I'm sorry, what? Hasbro actually likes Bronies. They LOVE Derpy Hooves. It's just that there was an outcry of people being butthurt over that pony, so they answered.

The MLP cartoon franchise began its existence purely as a crass 30-minute toy commercial, same as Transformers or GI Joe, and never strayed from the plan. How could Hasbro be "greedy" for simply continuing to use their property to sell more toys and crap?

Then again, one of my contacts is theorizing that the fanbase is shrinking because of crescent disapproval to the point where most of the guys will stop watching and such because the show simply won't appeal to them anymore. So maybe it's just exhaustion after so many years of this? Humans do have a tendency to lose interest in things after long periods of time...

Just ignore me, I'm sorta drunk. And I don't have slightest fucking clue about MLP, so there.

I think the post just speaks volumes about his preferences in fiction. He wants things to stay exactly the way they were, or just make subtle changes (as in Sonic - Sonic himself stays the same, just add bazillion different characters to pander to other demographics. The only way to piss off fans is by *ahem* changing voice actors.)

But as soon as someone makes a dramatic change to his preferred bunch of fiction, Chris has to state that this change is obviously not TRUE and HONEST and it's unfair to the LOYAL FANDASE.

Honestly a lot of fans are like this though. I mean it becomes a bit more ridiculous with Chris but tons of fan bases are like this.

Exactly, anybody remember when the Wind Waker with it's bold new art style was announced? Jesus Christ what a fuss!

Going back to the MLP thing, as you so rightly say,Chris always manages to turn it up to 11.

Actually no nevermind it's 4chan of course it'd be a horrible decision. This is too early in my day for me to deal with...

As for why Chris sounds hypocritical... I think he doesn't even realize that's a hypocrisy, because he sees things one day at a time and thinks that some things just can't be sexualized/terrorfied (especially if it makes him feel good) and some can. It might be the other part of why he takes the dark parodies so seriously - he thinks the cutesy horses are his new safety net and the idea of it being threatened by anyone makes him go at once.

His mental age is the right one to appreciate this legitimately, is what I'm saying. We don't even know if he *does* fap to them or not, we just assume because it's creepy and disgusting and so is he.

It's an absolute corker. Thing is, 10 years down the line it's regarded as an all time classic and the art style is now universally praised, it's also made the game age brilliantly. Just goes to show that these uproars are always made by the vocal minority who just want everything they love to stay the same forever. (not that I'm claiming this MLP bull is comparable)

Don't know if you're aware, but the big N's re-releasing it for the WiiU with an HD makeover.

Kind of a shame when one of the most anticipated games for their new system is a re-make of a ten year old game from two generations ago.
