He hit the nail on the head. He is correct that we are being fed bullshit from all sides. Some sides are just more proficient and experienced at the game, especially the one that smells of vodka and wishes too be an empire again.

I often see people say the only reason people are leaving Xitter is because they're pussy shitlibs who are afraid of free speech.

I want to list some non-political ways Elon has ruined Twitter:
  • External links get throttled because Elon is afraid of people leaving his site
  • New privacy policy to allows third parties to train AI on your content
  • Blocking has been rendered useless (normies like blocking)
  • Bluechecks are forced at the top of replies, a form of pay-to-win that is often exploited by OF whores and crypto scammers
  • Ad revenue sharing incentivizes rage bait and other lowest common denominator slop
  • The site's owner shoves his own posts into people's feeds even if they don't follow him
  • The bot problem has gotten noticeably worse
And instead of fixing any of the above, they're adding bloat "features" nobody asked for like "Grok integration" to "explain posts"

Are there good things about X? Spaces and Community Notes are genuinely great and pretty much the saving grace of the platform. Too bad they both predate Elon so he can't take credit for them :story:

You have to wonder how facetious people even on this forum are. Do Null or his jannies really possess the tools to effectively mitigate how many of these misinformation actors are on this site? How can anyone here really tell how genuine anyone else is? I've only interacted with a handful of people on this website who Ive felt were honest with me, just to be anecdotal for a second.

We should all be very, very concerned. Not just with Elon now having some federal authority but because of the precedent it sets. What the fuck is the truth anymore?

If you point out what they are clearly doing, they will label you a devil. The alienation and void from social connections and meaningful life experiences must be severe for someone to engage in this self degrading/destructive behavior. If I had to take a layman guess, I'd say self-destructive behavior is a manifestation of fear and anxiety. Like, you are afraid the lady you are asking out on a date will reject you, so you get real drunk, pee your pants, and fall down. Just blame it on the booze and never really find out if she would reciprocate your romantic advances. In a way this squashes any anxiety.

There is no shortage of useful idiots that will propagandize for free.
Insecure people feel the need to huff and puff externally to cope with the contradictions they are juggling internally. Psychologists call it "denial," and keeping things tamped down into the subconscious comes at a maintenance cost; i.e. constant 24/7 redundant/monotonous circle-jerking news consumption and constant straw-man building so there's something to "righteously" tear apart. The U.S.A. as a whole is in collective denial that the post-Bretton Woods economic world order is in rapid decline, and is doubling down on obsolete methods akin to attempting to walk across a bridge that was burned down years ago.
