so far the best entries this year have been the automatic qualifiers

Holy fuck Cyprus' entry is so gay, it's gross.

Gotta love the toxic positivity like it's a course correction from last year.

Anywa,y I do like a handful of songs this year but I mainly watch this shit to make fun of it and listen to a few bangers here and there.

I look forward to my country gimping out of the semi finals on Thuesday.

Edit; Omg the fucking hosts are so cringe

I hadn't paid attention this year and just checked out a recap. Oh nooo, I can feel the clusterfuck performances and bad vocals reeling me in once more.
I might have to watch the next semifinal to see my cuntry embarrass itself and hopefully a sequel to the Israel drama. It's highly homosexual they're apparently hiding the director now so the crowd can't boo him again, that was probably the best moment of last year's eurovision.

was surprised belgium and cyprus didn't get in, considering how popular they seemed in the lead up. really happy with iceland and ukraine getting through but i miss the original ukraine staging

zero chemistry between these two and super jarring when hazel was 'interviewing' estonian and cypriot reps? super awkward, would have thought they would have done some prep beforehand

Azerbaijan was particularly bad to the point where I couldn't tell if he was off key or not. His signing threw me for a goddamn loop.

Me too, especially Ukraine. I really liked that one.

For retarded reasons I'm half assing my interest in San Marino's entry this year for the only reason being I used to be into Eiffel 65 as a kid.

The Green Room interviews were genuinely so hard to watch. Especially with Estonia. Cyprus also looked mad uncomfortable with Hazel. Buds and I were joking that his homosexuality was showing.

Last year was so chaotic, I want that kind of drama again. I want it juxtaposed to the forced positivity.

I also want to put money on my country not reaching the finals again. We're apparently so desperate that we are doing ripoffs. Goddamn.

Every year I put on the entire playlist on and listen to all the songs blind not to be swayed by anything and judge purely on the music

IMO this year is particularly weak, not even guilty pleasures club bangers except for Gabry Ponte

I'm surprised that the German entry this year is actually in German.
It still sucks hard and will be placing last as usual, but hey, it's a start.
They're not even trannies, weirdly enough. They're not Germans, either, they're Austrian with Hungarian roots, but close enough.
I will not watch, and just snort when the inevitable last place is announced in the papers the next day.

Ausfags don't want to be in your faggy contest and I don't know why we are
Me neither. Sorry Aussies, but you've overstayed your welcome. None of your songs have been good.

When hasn't Germany sucked? I don't think they have presented a good song since their last win.
Slovak gypsy troon. Who is part of Britbongistani band. Lol this is beyond parody.
Why is xhe representing Czech republic?
Also wikipedo only list xhis mother name, but there is no mention of xhis father... Really makes you think.
It's probably because last year was filled with genderspecials. Ireland and Switzerland. So now other countries are probably trying to get that same buzz.

But Belgium's Boy George did fuck all.

Edit: I take back my comment about Australia to an extent. You had a prog rock song one year. That one was really good.

Yeah, and the last winning song sucked as well. I mean, as far as any pop hit sucks, I guess. It was catchy and less offensively bad or gimmicky as some of the previous entries.
Also I just learned that there have been recent songs that haven't placed dead last.

Estonia appeals to coffee drinkers and people who like to make fun of italians, I think they’ll place well.

I’m gonna disagree with you there, Zero Gravity on a High jump pole was a banger.

It begins
Tuesday night was the first semi-final of Eurovision, and number 14 in the row was Croatia with the song "Poison Cake"

But when voting for Croatia, several people received the following response:

"Thank you for voting for Israel".

Israel is not part of tonight's semi-final, but will appear as number 14 on Thursday.

However, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) can reassure those who thought their vote was not registered. Just before 01 Norwegian time, the EBU says in a statement that the votes were correctly registered and that the error did not affect the result.
Israel came pretty damn close to killing the contest last year, lets see how this one plays out.

Azerbaijan was particularly bad to the point where I couldn't tell if he was off key or not. His signing threw me for a goddamn loop.
Outstanding lmao. He was indeed very out of tune in a way it's clearly far too high for him, god knows wtf countries are thinking when they send people with a song they can't execute live.

Hopefully Tommy Cash can finally achieve his dream of becoming a professional gangsta rap superstar.

I watch with my eurofag friends every year. Didn't look at the lineup and was pleasantly surprised he somehow landed his ass there.

For once, I quite like our (UK) entry. Their vocals are clear and strong, and their harmonies match incredibly well. I hope the staging isn't lackluster, but it'll probably be disappointing. This year is remarkably one of the weakest in a long time, which is fitting as it's being hosted by Switzerland.
