write about how he tried to be cool and get involved with the "in-crowd" where it's all hip and happening. His mother has to get him playdates with the cool kids (well into his teens even because he's that much of a sperg) and at one point the nanny literally pushes him on the street and forces him to befriend some skater kids in the neighborhood he was too afraid to approach them by himself.

He had a very interesting life, saw a lot of the world and went to amazing places. His family seems pretty cool. His grandfather was a journalist and photographer who covered D-Day and the moment the concentration camps were freed. His mother used to date George Lucas, he went to movie premiers, he slept in film locations and visited historic places. He met his heroes and walked where they walked. But he never moved on. He never got past those childish obsessions with heroes and villains, right and wrong, good and bad.

The impression that I got was that he is very much a child in a grow up's body. Very autistic, very much inverted in his own little fantasy world. He wanted to be a hero but he couldn't. He did not land on the beaches of Normandy, he did not produce movies, and he never traveled the world on his own merits. Surrounded by the rich and famous, he somehow still felt out of place. He wasn't cool, he wasn't successful. He had all the luck in the world, had an amazing childhood and yet throughout it all what he seems to remember most is all those who somehow wronged him. His stepmother, for being too strict. His father, for being too absent. Girls, for not fucking him. He remembers all the little fights, the arguments, the many times he broke down and cried (a habit he never grew out of).

He remembers all the little misfortunes and how in his own little autistic mind, this made him suffer. He whines about injustice when everyone with half a brain who did not grow up in such immense luxury can only be envious of the kind of life he lead.

TL;DR: He's a sad little man held hostage by his own extreme narcissism, angry at the world for not giving him recognition and sex even though he had all the means, the looks, the talent and connections to easily acquire both.

Well, if he saw that they are some popular partying sluts then why would he want to get to know them. They are the kind of girls that don't get attached to you and change boyfriends all the time if someone better approaches them.

There are probably a few who'd break the generalization but I don't really want to nitpick. My point was more that he actually more or less did the rejecting and judged them before he got to know them. It was probably some psychological defense mechanism to prevent him from getting tangled up with some girl who would hurt him, but then it seemed like he'd flip it around and blamed them for some hypothetical rejection he made up in his head.

I do wonder why he didn't consider other types of girls, though. Was he so set on the hot sorority archetype from the movies that he didn't consider trying for a girl who might share some of his interests?

Who knows. It's not uncommon for people with a lack of irl experience to gleam information on how things are from movies and TV shows (eg. See Chris' Third Date Rule).

Elliot was a guy who had a fear of approaching people and lacked friends, it's not unreasonable to think he was one of those people. So many movies show the guy getting the girl that looks like a supermodel, that that's probably all he fixated on.

Honestly, read one page and you've read them all. His entire existence can be defined as "mad about no gf"; that's all there is to his entire personality and it was all he ever ever talked about.

There was an article I saw where Elliot frequented some message boards much like this one where the theme was PUA (Pick-Up Artists), and Anti Pick-Up Artists (who talk about all of the rip off con artists trying to sell books/videos on how to score ladies). The Antis are split amongst calling Elliot a Hero or a Douchebag, and the PUA board is actually trying to exploit this tragedy for financial gain by going "Elliot would have scored a hot babe and never have gone on his killing spree if only he had bought our DVDs on how to pick up hot chicks! NOW ON SALE!". IMO, the PUAs have to be even lower than the Westborough Baptist Church for trying to exploit a tragedy. At least the WBC isn't trying to make money off the corpses of murdered people. F*cking ghoulish!
