Either fortunately or unfortunately depending on your perspective ESVI won't be the same cluaterfuck FO76 is, unless they try to do always online DRM or some kind of multiplayer. It will be a perfectly mediocre buggy unpolished mess like every normal Bethesda game, but the fact it's not a FO76 size fuck up means it will be hailed as an amazing game and the journos and the drones will declare it Bethesda's redemption and they will limp on until the next clusterfuck.

Honestly as long as they Can put out one passable game between every fuck up cascade I think Bethesda will be able to keep this going for a few more years at least.

Not sure how reliable this is, but I've been seeing people talk about Bethesda supposedly rushing the release of The Elder Scrolls VI for 2019 in a desperate attempt to salvage their reputation. Take it with a spoonful of salt, but if true, this will only lead to a rush development full of problems. Imagine the chaos if VI turns out to be a disaster. Their biggest IP getting fucked over would even knock that smug grin off Pete Hines' face.

Even with or without the Fallout 76 flop, I just can't see how they can dumb down the next Elder Scrolls game any further.

I imagine them cloning Xenoblade’s combat system (autoattack automatically when in range, hitting is math dependent instead of physics, 100% canned animations) and grafting a reskinned VATS on as the magic system, probably with runes involved. This would sidestep around creation’s janky physics and also play the same regardless of input device, which is an important consideration when you want to publish the same game over and over for a decade.

There's also Elder Scrolls Blades coming out this year... No doubt fans and casual audiences will kiss its ass indefinitely even if it is underwhelming and make them forgive Bethesda for all its shortcomings regarding 76 and so much more.

The thing is, they should know that if they want to make a hit, especially an Elder Scrolls game, they need time. Lots of time. While I don’t doubt that they’ve been working on it long before it was announced, making the production hasty only damages the product. You’d think Bethesda would know that, especially after Fallout 76, which came out half a year after it was announced. They have the companies they own to salvage money from like the upcoming Doom: Eternal, Rage 2, and so on. They should use their profits from that to make something that would actually salvage their reputation, and that takes time and money. After Fallout 76, it’s likely that they don’t have as much of either of those as they wanted.

While all what you say is true, I don't think that the types that are in charge of Bethesda nowadays really understand that rushing a creative product hurts the quality.
All they see is some vague product that they are completely unable to gauge the quality of, that is sold to people who they have open contempt for, since they don't understand at all why these people waste so much money and time on something the suits themselves consider childish and worthless.

Explaining to such an exec what makes a video game fun is like trying to describe a rainbow to a blind person.
To them, Revolution 60 and -say- Half Life are almost the same game.
"What, one is shit and the other is fun? You walk around in both games and shoot dudes from time to time, what's the big deal?"

pushing Starfield and ES6 out the door to try to make the money in the interim.

Isn't that just compounding the problem that their reputation is garbage and that they only produce buggy trash if they follow up the current game with two even shittier, more rushed games?

Well they clearly are incapable of learning since for too long now we've been seeing them make one disastrous fuck up after another.

I'm honestly not surprised a another shitty mobile fits right in with Bethesda. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes part of their business model, and prior to release of every FO and ES we get some shit mobile game that barely ties in.

I bet that will have over 9,000 loot boxes and pay to win for them whales.

Bethesda doesn't care about their reputation. They're trying to see how lazy they can get before it's no longer profitable, and at this rate it'll be another decade before they find the absolute lowest common denominator they can get away with.

Bethesda doesn't seem to know what a LAN party is:

LAN Parties are still a good time, but does FO76 even have a dedicated LAN mode like Borderlands 2 or other games? The impression I got is that it's online ONLY and cannot be played offline via LAN.

It's weird they would even think to post that, it feels out of touch like the time that Microsoft/OXM was making fun of the PlayStation for having games install only to find their entire user base was like "shut up, we want to be able to install games too".

I really can't wait for the next video game crash. Once it becomes unprofitable to make games for mainline consoles and PCs the normies, retards, and consumerists will move onto the mobile market and we won't have to be treated to a buffet of shit anymore

What I'm saying is that us gamers should rise up

Once it becomes unprofitable to make games for mainline consoles and PCs the normies, exceptional individuals, and consumerists will move onto the mobile market and we won't have to be treated to a buffet of shit anymore

That's not going to happen. Those people have always been the gaming industry's main demographic and it's growing.

What is going to happen is that the bubble created by unsustainable business practices will burst, though it's hard to say what effects it will have. More important, I think, is whether there will be a new generation of studios and publishers ready to displace the giants when they stumble. Right now the industry is hyper-stratified between formulaic AAA titles and 2D 8-bit Metroidvania indie games with only a handful of exceptions (Path of Exile, etc.) in between, and those indie developers aren't growing as quickly as their forebears from the 80s and 90s.
