As you can imagine there was backlash. But here's what AA president David Silverman had to say.
"The hypocrisy is unbelievable, millions of American children are forced to go to church under the threat of being denied meals, losing household privileges, having their college tuition cut off, or being kicked out of their homes. Many atheist adults are forced to go to church under threat of divorce or lose custody of their children. We must ask the question, who are the real bullies? Those who are unafraid to stand up for our views on billboards, or those who destroy families from the inside out?”
What I'd like to know is how does he know this? Unfortunately yes, there are some bad Christians who do this, but he's putting it off like it's the majority. There was also a news coverage I found where the AA explained the reason behind this. Go on and find the hypocrisy and bullshit.
