We'd have people like Ted Kaczynski or Timothy Mcveigh instead.

Seriously, have these people never heard of Charles Manson? Ted Bundy?

Unhinged people will kill because they can't help it at worst, or like it at best. To them, religion is but a convenient banner that puts a nice frame around their otherwise indiscriminate violence.

Even The Amazing Atheist enjoys Christmas. It's clear that these guys are just Scrooges.

Well, American Atheists just put up their new billboard for the season.

As you can imagine there was backlash. But here's what AA president David Silverman had to say.

"The hypocrisy is unbelievable, millions of American children are forced to go to church under the threat of being denied meals, losing household privileges, having their college tuition cut off, or being kicked out of their homes. Many atheist adults are forced to go to church under threat of divorce or lose custody of their children. We must ask the question, who are the real bullies? Those who are unafraid to stand up for our views on billboards, or those who destroy families from the inside out?”

What I'd like to know is how does he know this? Unfortunately yes, there are some bad Christians who do this, but he's putting it off like it's the majority. There was also a news coverage I found where the AA explained the reason behind this. Go on and find the hypocrisy and bullshit.

Also Dan Baker, president of the FFRF, apparently released a new book. Make of it what you will.

Oh no, how horrible! Some children are expected to go to church with their families on Christmas. The next thing you know they'll be expected to visit their grandparents' house or sing carols!

His second point strikes me as especially unfounded. If one is so adverse to the idea of religion or sitting in a pew for between one and two hours, why would he marry a religious person in the first place? I was under the impression that marriages are supposed to be based on—amongst other things—something called respect.

I think that he is talking about redpillers who think that religious women are more easily manipulated

"I'd rather live in an imperfect world where everyone is free to practice whatever religion they want than a world with no religious freedom."
"lol no"

"id rather everyone just got over god and realised he was real"

That's a great typo, haha,

Also, notice how the two first posters are from the US and the euphoric is from the UK. I don't want to sound prejudiced (but then again its the UK so I don't really give a fuck), but I've noticed that people from the UK tend to be far more bitter and resentful of religion than their US counterparts, at least if online comments are any indication. I guess it's probably because religion is so subdued in the UK compared to the US, but holy shit, Brits can get really salty over God.

You can hate religion, but don't cram it into every facet of your personality. These people are shells. They're honestly no better than the people they criticize.

It really does seem that euphorics only go after the "good-natured" religious people that are only trying to use their faith to help support other people. They always scream and cry about how radical and intolerant religious people are, but they never actually try to confront the zealous assholes, but instead make condescending remarks whenever they see a regular person bring up their faith. Like, is it because they're just too socially retarded to realize that makes them look like assholes or what?

They're lazy ignorant people who mimic talking points others have said, the same others that can only prove themselves to not be fucking failures by taking on easy targets like creationists and conspiracy theorists.

tl;dr they're trollshielding fundamentalists.

Just how many atheist adults are forced to go and how many choose not to without consequence? How many even just go because why the hell not? Also, I'm pretty sure some would give God a run for his money in being the most unpleasant character in fiction.

As far as doing things go, one can justify a child going to church by means of not leaving them home alone where they could do something bad or have something bad happen to them (plus wouldn't leaving your kid home alone be something frowned upon?)

If they were to go up against a zealous asshole, that requires 1) looking for one and 2) being able to handle the stress in going against said zealous asshole. Really, one may as well ask if any of these euphorics are willing to leave their comfort zones and tackle the zealous asshole.

I decided to look up this Michael Sherlock, to see who this esteemed figure in modern Atheist thought is. Turns out he's a blogger who has a few books published by such well-regarded presses such as the Charles River Press. He also likes to make memes—such as the one above—where he quotes himself saying some sort of variation on the statement "religious people are stupid." Some of the few memes of his that aren't just variations on that statement include pretty bad misinterpretations of Scripture, such as this one:
sherlock_matthew_27.jpg

To those unaware, he is referring to this event from when Christ was on the Cross:
Matthew 27:45–46 said:
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

He was quoting Scripture, not talking to Himself. Pretty unfortunate that someone who bills himself as an expert on the subject of religion whose books you should read and study would make such an obvious error. But maybe there is something to this guy. After all, Dawkins said something nice about him once or twice.

Oh boy Dan Barker. Forgive me if we've touched on this guy yet but, you know, he used to be a "Christian" minister. Gather 'round, everybody, and let me read you a story:

By the way, the title of Barker's new book is torn straight out of a quote from Richard Dawkin's sickly excuse for literature known as The God Delusion, wherein Dawkins makes his infamously obnoxious, condescending statement that:

"God is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction... a petty unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."

So anyway Dawkins wrote the forward for Barker's new book.

Making memes of yourself is shit-tier. That's aalewis level (the redditor who invented euphoric atheism or at least named it).

What's also shit-tier is picking quotes where you don't understand the concept you're making fun of. The doctrine of the Trinity is, perhaps, the core belief of Christianity, and at least one of the more fascinating concepts presented in the religion. It is neither easy to understand nor to believe in.

It's a particularly dumb target to attack in general, because it's a purely spiritual belief that harms absolutely nobody.

Considering the Sunday's image, I'm pretty sure some Christian Sunday's end up being less of crying child and more of "another bland day sort", same for the atheist Sunday. Also the atheist one asking if Jesus died or took a cat-nap may as well forgot the word "resurrect". And that one with the pointing atheist guy, the "you're no better than religious zealots" stems from being the sort of atheist that thinks he's more intelligent than the religious guy because of "rationality" and "not believing in God". That sort of image will just make other atheist cringe, especially since some atheist would no doubt know of Christians and other religious people who would be for things like LGBT rights and abortion while also being against faith healing and child abuse.

See, this is why I have to have a beer while reading this shit.
Looking at all these memes and all, it would make one want a drink before gazing upon more of the euphoric edge.

Not only is making memes of yourself shit-tier, it's also narcissistic is it not? With a person like him proclaiming to be an expert, one would wonder if they even try to read religious text without bias and try to understand what it means besides their own thought of it being illogical. Besides, trying to understand a religious system such as say Hinduism or a religious concept such as the Christian Trinity isn't going to be easy. Beyond being confused at first glance, there is more to these systems that one would have to actually understand besides just trying to make their own thought on some religion or religious concept.
