Did EA quietly acquire Bethesda or something?

I was actually really hyped for 76 initially... Now, I am significantly less hyped.

Gonna try the beta, and if it sucks hard enough, I just wont show up at gamestop to buy the full thing.

Honestly, Bethesda needs to get more creative talent and less of Pete Hines' bullshit. Just this morning I sat around thinking "What would I have done instead of the BoS in Virginia?"

The Protectorate:
Founded in 2078 by a coalition of the remaining members of the Virginia National Guard and local law enforcement officers, the Protectorate arose as an attempt to reestablish order in the now lawless wasteland. Their tactics became increasingly brutal by necessity, with raiders and dissenters often being publicly executed with flamers or rigged with explosive collars and forced to endure "Community Service" scavenging in the wastes.
After a time an ideological rift began to form with some members questioning the ruthless methods practiced, leading to an attempt by Protectorate leadership to crack down on ideological dissent. The resulting witch hunt mentality eventually erupted into full blown civil war between the newly established factions of the Protectorate which ended with the accidental detonation of a nuclear device in their headquarters during the fighting.

Doesn't try to shove the BoS where they belong and you still get a group of power armored badasses to write some lore for, as well as a decent explanation of where the fuck they went and why you won't find their members in the game. Maybe not the best, but at least there's some fucking effort to be different.

I thought 3 started the hurt it, 4 killed it an '76 was a shambling corpse because '76 is definitely a hollow husk
No Fallout 3 was reanimating a corpse, Fallout NV was giving it a new brain and the ability to think, Fallout 4 was becoming afraid of what it had created and trying to dial it back, and Fallout 76 is an attempt to destroy it.

Fallout: Tactics was Fallout falling down a couple of stairs. Fallout: BOS was someone pushing it down the next 4 flights. Fallout 3 was kicking it down into the basement. New Vegas was the elevator back to the first floor and 4 was the elevator cables snapping. 76 is the elevator catching fire and fucking exploding.

Fallout Tactics was such a disappointing waste of potential. It had decent enough gameplay, but a really shitty story and a LOT of really bad design decisions as well as disrespecting established lore.
I liked that you could switch between turn-based and real-time, I liked the inclusion of vehicles, I liked the fact that R Lee Ermey was in it.
I hated everything else, like how the merchants don't restock until after a number of missions, I also thought it was stupid as hell that there wasn't any of the normal power armor that exists in the Fallout universe like T-45 and T-51 variants.
And what's worse is it's FUCKING CANON thanks to Fallout 3. As much as I liked 3 for it's gameplay and the world it built, I really thought the story was fucking weak.

And Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel... let us never speak of it again.

You are a fool.
Why? Because I thought it was fun to actually shoot at raiders instead of watching a tiny figure shoot at them?
I loved the Capital Wasteland. It was a really nice place to explore and had a lot of really interesting shit in it, as well as some decent characters to interact with.
I just wish Bethesda had taken more time to iron out the bugs in the gameplay and had hired competent writers. Also, the crafting bench was so fucking useless, which was just infuriating since New Vegas showed how it SHOULD have been handled.

Shit, I can't even play Fallout 3 without using Tale of Two Wastelands since NV had markedly superior gameplay and systems, as well as being a masterwork in terms of lore and world building.

You have a tiny brain.
