Fallout 76 General Thread - Bethesda does it again!

I really do hope to see Bethesda get completely btfo by the end of this. This is a bigger shitstorm than their paid mods fiasco could ever hope to be.
Us gamers need to rise up, buy the rights to Fallout, sell it to a competent company, and sit back down to play our games again.
So basically this but with Bethesda instead of Gamestop?

I don't usually listen to Angry Joe's reviews anymore, but I listened to his rant about this game. And one thing he said needs to be tattooed in reverse on Todd's chest, so that he's forced to read it every damned morning in front of the mirror.

...You refuse to put in human NPCs with interesting stories because of a hugely misguided directive, from presumably Todd, that he wanted every human you would meet would be a player.

Well guess what?

Players suck.

Gamers don't play games like NPCs, and they can never be substitutes for them.
Especially because people are shitty assholes in games, by nature. They do and say shitty things, they loose their fucking cool.

Players don't behave like Bethesda wants them to.

It's like Todd had no experience with the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory -- and I've known about THAT (albeit not by the Penny Arcade title) since fucking 1993.

Todd, you fuck, did you ever play on a MUD where the gloves were off and the admin only stepped in for actual coding/bug issues? People can be good, yes, but online, they can also be astonishingly bad.

Joe is being amazingly kind by giving this dumpster fire a 3/10.

And the problem is, because of the nature of... well... games, generally, you can never actually compel players otherwise. Players who want to be assholes generally have nothing to lose. They laugh at any attempt to control their behavior. You can't even effectively ban them, generally - if your game is F2P, they just roll another account. If your game requires a purchase, that might slow them down a bit, but it's surprisingly not as effective as you might think in actually stopping them.

And if anything, they tend to be better at manipulating the system than you are... If your game has consensual PVP, they'll know every trick to force you to "accidentally" consent to PVP. If you have always-active PVP, but some sort of anti-griefing enforcement, they'll know how to get *you* to be marked as the griefer instead of them. If you have NPCs that try to guard cities, they'll know how to make the guards target you instead of them. It goes on and on.

And even if, after all that, you manage to ban one, and he stays banned? You've still "lost". He got exactly what he wanted, ultimately - he made you mad, caused you problems, and wasted your time.

What an absolute shit show. I really don't believe that Bethesda can be this out of touch with whats going on and keep digging their grave even further, I wonder if someone is intentionally trying to bring the company down. Call me crazy but at this point they've turned into a comic relief character for a cartoon.

Banning players now for homophobia, nice to see that no fun allowed approach is being taken further by Bethesda.

According to one Twitter user, that Fallout 76 canvas bag is really just a $5 wholesale bag.

Assuming those bags are literally the same material as the "prototype", Bethesda really fucked up even further.

According to one site (take with salt if needed), the canvas bags were given to "influencers".
https://gamerant.com/fallout-76-canvas-bags-given-influencers/

If it is a case where the canvas bags were only ever meant for influencers than it shows an incredible lack of foresight for them to have advertised the product for so long as anything but the crappy nylon pouches that they were going to use. It is fundamentally false advertising and they should be pressed on it.

I honestly hope they start banning everyone to ensure no one ever trusts the Bethesda brand again. After this fiasco, they don't deserve that trust. But that's being too optimistic... Even friends of mine are still hopeful after wasting money on that shit, saying "I'm sure they'll fix all the problems. We just have to wait." :optimistic::optimistic::optimistic:

They sure must be one happy couple right now...

It'll be funny when they start cracking down on people using the wrong pronouns or mentioning the word Trump.

Archeage did the latter and it did not end well.

Didn't they outnumber him 3 to 1? Come on, you pussies, fight back! Straight-gay race war now!

Is multiplayer combat even possible on Fo76? It literally has a dueling system.

All this is why wild west MMOs are the only way to make MMOs.

If anything, the gamedevs should just put a system in place that puts a bounty on whoever is a griefing dick, so other players have an incentive to kill him. I mean, anything short of "Gas all the kikes, niggers are cattle" shouldn't even get you the attention of a mod.
