Fallout series

I tried playing Fallout 3 again. Couldn't do it after remembering how much time I spent traveling under ground and killing ghouls.
I tried too with Tale of Two Wastelands mod and I just felt unmotivated to travel the wastelands. It's just do tedious to go through the metro way that I `killall and then resurrect those who might be needed.

My cousin bought FO4 as an early birthday gift for me. I love all of the other games, so hopefully this one isn't as botched as people are making it sound.

Do you love great combat systems and customization? Are you okay with an average plot and shoddy writing? You will have a blast.

Considering the hype and all, one has like how marketing and the likes are spent into the quality we are hearing about with Fallout 4.

I kinda find it weird that everyone is singing the praises of the Witcher 3 (Which is a legendary game in my own opinion), but avoids the major flaws the game had (Lacked real replay value, due to an inferior combat system, crappy loot that didn't feel rewarding enough, and a relatively stagnant open world which lacked the fun of exploring).

Even then, they did produce a game close to FO4's quality with a significantly lower budget, and I praise Projekt Red for that.

I'm still really looking forward to this.

Bethesda games, to me, are more about exploring the world, and it's interesting to have a glimpse of what it was like before everything went to shit. The idea of exploring and surviving after the apocalypse -- now that you have a character who knows what was lost rather than some idealized fantasy -- is playable enough even without the epic storytelling. You can explore the apocalyptic landscape with a different perspective in mind. In fact, one of my favorite things about Skyrim and Fallout 3 was that you'd come across random people in your wanderings and find little details that these people put precious hours into creating with the knowledge that some players wouldn't even notice.

Basically, as far as the narrative goes, I'm not bothered by the potential of it not being some epic tale.

The review embargo ends in five minutes, I'm going to order some delivery food crack a beer and see what people think.

Oh wait no I won't I got this shit preloaded... for reasons I can't explain it's half priced if you buy it in China btw. I'm going to drink myself into a coma and hopefully when I wake up it'll be ready to go

Ok I'm skimming the reviews. Everyone saying it's pretty damn good apart from a few issues.

After playing it 3 times, I don't really share your opinion. I think the combat is good and the skill system is pretty great too. It's not Dark Souls-tier combat, but it's definitely leagues ahead of what games like Skyrim or Dragon Age: Inquisition had to offer.

So the main story is complete gobshite but, man I can't remember the last time I played any open world game for the main story to begin with, except maybe Grand Theft Auto.

It's buggy, weird, a bit janky, but still mechanically fun, so a Bethesda game. If you were some sort of sperg who bought into the hype expecting something revolutionary, I can see how you'd get upset, but for what a rational person expected, it's well worth the $40 I paid for it. That said if you bought it direct from steam at $60 I pity you. But then again I say the same to anyone who buys games at fullprice these days anyway.

That said I did experience a bug where it rained corpse bits when i scene transitioned, which... might be the weirdest fucking bethesda bug Ive ever seen.

But all in all, It's OK. It's not great, it's not revolutionary, it's not a buy it now game, but it's not bad either, it's just. Ok.
