One bad year that is the culmination of decades of bad policies. The NCR is nearing collapse by the time of FNV because of their idiotic handling of things after their victories. Their victories didn't make them better; it made them cockier and stupider. Trying to reach as far as possible without securing supply lines and ensuring that your control of the area is fortified.

The Enclave in FO3 necessitated a superweapon and an OP main character for the Brotherhood to defeat them. The NCR is about to lose to a bunch of dudes in skirts led by a Roman weeaboo and a dude with a mask. If you look at the final battle in FNV, the Legion version is the easiest one since Legion troops do half the work and slaughter NCR soldiers faster than you can keep up. You have to actively compete with your own side just to get any kills. Can't say the same for the NCR side where the enemy is literally pouring into the Dam one room away from General Oliver's office. It was a good thing that in my NCR playthrough, I recruited the Brotherhood for the NCR, and their paladins were the first line of defense against the invading Legion troops. Take them and the Courier away, and I'm certain that those Legion Centurions would've had no problem punching through and killing the NCR general.

There are people who legitimately won’t play New Vegas because they want to spite New Vegas fans and because they fear they might turn into one due to what they’ve heard and seen online.

There’s a difference between liking New Vegas and being a New Vegas fan. Hell, you can even like New Vegas the most and hate the Bethesda games without being a New Vegas fan.

Honestly I've played Fallouts 1 & 2, and I love the story, the music and setting, but anyone that tells you that the OG games are better then the new games gameplay wise and you just need to "GIT GUD" are blinded by nostalgia. 1&2 are so fucking clunky and archaic its not funny. I shouldn't have to read a goddamn novel just to figure out how to play. And this coming from a guy in his 30s who played shit like Lord of the Realm 2.

It spreads to the rest of forces, too. They can withstand several shots from plasma and laser weapons before dying. Which makes no sense; they're not like the Enclave or the Brotherhood with guys covered in power armor, they're just dudes in skirts with leather armor on. The best they should be able to withstand are knives and maybe low-caliber gunfire; plasma rounds ought to be blowing holes in them.

Same here. I viewed fighting the Enclave in FO3 in the same vein as fighting the Legion or the NCR in FNV. I only bought FO3 because I heard you fight the Enclave there and I wanted to see them fight in a 3D environment.

Sad thing is, Obsidian proved they're no better than Bethesda after Outer Worlds came out. Mediocre to the extreme. Fallout 4 was a better game, and that game came out in 2015.

Their victory against Joshua Graham was due to luck, and we see the latter be proven true as all over the Mojave in FNV, the Legion acts unabated while the NCR is scared shitless of them.

The Legion is the lead faction in FNV, not the NCR. They're the one that's scaring the shit out of everyone while the NCR is reduced to a punchline. Outside of the Rangers, their army is a joke.

Not that Moore herself is incompetent, given she realizes the threat individual legionaries pose and actively trains her men in CQC drills so they have a hope just in case the Legion closes. He's not as smart as he thinks he is, but he's still smart enough to realize that the NCR has more than enough men and rifles to crush the Legion, if the Legion presents a single target for them to hit. Which is exactly what happens at Hoover Dam. The bulk of the NCR in California by contrast has rebuilt the place to prewar standards and has a functioning industrial economy with sufficient food and manpower to get through the game unabated even with the Mojave occupied.

His whole opinion is based around dealing with chucklefucks like Oliver and thinking his rangers have 20 years of bullshit in some place he doesn't give a shut about but notice how his projections completely change when he realizes they can just hold out for another year and pick the Legion apart after that. He's not scared that the NCR is fundamentally broken, he just thinks it's a boondoggle to be dragged down by a rival power. Those are different scenarios.

i have been playing fallout 3 recently (must have been over ten years since i last played it) and its still a pretty decent game. i like the game opens up and lets you go whereever you want (one could argue it dose it better then new vegas since it "forces" new players on a safer path) and it actually lets you be an outright bastard! as soon as i left the vault (after killing Butch mother) i immediately killed a junkie whore for her money, nuked Megaton on Mister Burken request and had an ghoul uprising, killing everyone in Tenpenny tower. (eating the rich. literally.) that was all in the first 6 hours of the game. when was the last time a triple A game lets you enslave people and sell them for profit? even bought my own sex slave that helps with that.

the game is showing its age however, with graphical glitches and crashes. it also outright looks ugly but the atmosphere dose well to sell the apocalypse setting.
