I love all the comments on the trailer along the lines of "THiS Is HoW a FaLlOuT gAmE sHoUlD bE mAdE!"

So buggy, uninspired, with awful writing and dialogue, rehashing old ideas from better games than yours, then implementing your own shitty ideas that border on cringe?

So you like Bethesda?
Bethesda at least confined itself to its own side of the USA and only fucked with the lore in ways that can easily be ignored.

So is the frontier worth downloading? If not anyone got a good modlist to recommend? I kinda want to get back into new vegas.
So something with content added and some rebalance but no wacky shit.
P. S. I hate bullet sponges

Assuming you already don't have the absolutely vital 4GB Patch, YUP patch, the Unofficial Patch, NVAC, Tick Fixer, etc, then you need Project Nevada, NPC's Can Miss and Realistic Headshot Damage if you wanna make gunfights more harrowing. Project Nevada because how much you can customize concerning leveling, NPC health, etc. and the latter is obvious.

You should also try to get Just Mods Assorted, since that adds a lot of customizability to your UI.

As for content? For The Enclave is a great attempt at adding a better and more established enclave questline to the mojave that isn't that fucktarded New California attempt, and it throws the Frontier dev's views about the enclave right in their damn face lol.

Your typical fare with things like Someguy's New Vegas Bounties series (and all of the affiliate mods that come with his custom ESM), as well as Overs33r's Beyond Boulder Dome, and Depths of Depravity.

You should also consider looking up Kris Takahashi's mods. They're of such seamless quality you'll wonder how they weren't apart of the vanilla experience. Of note is Interesting NPC's to add ambience to the world space with actual conversations happening, and The Blue Note, which gives us a nice little storyline involving a cabaret club.

If you want immersion breaking nonsense, just look up anything from Americanweirdo. It's charming in that it revels in his own weird and campy style.

And before I forget, stay away from the War Trash 2. War Trash is relatively fine, and it's got some highlights, but it's mainly a one and done thing, and the sequel ramps up the needless and railroaded melodrama and shock value so far up to 11 it's any wonder it couldn't be more obvious they were just aping Heart of Darkness. (It also has the structural foundation of gum and scotch tape. Crashed on me constantly.)

Even funnier,I was in their discord channel a couple years ago and it was insanely common for the devs to constantly talk about how Bethesda ruined the franchise.

All the people who shilled this mod and the devs no longer have a right to complain about Bethesda railroading their games and breaking the lore.

@Imperialist #348 That last picture is based off of actual Roman armor, armor that would have actually been worn by Praetorians. Go look up lorica segmentata and then get back to me.
There's lorica segmentata and then there's the samurai-esque armor the Blades wear as reference to their order's origins from Not!Japan. They are far too similar to just dismiss as being inspired by the real thing.

Obviously the Japanese influences are apparent in that armor, but he seems to be saying the Praetorian's armor is directly based off that of the Blades when... it isn't. Random sawblades aside, its surprisingly faithful to Rome, certainly moreso than the Legion in NV itself. And that still doesn't change the fact the torso and arm protection on the Blades apparel is right out of Rome itself.

Fair enough.

A shame the same excuses can't be made for the weird ass Doom and Halo shit I've been hearing about and seeing on screenshots.

Yeah. I don't think I'll be playing this any time soon. Or New California for different reasons. That said, you could do something Halo or Doom inspired and have it fit with Fallout lore. Just set it at some super high-tech black site like the Big MT. I mean, its not like the MIC we have now is known for cooperative efforts, so having some sort of competitor to the Big MT and Mariposa focused specifically around super-soldier research fits the lore decently enough. Some FEV, a dash of power armor, add heavy metal soundtrack to taste, and bam, Fallout: Doom.

Hell, just make a VR pod like the ones in Vault 112 and Operation Anchorage and have the sole purpose be to give the player a bunch of video game simulations to play. Easy peasy.

Edit: Good fucking lord the solid goddamn cringe.
