Fallout series

Instead what I see are like some freaky scaly otherkin OCs from Furaffinity; twink-ish snake people with creepy-looking dragon heads and wings, girly voices (with an obnoxious hiss) and manly upper-bodies who are super horny and high on drugs all the time and claim humans are really attracted to them for some reason.

So... trannies?

those snakes are Unity bought assets, no wonder they look out of place.

you ain't kidding, they act like they a bunch of druggies

Oh that ain't nothing. They broke out Jim Sterling's favorite whipping boy from the old Greenlight days.
so what the hell did they work on that wasnt unity assets, shit writing, references to pop culture, events/characters from previous games, or forced politics/fetishes? vehicle combat? air sections?

Tons of equipment, worldspace, voice acting, scripting, etc.

The real question is what the 3-year holdup was. Most of everything from the 4+ year old videos appears very close to the final version, with the notable exception of the vehicles, which they confirmed that they did redo from the ground up at least once. I think they did some major additions to the worldspace as well, but even then it doesn't add up to 3 years. It doesn't appear that they spent it bugfixing, so maybe they did pull a New Colossus and massively increase the presence of the Enclave so that they could do an ORANGE MAN BAD. If that were the case, though, I would expect them to be jacking themselves off about it on every platform they could get their hands on, so fuck if I know.

According to 4chan one of the developers of the mod named nyaalich wrote a Fallout Ghoul Rape fanfiction

EDIT: I found proof it's them

Nyalich is in the credits of the mod as Senior Editor. This is their profile on Loverslab

Someone managed to grab a snippet from the Frontier Dev stream where they specifically refer to anyone wanting to play as the Enclave as just supporting “a fascist power fantasy”.

I've started with Frontier. Can I play out my 'fascist power fantasy?"

Some of these people sound insane.

He... he actually used his regular username on the fucking porn mods site? How fucking retarded can someone get?
(Now dox him and tell his mom what he does in his spare time)

In other news, I've just hit a personal high in dissapointment for this mod: the lack of options for talking down ARGUS. I know exactly what is wrong with his logic, but apparently the writers couldn't figure it out, so they just skipped the diplomacy and went straight to the (admittedly not bad) boss fight.

Also according to 4chan the developers stole a texture from Doom 3. The one on the left is from D3 the one on the right is from The Frontier.
The use of copyrighted content in a mod is usually a pretty bottom-of-the-barrel complaint, it's not like this is a commercial product, but then again, Frontier is both high-profile and on the Steam marketplace (albiet for free), so I wouldn't be surprised if this came back to bite them.

Apparently this is one of the devs of Frontier. Imagine being such a dimwitted faggot that you don't think Caesar is at least an interesting villain. He really was. Sure I think he was a megalomaniac who was up his own ass and not nearly as smart as he thought he was, but he was at least compelling.
So yeah, this is the sort of person who worked on the mod. Any wonder it turned out the way it did writing-wise?

to hell with this mod and the people behind it. i wasted 20 hours of my life for nothing! so im part of the legion and i get a quest to either have 2 factions join them or destroy them. hell the legate even encouraged me to work my "courier magic". so i decided to infiltrate the crusaders. knowing these are guys with power armor, attaching them head on is suicide so i decided to do a few quests for them. maybe i could have them join the legion if they like me enough or maybe i could find a self-destruct button in their base so could pull off a hidden valley 2 electric boogaloo. the first quest in and already the legion decide to attack the crusaders without warning. now the quest says to either kill the legion or the crusaders depending on who you want to side with. the problem with that is there are a dozen crusader soldiers with power armor and end game leaser gear that turn the legion soldiers to ash in a matter of seconds. it dosent matter how fast i am, the legion soldiers always loses and than they turn hostile on me and im marked for fucking death. i could kill a dozen crusader soldiers during the battle and the legion still hate when they lose and the crusaders still love me when they win even after killing so many of them.

fuck, atleast give me a warning about something like this. dont encourage me to infiltrate another faction just to fuck me over on THE FIRST GOD DAMN QUEST WHERE I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE SITUATION!

dosent help the mod crashes half the time beacuse so much shit is going on at once. the sad part is i was enjoying myself and all of it got taken away in a matter of minutes.

"EDIT" lol i discover i cant even win the battle beacuse one of the crusader NPC is un-killable! you cocksuckers!

Ouch, yeah, I know the Crusaders intro is rough, but I didn't realize it was that bad from the Legion side. I got a bad feeling about it being an unannounced lock-in during the first meeting with the boss and managed to reload the autosave and nope out, but yeah, fucking ouch.

If there's one thing that Frontier does exceptionally well, it's demonstrate just how fucking genius OG Fallout and NV were for not using unkillable NPCs: it's fucking hard to make a story-based game that doesn't break into a thousand pieces the moment the player gets the power to just kill whoever they want.

(That does sound like a legit bug, though, and if you give a single solitary shit you should report it. To their credit, they've been pushing patches at least every two days since release.)

Reflecting on it, there really aren't any unkillable essential NPCs in Fallout 3 or New Vegas (outside of children). Makes you wonder why they couldn't manage that in Oblivion or worse Skyrim where anyone attached to any major quest was fucking immortal.

3 had Dad and the named BoS characters, IIRC. It's actually an interesting little story across the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games themselves. In F1/2, your end goal was destructive in nature, the only problem was getting there, and in essence the entire main quest was simply the act of getting directions to where you needed to go. Even in Morrowind, Bethesda was unable to emulate this, and so they introduced the "essential" tag, which played the famous "with this character's death" message, essentially a glorified "congrats, genius, you broke it" message. This was then changed to immortality for Oblivion, apparently because console players thought that reloading the autosave was more obnoxious than the game just flatly refusing to let them kill people (also worth mentioning is that Oblivion introduced children, and something something ESRB). New Vegas walked it back towards the old Fallout games, limiting the essential tag itself to only children, but arguably halfway cheating by having Yes Man both reincarnate and be physically incapable of holding a grudge.

By the time of Skyrim and F4, however, the philosophy seems to have shifted from "don't let the player softlock themselves" to "don't let the player lock themselves out of content", and the results are plain to be seen. Conclusion: it really does take serious skill to make a story that can adapt to the player being an omnicidal lunatic, and that's something that's been lost in both the downgrade of writer skill over the years and the increased emphasis on scripted spectacle as games have gotten more advanced.
