I think Fallout Tactics comes close to capturing this feeling of hopelessness towards the end
Tried playing it but it feels way different compared to any other game in the series, put it on the insane difficulty and the bullets never connect to the enemy and when they do it's like throwing pebbles of course i put it on normal after that but all i do is go guns blazing and thats kinda boring. Also the intro didn't really make sense to me, why are they saying BOS came out a vault when in FO1 its is clearly said they originated from Mariposa

The intro is pretty boring, it's mostly there to introduce you to the game mechanics and test your build. If you're having trouble right at the start, that probably means you chose a suboptimal build. The game really kicks off a few missions in, once you have better gear and a full squad of soldiers. The game gets more fun too, you get to recruit deathclaws, ghouls, supermutants and even a few robots later on. I would give it a second chance.
Yeah, the intro doesn't make much sense, but the devs didn't know much about Fallout games. There was also confusion as to if Tactics would be a proper Fallout 3 or not, so the lore kinda goes all over the place, but the intro is about as bad as it gets. I always chose to interpret the "vault" as a literal bunker, ie Lost Hills, makes a lot more sense. Basically, after the Vault Dweller joined the Brotherhood in Fallout 1 and single handedly not only destroyed both the Vats but the Cathedral as well, that would have otherwise wiped out the Brotherhood, the radical minority that wants to open the door to the outsiders(much like the Lyons Brotherhood on the East Coast would later do) argue that the Vault Dweller is proof that they're right and the elders are wrong. With how up the ass BOS is with their internal politics, you can guess what the elders thought of that, and they send quite literally the entire minority on a suicide mission to chase the remnants of the Master's Army up East(you do get to meet them eventually, and some of them even join up with the Brotherhood around the halfway point as your recruits). The radioactive tornadoes of the Midwest(that are mentioned by Cassidy in Fallout 2 but you don't really get to see in the game itself) tear the blimps apart and the minority ends up in Chicago, where they lick their wounds and put their philosophy to the test by doing a little empire building. By the time the game starts, the BOS just got back on it's feet and is protecting the local tribes against raiders...at the cost of their young and food, of course. Once the BOS gets strong enough, they continue heading SouthEast, in order to chase down the Master's remnants. The game has a much more sinister villain than mere super mutants, however.

Im suprised nobody here is talking about the shitshow that is fallout london. Supposed to release in april. Delayed. And from there its snowballed into an absolute shitshow of lies deceit and tomfuckery

One look at the reddit and you see half their own fanbase turned against them.

Why did they delay it?
To save you 30 minutes of a fat bald guy speaking dead air, "next gen messed up alot of things and we have to fix them. only...that was wrong.

As somehow, a german news outlet somehow got it, that they were doing both at the same time, THE WHOLE TIME. Which means that the version that they had finished since april has been just sitting there and they've done nothing with it.

They apparently cant talk much about anything because they have an nda... an unofficial has an NDA.

Not to mention they straight up blame bethesda to the bbc for not telling them about the updat, ,despite them knowing it was coming well in advance like we all did.yes, somehow they got a fucking bbc interview for their shitty mod

To top it all off, they said, i don't know if it was on this interview or another one, THAT BETHESDA RELEASED THE UPDATE PURPOSEFULLY SO THEY COULDN'T GET THEIR MOD OUT. BECAUSE BETHESDA CARES ABOUT THEIR SHITY MOD PROJECT.

Did i mention this shitshow has a merch store? https://my-store-c4744c.creator-spring.com/

They'll get real mad if you mention it.

There discord is a disheveled mess aswell. As shown above in that screenshot (I'd post more but somehow im banned... despite only lurking there), they ban anybody who criticizes them or questions them. Professional.

this mod is having the worst pr shitshow in fallout modding in a while, and the mod hasn't even released. Will it be frontier 2.0? No idea, but right now its a shitshow.

What was the first Fallout game for the users here, and is it even your favorite one?
My first Fallout was Fallout 1. Got it from a games magazine and somehow managed to finish it with little English skills back then.
For a favorite it's kinda hard. If I could give myself brain damage and play FNV with no past knowledge I would say that. But after replaying FNV 8 times it doesn't hit the same. Fallout 1 is in a similar place, great game but the more you replay it the more you can see the rough edges. Right now for me I would say Fallout 4. It's not a good RPG, it's not the best game but out of the Fallout library it's one that I can play right now and have a decent time.

I was suspecting this tbh, obviously the mod is made by gay retards but im still curious how it turns out IF IT EVEN GETS RELEASED

There's a one click on downgrader on the Nexus, what's stopping the FO London devs from just releasing it and linking to the downgrader? It takes like give minutes and all the "Next Gen update adds is some ugly buggy Creation Club shit and an ugly buggy widescreen mode.

There's no reason to play the updated version.

I remember them complaining on twitter directly to Bethesda for not announcing them about the update and the lack of respect or something

I mean I hate Bethesda I really fucking hate Bethesda but why the fuck would they have to direct official communications to some group of rando fan modders?

That's some major ego and arrogance there.

If this is bad I hope Four Decent Friends stream it. Their Frontier streams are peak comedy.

Because the thing is probably a broken pile of shit. There's a reason There's only 1 video of gameplay of it.

I mean shit, here you got fallout miami that does streams literally developing the mod in front of you in the creation kit, you got capital wasteland remaking the dlcs from 3 when they take a break from developing the main remake (i can't wait to play the pitt thats what they're working on now), and then you just have london that has no story shown, no gameplay except the intro, no nothing. And all this added bullshit?

This mod will be the next frontier. Mark my words. And i guarantee you instead of deathclaw mating and child sex slaves, it'll be tranny nonsense and other modern day bullshit. I mean just look at the people developing it.

If we discount general incompetence and lazyness then the next answer is pride and attention.
They probably saw all the publicity Fallout 4 it's self was getting, and how it was negative and thought that if they release now they would get less attention and have a negative undertone.
Next Gen Update can't be the big news. Fallout London has to be the big news.

I had pretty much zero expectations for The Capital Wasteland team but I was pretty impressed with their Point Lookout mod. It's about as close to a one to one remake of the original DLC as possible.

Much respect to them, they're obviously real Fallout fans instead of wannabe tourists like most modders.

Them and the fact that project arroyo and the vault 13 teamed up, meaning they at least have some competent leadership, AND vault 13 has a demo on the way, has me cautiously optimistic. If i get to play remakes of 1-3, I'll be happy.

Miami has devs that'll develop the mod in front of ya, how much more transparent do you get. But i ain't as excited for that one as its enclave and im afraid it'll conflict with america rising 2 story,Which is by far my favorite mod in fallout period.

F4nv is a tossup. I wanna think they'll finish it but i ain't gonna expect from them like i do capital because they hardly release anything about it.

London. Just no. If that thing releases its gonna be shit. And if it don't... well at least we can laugh at the faggots that "made" it.

I can generally respect anyone who says it, 1 or NV are for varying reasons. 2 does have some improved gameplay elements that can lead to some preferring it to 1 for example.
The second is definitely better gameplay wise, but the story is another matter.

On another note, I recently played and beat Fallout Tactics. Can't quite say I'd recommend the game unless you really like the series and I don't say that because I thought it was bad or because it's "not Fallout". It's just that like the previous two games. If you don't have a good idea what you're doing (in particular, how you should build your characters) which you very likely won't, then you're going to struggle and probably restart your playthrough. Also, items such as ammo and consumables will not restock. This, however, shouldn't be too much of a problem if you just stick with doing missions although that oddly enough eads to the other problem I had with the game. There isn't really any point to leveling up outside doing missions. It's boring in most cases, you gain too little experience, and there's a good chance the enemies won't drop anything you want. I suppose in a way I should be thankful for not having to level grind, but that's very peculiar in an RPG don't you think?

I am/was very excited for FOLON, I even made quite a few posts in this thread about it and giving updates, but the current turn is very sad and is making it seem like a even bigger clusterfuck than The Frontier, a project they made many jokes about in the past. A point I saw brought up that interested me is that we haven't seen much gameplay, we saw at most 20 or so minutes of it. The mod is supposed to be about 40 hours of content, yet the only content we've seen is the intro.
Not to mention they straight up blame bethesda to the bbc for not telling them about the updat, ,despite them knowing it was coming well in advance like we all did.
To defend the devs a tiny bit here, we didn't know when the update was releasing for a very long time, it was delayed a few times, and the release date of the 25th was announced a week or so in advance. The mod was supposed to release on the 23rd, so a week away from launch they learned that the big update that would fuck everything up was releasing 2 days after their massive mod was.

The thing with the Frontier is that it's shitshow only started AFTER release, FOLON Isn't even out yet and its went to hell. Kinda impressive to be honest.

Is speech or science good in Tactics ?

Speech is nonexistent as for science, I'm not exactly sure what its use is for other than accessing certain terminals. I've heard, spoiler alert, that having high science lets you do more damage to a late game enemy type you will be facing, but I have no idea if that's true because, in typical Fallout 1 and 2 fashion, the game doesn't tell you that (another gripe I have with the early games), and I never really bothered to test whether one of my characters with a high science skill did more damage compared to the other characters.

The game is as it sounds more of a tactical game where all the non-combat stuff doesn't really matter that much.

What are some interesting robot concepts you have for the Fallout universe? I think a cool idea would be a roomba type robot that post war raiders strap a mine to and turn into a kamikaze drone.

Should've gave synths one of those boston dynamics style dog robots. I mean its a boston company, should've made a parody of it.

Super mutants have the hounds, raiders have the guard dogs, and synths could have a robot dog that if you target its legs in vats and cripple on it falls over and can't get up.

I wish we would have some more cyborgs (like actually look like one) similar to Lou from Fo1

Is there a patch similar to the ones of 1 and 2 that fixes the resolution issues ?
