Fallout series

What initially attracted you to the fallout series?

For me I first got introduced through new vegas.I liked new vegas because of the well thought out lore and factions. I also liked new vegas because it didn't have the over the top bright 1950s aesthetic that the new games have
I saw a let's play from a small channel a decade and change ago. 10 Episodes in I ordered the game, 20 more episodes in it arrived.

Casschads, your response?

there is a dialog option basically calls for "the day of the rope" for ghouls. you bet your ass that line would be changed.
Speaking of ghouls, don't forget how demanding equal rights for ghouls in Tenpenny Tower results in them slaughtering the entire human population and hiding their bodies in the basement.

Last F4SE update for a bit I promise. The dev of F4SE is having issues actually figuring out what issues are caused by F4SE and what issues are caused by the mess that is the Next Gen patch, being able to recreate numerous issues modders have raised within vanilla Fallout 4. The Dev is hoping there will be a Next Gen patch patch soon to hopefully fix the numerous bugs introduced to the game with NG. Updating F4SE to a patch for NG won't take anywhere near as long as it did for updating to NG.
We both know it's somehow gonna be censored to shit, I won't be surprised if they flat out remove some really dark shit you could do in 3 like enslaving children.
Have there been cases of Microsoft/Bethesda retroactively removing/changing content in remasters? I feel like I've never heard of them doing that before.

I first got to play Fallout 3 on the PS3. I didn't buy that version myself, but I really got sucked into the world but never got to finish it at the time. When I built a PC to replace my netbook, I bought the GOTY on steam and played through the whole game and dlcs even on the low/lowest settings (because in 2013 I could only afford hardware from 2004-2005).

At this point I'm just so fucking fed up with overly complex, both mechanically and visually, games. Fo4 is a hellscape to install and restart. New vegas is easy in comparison. I want more simple games. I reinstalled FO3 on a whim and it was almost NV-like. Simple, slow, yet super intriguing. I guess that's the wonder of isometric indies.

And I just know the new TES and FO will both have 8 layers of AI slop to reach 50 fps

The freedom to just fuck around and do basically whatever you wanted, and the oppressively bleak world just sucked me in. And the restro futuristic aesthetics were a very novel combination to me at the time since I'd never seen anything quite like it. Still don't think there's anything that really matches the vibe the fallout games have.

Also pretty sure NV has the brightest and most over the top 50's aesthetic because, y'know, Las Vegas.

Whats funny is that everyone on reddit says new vegas is overrated but then everyone I see outside of reddit thinks new vegas is the best game
Everyone on reddit also says it's the greatest game ever made from what I saw. And everywhere else online. And saying anything other than will get you flamed harder than Joshua Graham.

Fact is that New Vegas stans are fucking annoying with how they come out like cockroaches to shill for their favorite game. Just like how Bethesda stans are pathetic faggots for not being able to cope with people liking any of the other games more for any reason. Meanwhile, the based Fallout Enjoyer who likes the series as a whole has to deal with endless shit flinging between two extremely exceptional groups of neckbeards trying to out shill eachother for online ass pats.

Kinda like the Star Wars Prequels. The Prequel stans think they're perfect, the Prequel haters unironically think their "childhood was raped".

I finally decided to play New Vegas for the first time, I got TTW running, after some tries since I'm retarded, but finally got to play, I'm loving it so far, btw is "The Frontier" compatible with TTW? I want to experience the cringe myself

I used to read a lot of stories people posted on The Sims Exchange. One guy, I forget his name, made a story that was basically a retelling of the Fallout 1 and 2 storylines. I really liked those stories so I looked into a little more and learned about the game. A few years later I managed to get FO1, 2 and Tactics in a box set. I've played all the mainline games since, except 76. After watching the TV show though... I think I'm done with this franchise. Fallout ended with New Vegas.

Ever since I installed the Jsawyer mod and its built-in difficulty spike, I've gotten into a little routine after every really scrappy fight: I buy up a ton of hooch and just drink out the pain in the Novac player home. After a really scrappy and bloody affair, like say trying to get at the Cazador egg pile near Jacobstown and Red Rock Canyon, I spend a few days at the Strip sipping Rum and Nukas, eating fine cuisine at The Gourmand and slumming it up in the Bon Vivant suite in ordinary attire, as if I'm not Mr. Courier Man who is the key player behind Mojave politics. It's dumb but it's become a genuine part of the game experience for me now.

What are some stupid routines you guys get up to?

With jwsayer mod? I don't play generally with that but i use a fork coming from VNV guide.
I rush power armor (had innate DR plus DT).

As someone who played the Frontier, its not worth it honestly. Its a slog that is cringe but that gameplay sucks so much ass that it honestly isn't worth setting up all the patches needed to play it just to have 3 minutes of cringe in 16 hours of boring Fallout mod gameplay. The only reason to download it is if you wanna use cars in the base game.

Replaying Fallout 3 via Tale of Two Wastelands on very hard/hardcore. Probably gunning for an unarmed/explosive drug build or a flamer(energy)/explosive drug build. Only running with the JSawyer mod (TTW patch) and I have to say that early game is a bit brutal, but I am enjoying it.
Writing is still terrible though. One of the missed opportunities I noticed was that nobody acknowledges you if wearing Talon Company armor. Could have a mix of NPCs asking how you got it, or a bit wary thinking that your part of their group. Another one was when talking to the scientist in Greyditch, there is no high INT or science skill check when he explains something to you. Was 4 or 5 variants of you saying "I don't get it slow down". His VA was awful to, like he's trying toi impersonate a HL1 scientist and doing a poor job at it.

EDIT: Huh going back to look apparently HE DOES have a check. Guess I just barely didn't make the mark with Science.

A bit of a cross-post from the Guntuber thread but Texas' district 23's congressional candidate Brandon Herrera made a replica of the NCR service rifle from Fallout: New Vegas, objectively the best Fallout game.
This is a autism moment but its always annoyed me that these Service Rifle Replicas never go all the way and charge from the bolt. Bonus points for mounting the dust cover on the top of the ejection port.

Ngl that’s cool and I would put wood furniture on my AR but I still liked the type 93 build better only because there was a lot more aesthetic pieces that had to be put on that makes it look like a completely different gun.
