Agreed. Weird wastelanders with odd customs and obsessions are goofy, but it still is done in a way that makes it feel like an actual part of the world and story. Throwing in random pop culture references as events is just stupid and hurts the spirit of the world. Now, small references here or there are okay, but I feel that a reference like Prost Bar was a lot more respectful than just having an enemy reference Doctor Who randomly.

I've been thinking of reinstalling New Vegas and modding the shit out of it for another run. My last run was fun as all fuck, had it modded out the ass with TTW included. Had mods that added loads of weapons, armor, functionality and mechanics, all sorts of shit.

I especially loved how I engineered the Battle of Hoover Dam at the end of New Vegas' main quest. I sided with the NCR, doing every conceivable quest in the way most designed to strengthen the NCR, and bankrolled as much of the NCR's efforts as I could myself. Just before the battle at the dam I rolled up in my wasteland truck (love that mod) and distributed goodies to the troopers stationed there because I had a mod that let you trade items with any NPC from a faction you had a good relationship with. Most of them got their NCR armor and service rifles replaced with modded US Army MK I Combat Armor painted up in an NCR theme and US Army issue Assault Rifles from Fallout 3. A few lucky fuckers got NCR themed T-45d power armor and miniguns. I gave the entirety of NCR 1st Recon some fully upgraded anti-materiel rifles. Got the Enclave Remnants, Brotherhood, and the Boomers to support the NCR in the battle as well.

It was so goddamn one sided that it was actually comical.

That is one of Dragbody's legion overhauls either Caesar's New Regime or Rhyse Legion Overhaul

Be aware that Drag adds lots of lore unfriendly shit to his mods, female legionaries and eight foot tall legion brutes, shit like that.

So if you're running a vanilla + or lore friendly modlist keep that in mind.

Yeah I know how to fuck around with it. I'm abroad atm so I can't do anything until I'm back at my PC, but I'll probably fuck around with it when I'm back home.
 
I tried giving Fallout 4 another shot again after playing New Vegas for a while.

I just learned how busted the bear roast is as a consumable which adds like 500% melee damage. Then I spent my time trying to hunt mutant bears for meat, which I discovered you can set up traps which require two headed deer meat. Which prompted me to set up a carrot farm so I could bait the mutant deers to collect their meat.

Well, I pretty much gave up on playing FO4 all over again. Apparently I was away from my player base for too long and I didn't get the settlement raid notification or there must have been a raider crouched behind a building or something. Because when I came back I found my plants were destroyed along with my water purifiers.

I'm not mad about it or anything, but shit I feel like all my motivation to do anything is just gone now.

Honestly, I'm cautiously optimistic. Sure, shit like that ghoul nurse or weirdly-detailed female faces are a red flags, but if they (hopefully) learned anything from Frontier they will write semi-grounded story and keep their fetishes in check, and I'm sure the mod will be warmly recieved then.

With his 10 in every stat and edgy fence sitting, he's like if Coldsteel the Hedgehog actually showed up in a mainstream release.
