Fallout series

For once Oxhorn actually made an interesting observation in one of his videos. Despite the Institute having so many resources at their disposal, the laser rifle they produce is somehow inferior to the one that was made before the war. While probably not an intentional this is a funny bit of environment building. The fact that despite being geniuses they overthink a problem to the point where they produce a worse solution than if they approached it more simplistically.
First of all, Oxhorn is never right, second of all I got the impression that the Institute Laser was meant to be a cheap, mass produced weapon rather than a specialized high-end model like the pre war AER 9 or AER 12(Wattz 2000) were. I could be wrong, but it just doesn't make sense to have so many of them laying around unless they were supposed to be surplus models that were JUST effective enough against most wasteland threats without wasting too much more resources creating them, remember conserving power and materials is a big part of Institute's problems and simply upgrading their reactor is considered a major plot point.

Pull my cynical card; mildly disappointing like New California. I stand by my earlier stated beliefs that Fallout is distinctively American, as Metro is Russian and STALKER Ukrainian. Setting it anywhere outside the contiguous 48 is a terrible idea.
Agreed, a good chunk of Fallout's identity is the 50's americana. Either they keep it in, and results in "Fallout, but the Big Ben is on the background", or they play into the UK equivalent of post-war identity (Which from the outside looking in, probably is comparatively sparser, since they were mostly busy trying to rebuild the country), will require a lot more work to write, and will probably change a lot of the game's tone and feel, to the point you may as well be playing "We Happy Few, but we went nuclear this time"

That doesn't sound too bad though. I know 50s Americana is where it all started and you might as well start a new IP in that case but seeing 50s era post nuclear Britain is still intriguing, especially since you don't really see it that much.
In fact, could anyone describe what 50s era Britain was like? I've honestly got no clue about it.

Just see the movie "When the wind blows".

They should have made a (true) Killing Floor sequel instead which is in turn distinctively British
I wish 2 never happened so we could have a true followup. There was a third game announced at this year's Gamescom, so there may be seem optimism here? :optimistic:

Third game's trailer goes all out with over the top evil machinery inside slick white modern science fiction facilities. I think we can safely say goodbye to British Army soldiers calling zeds wankers in run down grimy streets of London.

TTW really does tie the two games together, it's almost a completely new experience compared to just F3 or NV by itself. Just wish the NV portion of TTW wasn't so easy after all the level ups and gear you bring over, and no taking that away artificially doesn't make for a better game
Use the Benny Humbles You mod, it makes it so when you begin the NV segment your level is reset and your gear is taken, iirc you can configure it to be able to reclaim your gear later on but yeah.

I was referring to this mod, actually. No, I don't think it works, your badass of a character shouldn't be "humbled" by a simple gunshot to the head after everything they went thru in DC. The entire point of the mod in my eyes is that you should be able to come out of Mitchell's shack with all your arsenal and set of companions and be ready to explore right from there. Some harder content that amplified how dangerous areas the devs didn't want you to go or more bandits/visible skirmishes between NCR and Legion should have been added to the game to make the game harder for a player that is going to rush to Mojave from Vault 101 and keep things interesting for high level characters, maybe a few rogue Brotherhood ambushes specifically aimed at high level players, complete with enemies using Pulse grenades so that even Power Armored users don't feel safe. Remember, inlore the entire Mojave is a warzone between Legion and NCR and we barely get to see that, several highway routes have also been shut down due to dangerous wildlife and sheer amount of bandits running around, so it's not like there isn't an excuse to make the game harder.
I'm sure there are mods for this, but I don't think artificially crippling your character is a good design choice, especially when the "Amnesia" aspect of the story is handled so half-assed that it might as well not even be there.

The remake of the America Rising mod for Fallout 4 has recently released, it adds the Enclave as a faction complete with questline, its supposedly "seamlessly integrated" into vanilla Fallout 4's main story, I made a new character to play through and see if its decent or a the Frontier level of a mess, so far its nice, except for the voice acting, I'm only two quests in right now.

Link? Always going to download more Enclave content

Lazy bastards should finish Outer Worlds 2 first before even hinting at New Vegas 2, if this is what it is. The latter doesn't need a sequel or a remastering like the former.
Don't they have some yearly meetup or something in Goodsprings, where a bunch of smelly nerds in ranger costumes hang out in a town of like, 5 people? Yeah, here's the page. I think this is the second year they're doing it. I don't think this is anything to do with a remake/sequel (for better or worse.)

That's cool if that's what it is about. I bet the saloon loves that it's become such an iconic piece of gaming culture

TK Mantis made a video on the one last year and everyone in town seems to love the day, not least because it brings in truckloads of tourists. Its nice that goodsprings has a good relation ship with FNV, would suck if they despised it.
