I thought the finale was pretty good but the ghouls family being the carrot on a stick between seasons is getting old. The literal first thing we see in this show is coop and his daughter getting caught off guard by the bombs yet the writers want us to think she somehow got saved without coop knowing where or how despite the circumstances.
I think the finale also killed off like 90% of the pre war characters we know (if you count hanks lobotomy as a death) so maybe Bethesda will stop with this idea for now.
It doesnt matter at this point. Season 2 ending pretty much proves my theory early ITT that Bethesda did not "kill off the past games lore/progression" but only 'delayed' as a half-assed apology to the fans.
This just sounds like cope from people who wanted the ncr and co to stay dead so they can be angry but now cant.
But hey I take that over totally killing off everything, I guess?
Agreed
i fucking hate the respawning trash mobs in 4
I love doing the few quests at vault 88 and having to wipe out raiders again just to fast travel!!!
How the fuck does not following the canon, retconing shit, and removing skills have anything to do with making it more accessible to women?
Nothing but saying you wanna make something already accessible more accessible to women is a good way to get good boy points.

Anyone noticed how since Fallout 4 it seems everyone and their dog has somehow lived for 200 years?
In Fallout 1 the Master is special because of his age, he saw the world before the bombs dropped, and that perspective shapes the way he sees the world.
Harold was the other pre war character in Fallout 1, but he was only as child when the bombs dropped. This seems to be carried over into Fallout 3 where all pre war ghouls were children when the war began, the exception being Desmond Lockheart in Point Lookout, who was a secret agent and part of the elite pre war. In New Vegas, Mr House was THE survivor of the Great war.

Some, but very few pre war characters.
But ever since Fallout 4 they're everywhere. Cryo chambers everywhere. Pre war ghouls everywhere. And with the tv show it has gotten absolutely bananas.
How did Moldaver live to be 200? Who knows! Probably a cryo chamber stuffed near somewhere.
You've got a canadian pre war fugitive somehow living in a vault.
The Ghoul having met and seen everything both pre and post nukes.
You like pre war characters so much so here's an entire vault that's just dozens upon dozens of silly bureaucrats having survived the nukes.
Its a shame they ruined the unique characteristic some characters/entities the universe had where you might meet 1-2 intelligent beings that lived pre war (ghouls, AI, etc) oftentimes they were hidden away but when/if you found them they were interesting because they gave you an idea of what the world lost or how they can reminisce on the past world and also give their own insight on the current wasteland. It was a unique thing but the issue is the more characters you introduce from the pre war era the less unique those stories and perspective comes. What was once a one in a million occurance for the survivors of the atomic bombs is slowly becoming closer to a dime a dozen. Not to mention how many of them treat it so casually or it seems like they do, shrugging off that the world is hell on earth. That might make sense for the ghouls that had to live through it directly, they had 200 years to cope with the ordeal, but so many people get cryogenically frozen or are just randomly without reason explained to have witnessed or know of pre war life with 1st hand experience that its silly and kills the gimmik. The Sole Survivor sort of has one bit of dialogue when he first hops out of the vault realizing the worlds ended, then it instantly shifts to him doing his own thing and the occasional whine about Shawn in the main quest. Now theres a whole vault of middle managers who were waiting to be called by their employers and their reactions to the wasteland were all very underwhelming. Even Lorenzo is more interesting being a eldritch abomination from the pre war era and hes basically a borg because hes got a alien computer wired to his skull despite the fact he never does or has done anything since.

A better question is what percentage of the 5% of regular gamers that are women would be interested in buying a Fallout game? 2%? 3%?

They're killing their IP for probably 2-5k sales at most.

You'd sell a lot more than that by adding bare tits and ignoring the female audience entirely but I guess then you wouldn't get le heckin wholesome chungus good goy updoots on reddit.
When it came to raw data, the earliest data had the ratio of 80/20 in favour of men. Then a study in the 2010s made it a 60/40 split, and ever so slowly it crept to 52/48. Then Capcom revealed a ratio of 82/19 in 2024/25 in favour of men, which shouldn't be the case given every study from the past 20 years says it's 50/50, but anyone with a brain would tell you Animal Crossing isn't Fallout 4–

Fallout New Vegas. So trying to make a game appeal to a demographic that simply isn't worth chasing is a fool's chore. Capcom just make their male characters handsome and that checks the box in their eyes in appealing to their female demographics.

Companies would love nothing more to make one game that everybody can play, but the main issue is whether such a game is a game anyone actually wants to play. I place a lot of the blame on stockholders/CEOs who sacrifice potential quality in the name attaining the ever-mythical "universal appeal".

They're all effectively trying to ape Nintendo, which is said to have such appeal, but I'm not unconvinced Nintendo's popularity is a psyop.

Now theres a whole vault of middle managers who were waiting to be called by their employers and their reactions to the wasteland were all very underwhelming.
Considering how they acted i assume working for vault tec made them normalized to the idea of a nuclear war and wasteland but knowing their fates tells me they were barely given depth because they were gonna be killed off.
They need to ban the idea of pre war characters for season 3 and focus on characters from the current era especially with tribal territory being entered.
Even Lorenzo is more interesting being a eldritch abomination from the pre war era and hes basically a borg because hes got a alien computer wired to his skull despite the fact he never does or has done anything since.
Shame he has a cool drip and a cool gun his son can make for me.

I think settlement building was pretty unisex in its appeal that guys could make a cool house and maybe a little bit of virtual dollhouse building some stores/farms and girls could go hard into the virtual dollhouse building every settlement into a trading post or town or whatever.
It's why i liked 76 only letting you build at your camp cause it meant i could make a cool house with a store and not have to worry about any settlement supply line bullshit from 4

A lot of my problems with the finale have been already mentioned but one that I also have is the presence of the Legion in the show. They've been gone for multiple episodes and only showed up again in the finale because the plot necessitated it. It would've been a lot better if we had at least a couple more scenes of them, especially of Macaulay Culkin. Smh first they were cut down in content in New Vegas and now in the show they're present less than the Vault plots which have mostly been muh incest club muh clubs.

1) Why the fuck was nobody guarding the Cold Fusion location, Knight Niggacus Maximus just waltzed in and ran away with it
2) Why the fuck did the Legion just say 'OK, WE BALL' and let Legate Kevin McAllister proclaim himself Caesar just like that, he was uncharismatic as FUCK, nobody bothered asking about the paper OG Caesar Edward Sallow left behind, THE THING THEY HAD BEEN FIGHTING OVER FOR YEARS
3) Did the NCR just fucking wall glitch into town, where the fuck did that full platoon of soldiers come from?
4) Why did those Vault-Tec retards not just fucking kill 'The Schnozz' MacLean when he was out cold or the second he came to, they were obviously not going to let him walk away?
5) Why are there so many diversity NIGGERS in high ranking positions (Overseer Betty, Hank's wife, NCR platoon leader, etc...)
6) The friend of Maximus turning into a ghoul or whatever the fuck is not funny, it's annoying as shit and is going nowhere plotwise
7) First episode seeing Legion remnants it's shown to have like, at most 100 people left, did they do the GoT Dothraki multiplier cheat and march on Vegas with like 1000+ people?
8 ) Why is Lucy so fucking retarded and gullible after being betrayed or scammed like 10+ times now
9) Why does that one Vault-Tec intern survive while the others all fucking died in that room?
10) Why did the radroaches fucking VANISH INTO THIN AIR when it was clear they were eating the Vault-tec people
11) Did the ENTIRE BoS just fucking kill eachother to the last man, there is no conclusion to this internal conflict other than set up the East Coast BoS for a next Season
12) If the BoS kills abominations, then WHY THE FUCK DO THEY ALLOW A TROON IN THEIR RANKS????!!!!
13) Why is it always the fucking Enclave man...?
14) Does Legate Lanius just not fucking exist, he was the de facto second in command of Caesars Legion and feared by all

And I have so many more questions and gripes.
The show is fine in terms of setting and atmosphere, but holy fuck the plot makes dogshit sense and that is without caring about them breaking established lore every 10 seconds

13) Why is it always the fucking Enclave man...?
Lazy writing? Why bother making new factions when you can just reuse the old ones and put the Brotherhood everywhere. At least if they're going to Colorado next season there finally might be new ones unless we find even more Brotherhood there. Although the Enclave does make sense for being responsible for the nukes.

Fallout 76 is as cheap as sin right now, I could buy a 100 copies but Fallout 1st is a genuine millstone around the game's neck.
I'm hoping in less than 10 years it somehow gets an offline version so I can give it a try. Failing that, maybe someone can extract all the assets and make a "full conversion mod" for Fallout 4 or something. I'll probably play it one day, but that day isn't today. I got TTW to finish, then those full conversions for 2, maybe I'll also do a cheeky run-through of one. Maybe after some patches Fallout 4 will be stabler than before.

I also enjoyed the settlement building of 4, I just wish there was a way to actually tidy up the shitholes you're turning into shit-homes. We're Nate the Rake, why can't we can't we rake the rumble and shit out of the way? It such an interesting mechanic that is let down by it working to no real end. I said it before, but I think settlements ought to have acted as some quasi war score system from Mass Effect 3, where building up more towns and resources would have you better prepared to face the Institute.

In Fallout New Vegas there's a hidden "morale check" for Camp Forlorn Hope, the one close to Nelson. If you assault Nelson asap, you'll get two regular soldiers to assist. However, if you:
1) Bring in 30 dog tags to the quarter master
2) Bring in 30 Legion ears to the guy in the barracks
3) Procure the supplies and fix all the other issues favourable to the camp.
Those two soldiers go:
2 soldiers -> 4 soldiers -> 4 patrol rangers -> 4 NCR veteran rangers.
So a system akin to this. It'd make it narratively fulfilling to build up your network of towns for it to culminate in a synthesis of all your resources and towns you bring the hammer down on the Institute and pretty much anyone else.

1st really isn't that much of a problem as you keep any "exclusive" items after your sub ends along with being able to use the endless scrap storage just no putting stuff in. Even the survival tent is negated by most locations having crafting stations and being able to use other players tents.

Thats why i recommended the scrap anything mod a few pages back, its mind blowing what Bethesda thought was acceptable to keep as set dressing and what should be scrapable

You can't even get rid of pre-existing skeletons that are on the settlement lots, even if you physically drag it someplace else it'll just respawn where it was. You can't scrap any other dead bodies either, in that one settlement that was a dilapidated house with feral ghouls to kill, I had to manually dump them off the cliff into the water one-by-one in order to get rid of their corpses. I don't understand how dumb Bethesda shit like this gets past their QA to begin with.

at least mods exists for a reason
I'm playing FO4 with the FUSION modlist; letting doing criticals outside of V.A.T.S fixes near anything wrong with this piece of overvalored trash.

> Set up the emotional dilemma of killing the mainframe with the representative lady's head
> Set up the moral dilemma of control or chaos for the wasteland
> Lucy kills the mainframe
> LOL this actually doesn't matter, Agent Cooper got what he wanted anyway

Making a couple settlements was alright, but the issue is that it almost completely replaced all towns and cities. There's what, Goodneighbour and Diamond City in FO4. You want to have more towns to visit? Have fun making them yourself, and they'll have no content. It's just completely inferior to the previous games and doesn't work.

i love clearing out nests of raiders and gunners only to turn tiny shitboxes into tiny shitboxes with generic npcs that send you on generic quests for infinity that have pointless defenses because enemies will spawn in behind any turrets you set up to lock down any weak point that can be broken through. i love the burden of responsibility in exchange for slave fields producing infinite amounts of every resource i have never needed because you can't harvest adhesives the way you can harvest everything else.

A gun shop local to me had a Colt New Agent in the consignment section and I was seriously tempted to buy it and have it customized to look like A Light Shining in Darkness.

Need somewhere to sperg about the fallout tv show

I was pretty lukewarm on season 1. I thought it was pretty mediocre at best. Season 2 on the other hand is the biggest pile of meandering slop ive put myself through in a while. Ive created my list and now its time for the airing of the grievances, in no particular order.

1. Bethesda Fallout is apparently incapable of creating an interesting story that doesnt involve the main character trying to find a family member. Fallout 3: I gotta find my dad! Fallout 4: I gotta find my kid! Fallout TV: I gotta find my dad! (AGAIN) or I gotta find my kid AND my wife. Its just the same initial conflict over and over and over and over again for eternity. Sorry, these boring characters arent particularly compelling! I dont really care if the ghoul (who is kind of a fun character even if he is just the man with no name) finds his boring ass family 230 years after nuclear armageddon. I dont care if Lucy finds her mustachio twirling villian dad. BORING

2. Theres basically nothing going on in the wasteland outside of the ghoul/lucy trying to find their family members. The entire world feels fucking empty and BORING. NCR? sorry blew up and is presumably gone until they show up in freeside in the literal last 10 minutes of the season finale (where the fuck did they come from? why did they come to freeside? WHAT IS GOING ON.) The legion? theres like 50 dudes who have been camping next to the body of Caeser for 15 years. What are they doing? literally nothing. They show up to make some shitty "jokes" then they get blowed up by the ghoul with no name in a 30 second sequence at the end of the episode. House? Sorry hes in screensaver mode because he doesnt have cold fusion which he didnt have before? oh and also the strip is just full of deathclaws and nobody lives there anymore. Freeside is just people walking around on the street infront of the silver rush and the atomic wrangler. Brotherhood is apparently a massive nationwide force and we spend the first few episodes watching them basically do nothing and then blow each other up. The vault scenes are a slog and basically amount to nothing the whole season. What im getting at is I find the main plot uninteresting and in addition theres no interesting side plots or characters.

3. The fucking enclave. How many times do we have to do the enclave shit. In the vein of the star wars sequals "No one ever really dies". They also do nothing this season.

4. The humor. Joss Wedon should be tried at the hague for what he has done to film/television writing. Its like a marvel movie in that the show isnt an overt comedy, but any possible tension is constantly being undermined by every fucking character having a quippy EPIC one liner after something happens. Its AWFUL. even just straight up jokes when kevin mccallister says hes going to create a "Caesers Palace" is EYEROLLING.

5. Cinematography. Despite some pretty good sets and props the show looks like every modern Amazon/Netflix/Disney+ product (thinking specifically of The Rangz of Power) i.e. SHIT

6. The whole vault tech management plot is contrived and retarded. "I know its been 200 years since the world got obliterated but I NEED to do well on my quarterly performance report". News flash retards! Vault tech got nuked!

7. The pacing. This whole season could be condensed into 2 to 3 hours. There is soooooo much filler in this fucking show.

8. This is a minor sperg criticism that doestn REALLY matter but the writer of the show doesnt realize that in fallout NV they werent fighting over NV they were fighting over the Hoover Dam lmao. Also for some reason freeside citizens love the NCR despite the fact that there were huge tensions between freeside citizens and NCR immigrants.

In conclusion this show is a massive slopfest of the highest order and the hogs of reddit on r/fallout LOVE it. seriously check out the subreddit if you want to see consoomer soyjaks in real life
