Today they teamed up with the same hack lawyer that is “suing the White House” and tried to cause shit with mattpat for fame.

Today’s target is the electoral college. Because clearly some random California lawyer and video game commentators are qualified to do that.

I actually skimmed around the video. The last 3 minutes is the point they suggest a substitute, and it's the usual brainlet of "electoral college should support the person who won the national popular vote. Because fuck my state, I want our republic to be ruled by 4 big cities who are living off leeching everyone else".

I really want to know why anyone think that would be a good idea. The rest of California hate LA and SF, the rest of New York hates NYC, all of the Washington hates Seattle, so they wouldn’t want that, and it’s essentially a middle finger to the entire rest of the country.

Easy, they can always win in elections because city dwellers are mainly either thugs living of gibs or middle/upper income living in a bubble consisting of consoom. Even without those groups consistently voting democrats, you heavily reduce the variance in people you need to appeal to. Since why cater to groups like farmers when they live in rural shitholes? An urbanite moron would just say we should import meat from China instead.

Because it guarantees that their preferred political party would win every election from now on.

If the major cities were Republican, and the small rural areas were Democrat, the Republicans would want the popular vote and the Dems would want the electoral college.

Legal Eagle (Devin Stone) is slowly earning his own thread imo. Nicky Rackets got so incredibly mad with his shit-tier legal takes in his last stream I'm pretty sure you could see the blood vessels bursting in real time.

It was funny to have watched him go from noticing this bad lawyer in early streams and saying "He's wrong abot a lot, but he isn't too important so I might cover him later" to viewing his takes and just not being able to believe they exist.

I haven’t been following this guy too much aside from a few bad takes that make me question if he’s actually a lawyer at times, what else has be done other than the MattPat drama and now this random and nonsensical crossover?

I'm having trouble remembering when exactly Rekieta mentioned it, but I think it was from a superchat where someone asked him about one of Legal Eagle's videos. And he said he thought he was dumb or something. This would have been way back when he was doing Russell Greer's lawsuits.

Sounds a little troublesome to comb through, maybe I’ll bite the bullet and send a super chat nick’s way and see.
I don’t know if legal eagle is exceptional enough for his own thread yet since he mostly sticks to going over the legal ramifications of movies and tv shows

The main thing about him is that all his legal takes are bad. He's a really stupid lawyer and unfortunately also very popular on youtube.

Honestly on second thought I agree with you. A Law Twitter community watch thread would still be worthwhile though I guess.

With this brief revival, and overall theme of James Portnow not understanding the law, I'm reminded of this stunningly stupid take in the Extra Politics series where they tried to explain the political system as a game to market their (probably) shitty board game.

The take in question starts at 3:16

"...or were passed by Congress, Veto Checked by the President, and then are enforced by the courts."
Stop. Go back to high school. Get on your knees and beg forgiveness from your Civics teacher who you have clearly failed. The President IS the executive branch, who is in charge of enforcing the laws passed by congress. The Supreme Court interprets the law. The lower courts are created by congress and are technically part of the legislative branch. Agents of the 4th Circuit court aren't going to take down a drug ring, the DEA does. And the DEA is part of the Executive.

Fuck, I learned stuff this basic from school house rock in elementary school. Does James know anything about, well, anything?!

I dont get what you guys are on about Abolishing the electoral college is a fantastic idea. As long as we genocide the populations of San Fransisco, LA, Seattle, and NYC
