Am I the only one that feels that F4 seems to take place in some universe where the Lone Wanderer never existed? And Im left wondering if this was all an example of Bethesda writing or they wanted to imply/setup something that ultimately never had a payoff. They just want you to go along with these changes that feel rather forced so they can have their desired setup without having to address too much the events of F3. The Lone Wanderer isnt mentioned once and the BOS assumes all credit for defeating the Enclave...and Maxon's "awesome accomplishments" were also things done constantly by the Wanderer him/herself.
It almost makes me wonder if Bethesda didnt intend a "written by the winners" situation with the BOS or/and Sarah Lyons was actually still alive somewhere (since her off screen death by a terminal felt extremely contrived to the point I felt like it was impossible to not be setting up something).
Yeah, I think the voice protag has the biggest influence on lack of mods.
You know what I find weird? That Fallout 4's modding scene is so goddamn dead. I constantly run into mods that were created years ago, got 1 or 2 updates, then were never bothered with again. Meanwhile I see mods for New Vegas made even longer ago still getting updates.
What is it about Fallout 4 or it's creation kit that is such a turn off to the modders?
With F3 and NV, you could write LW/TC's dialogue and you arent suppose to hear it, all that the modder had to do is worry about the NPC's reply. Most mods I have seen of these two usually have "silent" conversations more akin to Classic Fallout conversations with non mugshot characters.
In F4, you have two options, use some creativity with the pre-recorded lines or just have the SS just "talk" muted...which feels very awkward.
In retrospect, having a voice protagonist robbed a lot of the experience. I feel like Bethesda thought too much if they could and not if they should. It restrained the roleplaying aspect, I almost dare say it that the SS is the most "linear" of all Bethesda's protagonists, because there are a lot of stuff about him/her that its just out of your control.
Also i'm amazed 76 has enough of a playerbase that bethesda can keep releasing updates 3 years on. i know that "keep on trucking" bullshit helped make TESO reach close to WoW in terms of subs, but between the backlash and slow drip of content i'm just surprised there is still enough of a userbase to justify releasing updates. a shitload of MMOs back during the age of MMOs (2000s) didn't even make it 3 years despite being well liked. Matrix online only lasted 4.5 years.
I almost applaud Bethesda in their persistant to a sinking ship
Tgspy just quit the Fallout modding scene. Twitter announcements on the
official Frontier and
his personal Twitter accounts. Those
damn dirty alt-right trolls!

By God, they always throw the "muh mental health" card. How long until these people realise no one actually gives a fuck? For me, thats just saying you cant handle the real world because it will always put pressure on ya weak ass.
"I couldnt pay the bills to focus on my mental health", yeah, try that one in real life
Besides, its basically "I know my modding career is over so I will pretend that Im quitting on my own terms to save face and make people feel sorry for me."
