Skimmed through this thread, and unless I missed something, I don't think anybody has mentioned just how much of a disaster this game seems to be on the inside.

Parts of Fallout 4, parts of Skyrim... it's a goddamn Frankensteinian asset flip! How long until we start finding shit from Daggerfall in there too?

And it turns out, the aging engine isn't itself to blame. Bethesda's incompetence is.

I like how with all this shit that Bethesda pulled, the Bag is what is breaking the camel's back. It's just that tiny little extra bullshit, the small amount of douchebaggery that makes the barrel overflow and serves as the perfect example of just how fucking low Bethesda has sunken.

Given that big companies have started actively shitting on their fans with the utmost confidence that their products will still sell, the only thing left is voting with your wallets. I seriously hope that Bethesda is going to lose a shitton of customers over this debacle... but gamers are a stupid lot, they will flock back to the brand the moment the next insult in this once great franchise is announced.

It just seems to be the times we are living in. Most of the major game developers have allowed themselves to become over confident in the fact that they can produce crap and the fans who play in and the new fans who replace them have very short term memories. If we stopped supporting the video game industry every time they shipped a steaming pile of shit, it would have died out long ago. The issue I take with it is that these companies aren't willing to learn from their mistakes, and try to roll that out into the existing ethos of the company.

Multiplayers are not my thing, so I wasn't interested in playing Fallout 76 in the first place, but from everything that I've seen and heard, it really is one of the worst botches I've seen in a long time from a large game company, and not a self created botch like lesbian cyborgs in battlefield five self inflicted botch, just a really poorly made attempt to ship a game that clearly wasn't ready in any way shape or form.

Well you could say that, but shit like Mass Effect 3 and going to Andromeda proves otherwise. I really love the Fallout game series but what was pulled seriously makes me lose confidence in not only the next Fallout game, but the future of the Elder Scrolls series as well.

This is actually excusable in games with gigantic engines that don’t have space requirements. Any time you have loosely referenced tables of strings/assets like that in a big project it gets difficult to make sure they’re not actually being used somewhere so generally they get left in until the last possible moment and/or just ignored entirely. Bethesda has just been ignoring them entirely since Morrowind.

Their anticheat is fucking hilarious though and now I’m curious what sort of havoc can be caused with a compromised client.

Holy fucking shit, I knew netimmerse/gamebyro was old but they've been using the same fucking engine for 16 years?!

That thing has to be a monstrous beast of spaghetti code and utter insanity at this point. I'm surprised they can even get the thing to work still. Well, it doesn't really work, but you know what I mean.
