Fallout series

Nah but they usually come out years aside from the modders, people obsessed with an almost decade old game and people with shitty rigs care about

From what I understand, the hardest part is going to be reconstructing analogues to all the FNV specific scripting that was chopped out of the FO4.exe (which is also considered one of the ESM files according to the game editor), as well as rebaking all the textures and meshes to handle a modernized game engine standard contemporary to FO4.

The game is absolutely gorgeous, you could almost believe it was released in the last couple of years.

It's also INSANELY difficult. I've been trying to get into the Super Duper Mart but my character gets killed whenever I get shot a couple of times, and because of FWE I can't spam food otherwise I overeat and there are penalties so I'm gonna have to basically sneak around and try to level up doing mundane shit because I'm getting fucking raped by everything that's not a radroach it's so fucking brutal. And on top of it all I'm playing on very hard because im not a faggot

A+++ would masochistically get killed two minutes again

One weakness that always bothers people about Fallout 3 is that you grew up in a vault without a lot of worldly experience, but still come out swinging as an unstoppable force of nature, which is fun to play yeah but feels a bit iffy from a story perspective.
All of the Fallouts had this problem, in 2 you were a fucking spear chucker wishing that people don't have guns in the beginning then later on you're blowing up people in Power Armor.

It's a lot harder in 1/2 to become Jesus' second coming, deathbringer to raiders. That's something that does slightly bug me about the 3D Fallouts, it's real easy to hit the max level and become death incarnate just by following the story.

There are mods for that though, so eh.

Oh, not necessarily. With careful exploits of bugs, save/reloading, and some shortcuts, you could become an asskicking badass very shortly into Fallout 2. Somewhat harder to pull off in Fallout 1, but they share the same game engine, so many bugs and exploits still work.

It's not even really a problem exclusive to Fallout, it's just an RPG thing really. Half the fun of most RPGs is starting in the gutter with a rusty knife and figuring out how to end up an unstoppable force of nature, so you're going to naturally figure out ways to do that really fast for the fun of shredding anything that opposes you. Fallout 3 is just the only one I can think of that opens with "I'm a naive teenager who grew up in a hole in the ground with 15 other people, and I've never seen the sky before. Want me to disarm that nuke for ya?" I know it's an overplayed complaint, but it's overplayed because it's a valid one.

Jumping straight to Operation Anchorage and going through a military training simulation at least gives a plausible in-story reason why you'd be comfortable disarming weapons and taking on groups of armed maniacs. Which then makes your character more relatable when they never back down from a challenge.

Granted, you can get Power Armor in the first ten minutes or so, but you actually got to know the game well enough to pull that off.

One of my favourite things to do in Fallout 3 was wipe out one of the larger settlements and then set up the corpses in sexual positions so it looks like everyone simultaneously died while having an orgy.

I'm currently playing New Vegas again. The first thing I did was head straight to Vegas. It's possible if you're really careful and stick to the hills.

The Navarro Run. Far as the quest goes, it gives you the second best armor in the game along with a variety of weapons. Not to mention the place gives off a ton of XP, especially for a low level character. Only thing standing in your way will mostly be hostile Enclave patrols and those bastards will end you well.

You can also save/reload abuse your chances at theft. It's possible for a noob to get some really nice gear for a five finger discount very, very early on if you play your cards right.

In fact, it's easier to do this in FO 1/2 then it is in the Bethseda games.

Ok I REALLY love how fucking brutal and unforgiving this game is

All of you who complain about how it doesn't make sense that someone right out of a vault (even with extensive BB gun training) would be able to turn into a killing machine should try at least the gameplay mods I added + very hard

Even a pack of fucking molerat is deadly to me right now and I'm at level 5. I stand a chance against a single raider in a gunfight. More than one and I'm dead. Well also my char is a girl and i made her as realistic as I could so base stats are

Str 4
Per 8
En 4
Ag 7
Int 7
Luck 7

and I tagged repair, sneak and medicine because that's what it feels like a girl living in a vault who's dad is a doctor would probably be like.

It forces me to use the game in a completely different manner. I actually have to be super aware of my environment. I have no clue when Im gonna get attacked because there's no [caution] or [danger] signs. Explosives, mines and laying traps is super important. I have to take in account tons of shit. It actually feels like how brutal the wasteland should feel. One hit to the face or a few bullets and I'm down for the count.

I'm having more fun with F03 than I've had at any point since the game was launched

How is your game stability with that mod roster? I am thinking to go back and do FO3 again too, but back in the day, I had horrible CTD problems while only running 5-6 mods simultaneously. Now with the Nexus's proprietary mod managing software, I don't think there should be as much trouble with conflicting mods, but I'm still a bit hesitant

That's actually a pretty fair concern. FO3's engine was always kinda wobbly, given it's goofy audio interpreter, the versions chained to Games For Windows Live being annoying to keep working right unless you severed the connection completely, and some other instability bugs.

I always found the Unofficial Patch would fix a lot of errors, and some FOSE plugins to reduce crash bugs also helped.

So I finally started properly playing FO3 and I have a few questions:
  1. I have a normal copy (not the GOTY Edition) as a download from a code on my XBox 1. Is it still possible for me to get the DLC (and avoid the bullshit ending)?
  2. Are there any locations that aren't brown, gray or green?
  3. Am I ever going to kill something that isn't a super mutant?

The game has a tint filter on it at all times. You'd need the PC version and mods to remove it.

There are mods that enhance the general color scheme but they don't exist on console
Am I ever going to kill something that isn't a super mutant?

Later on in the game you start fighting the Enclave and Talon company mercenaries but the general gist of combat in the game is most of the DC ruins (the lower right of the map) are filled with super mutants and the further you move up north the less of them you fight.

There's a few Super Mutant Hotspots; All of DC, one of the towns in the northern wasteland and a Vault towards the southwest I believe. Outside of that there is plenty of mercs, raiders, bugs, bears, robots, and so on to fight.

You might have to buy the DLC on the xbox marketplace on the internet if you can't find it in the Xbox 1 store.

There's a program that'll check your mods for compatibility and then reorder them so they'll play nice, or tell you why they can't. It's called LOOT, but I'd be surprised if you didn't know about it already.
