Here's the thing, though: only Ulysses in Lonesome Road treats you like some kind of supervillain for flattening his potential second home. To everyone else, you're a nobody until you do something great, like say, assassinate the head of the Chairmen in his own Casino and walk away without a scratch on you. You're important because of what you do in the game, not because of what you were before the game.Other people have mentioned Lonesome Road being guilty of this, but I think it's exactly that sort of "epic hero" writing that makes it so entertaining.
Ulysses: "You monster. Destroyer of civilizations. Meet me at the end of the world and face your destiny among the dead."
Courier: "Who are you, and can I have my robot back?"
