Although I completely agree that Swedenborg was amazing. He even founded his own church.
Swedenborg didn't mean to found a church though (he was publishing anonymously until he was discovered to be the author of the theological works he produced) -- what he wanted is a reformation (not necessarily founded by him, IIRC) in Christianity. Others founded churches based on what he wrote later.

At any rate, his life showed a lot more fulfillment and involvement in the sciences than that of the stereotypical proud basement dwelling neckbeard.

After the Easter suicide bombing targeting Christians in Pakistan yesterday, Redditors were quick to respond with stunning empathy and insight. Including this guy.

Just saying, it seems kind of insensitive to go full-on Fedora Avenger when the victims were specifically targeting for their religious beliefs. Also, I love how he keeps insisting he's not salty but then proceeds to say the saltiest things imaginable.
"It's not that different from people who find the same fulfillment and meaning with My Little Pony."

Oh the irony.

If a euphoric atheist becomes a victim in a terrorist attack involving religion, the first thing he'll say is,"Wow fuggin' wealigious peeple man amirite?!"! to a mortally wounded victim next to him.

That reminds me: was what we now call euphoric atheism a big thing on the internet back in the late 90s/early 00s?
Yes, but like everything else on the internet at that time, it was moderately more intelligent. Being online before 2000, and especially before 1995, required a lot more time, intelligence, and money than it does today, so as a whole the net was composed of more civilized people. Even if you were an atheist and a complete douchebag about it, you still had to put your views into actual words and engage in actual dialog with people. What we know of as "memes" today didn't really come into being until several years into the 21st century.

Here's a random sampling of internet atheism, circa 1998.

I could only get through half of that before I just wanted to smack the bejesus (no pun intended) out of that guy. How about, "all extremists suck", nobody cares what you believe as long as you're not forcing it on others?"

Who wants a beer?

Today: "fak u 4 not bean euphoric enuff u peese of shit"

Some euphoric was being a spergy asshole on an article about the murders of four Bible translators in the Middle East (unsurprisingly, they were murdered by Islamic extremists for the crime of trying to convert people from Islam). I was going to cap all of his comments but then realized that this sums it up pretty well:

As much as I generally think trying to convert people from one religion to another is the dumbest fucking shit humans can do, I think it is an objective fact that simply speaking is the most fundamental of human rights.

I have absolute contempt for shit countries that are run by theocracies and that do not allow idiots to try to convert people to their idiot religions.

Wise words, certainly, but I love that this is from a euphoric atheist FB page. Because these words certainly apply to that group, too ;)

Also, another thing I've noticed is how a lot of fedoras smugly condescend to Christians, Jews, Muslims, and other religious people who are liberal and tolerant with their faith. Whenever a Christian says they believe that atheists can go to heaven if they have a good heart, or a Jew wholeheartedly embraces gay people, or a Muslim speaks about how they cherish their non-Muslim friends, some neckbeard will inevitably go "Uh, well the Bible/Torah/Quran says..." and call them out for following a modern and tolerant version of their faith.

Excuse you, why are you so salty? What, do you prefer it that, if instead of open-minded and progressive religious people, we had more fundamentalists? I'm pretty sure that euphorics are just pissy that people are choosing to reform their faiths instead of converting to atheism. There's no other reason why a non-religious person would disapprove of religious people being more open and accepting towards them.
Do you have any links to online examples?

Not on me right now (because I don't really feel like digging through my browser history to find some), but I've seen it on Reddit a bunch. The next time I see someone doing it I'll post examples.

Special mention to that last one though. If one were to reword it a bit, that would be exactly what the militant atheists do to religious people.

Here's a FB page link for anyone adventurous. Badly drawn euphoria sure to make one's eyes bleed.

Ok, two last things for tonight. First off, has anyone ever noticed how militant atheism seems to effect one's facial structure? It's like they seem to look perpetually smug, angry, sad, and/ or annoyed. Just look at the faces of Dawkins, Maher, MacFarlane, Gervais, TJ, or any other euphoric. Even becoming a militant atheist changes the face. I've noticed this with MrRepzion. Look at how he looked in his videos when was a Christian. Now look at him in his current videos. He looks so much more smug and irritating.

Last off, aren't atheists like the ultimate griefers? They will actively seek out religious videos, pictures, posts, and websites, stuff that they know is going to make them salty, and dump their shit all over it. They even seem to have the ability to bring religion into any conversation or topic, even if it's as far from religion as you can possibly be, they will fine a way to bring it front and center. Like, if it disagrees with you or if it's going to piss you, just stay away from it. (Yes I know, I'm being a bit hypocritical by doing what I do here, but I'm just trying to make a point here. To the reasons why, that will have to be another post for another time.) But no, they come in and shit on people who think differently then they do because they just can't get the fuck over themselves, so they got to try to make others feel as miserable as they do. Like seriously, just go fuck yourselves.

(Rant over)
