I would guess it's because Elon wants to have his cake and eat it too: he wants to have Internet arguments with his detractors while also not having it damage his reputation. The words of Elon Musk have the power to move markets. If he did his Dittman sperging under his own name, his stock prices would likely have dropped much more than they already have. By using the Dittman alias, he creates just enough plausible deniability that his investors and business partners don't get spooked. He can hold court in this hazy space where he's recognized but not held to account.Assuming the Adrian Dittmann account actually is an Elon alt, my question is: does Elon want people to know the account is his?
- If no, why did he not bother to even attempt masking his voice in Spaces? I get that it's fun to call Elon a retard (which he often is), but he just is not so retarded that he wouldn't realize his voice is distinct enough to recognize in the wild. If you think he is that retarded, you are that retarded.
- If Elon does secretly want people to know the account is his, why even bother making the account??? What are you suggesting the motive is here? Is he doing a little trolling?
If Dittman is really an impersonator he's one of the most brilliant of all time. He doesn't just nail the voice and the mannerisms but the bizarre way Musk thinks. When he got the "first kiss" question he said "How do you make someone kiss you? You psyop them into doing it." If an impersonator tried to imitate Musk, even a really good one, I'd expect him to say something like "I can't remember, I've had chicks all over me since elementary school" that would reflect Musk's public image, not come up with something so freakish and off the wall.
