I think I recall Dawkins openly saying he thought Islam was actually worse than Christianity, which these people have seethed about ever since. Islam is the brown people religion (they're retarded so they forget Chechens exist) so you're not allowed to criticise it.

Among the Four Horsemen, Sam Harris disparages Islam in the strongest terms, often redolent of American right-wing thinkpieces (e.g. he applauded racial profiling in airports). That's why he has no mainstream exposure. Dawkins is the only mainstream atheist who criticizes Islam yet more-or-less gets away with it.
The point must be reiterated: Islam's reformations have only made it more radical and theocratic, and nearly the entire culture of the Islamic world is heavily dictated by the words of the Pedophilic Warlord. For any faults the major atheists may have with Christianity, Islam takes those problems and amplifies it tenfold; the culture formed by Christendom provided the grounds for secular liberalism to flourish, after all.
The difference is that many Christians accept theistic evolution (basically "evolution exists, but God was the ultimate cause of life", which is what Darwin believed). Muslims have to accept that humans were literally made out of dust 6000 years ago.

they are just as dodgy towards islamic atrocities as they are of communist ones. Something, something, muh crusades, muh salem witch trials. no Stalin, no Pol Pot.
Mein Kampf never once discusses a Jew-killing crusade. Or even the killing of any Jews for that matter.
"Gradually I began to hate them" was a part of the book for a reason. Hitler openly stated that part of his disdain for the Jewish peoples was that he regularly found them to be Marxist scoundrels who would treat their ideological opponents as morons and then play dumb about their malicious beliefs when confronted about them, and then seeing that this sort of malicious behavior was common throughout historical records. It's not hard to see how a war veteran embittered by the internal conflicts that toppled his country would despise the groups that fought against his country and made his suffering be for nothing.
It's weird how they seem to assume that catholicism supports nazism, especially in the light of Mit Brennender Sorge. (The only Encyclical not written in Latin and its a complete rejection of nazism)
Especially when every single thing Christians are accused of, Muslims do and do it worse, as well as things Christians don't do at all any more. Misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, killing people for leaving the religion, literal slavery, etc.
