Fallout series

Played it unmodded for years. while it is playable, it runs and chugs like ass. when you notice the shutter, you cant unsee it and will make you sick to your stomach.
no you must pay nexus mods 7 dollars a month for over 6 gb worth of bloat from this install guide from (popular faloout tuberrr)
sometimes the mods will come with so much bloat you will accidentally install fallout new vegas for a third possibly even forth time ( based on file size nv is 10gb with all dlc ) if you miss like 1 or 2 check boxes that are really tiny or miss a file/config tweak or bug fix that causes memory issues or crashes.

You don't have to pay Nexus money at all to use it though?
You need an account to download now but that's about it.
Maybe it's just because I have good internet but the download speed penalty for not paying for Nexus gold or whatever the fuck they call their bullshit is negligible.
Honestly, if anyone is paying them money they're fucking suckers.

iirc the download cap for free users is 2mb/s which isn't all that big of a deal anyway. The bigger benefit is how it prompts you with a free vs premium choice every single time you download a file

Yeah, In Shining Armor does absolutely nothing because whoever programmed it made it check “Energy” (not an actual category) as opposed to “EnergyWeapons”. Apparently JSawyer fixes it, though.
I'm pretty sure the Unofficial patch does as well.
And Tale of Two Wastelands.
Besides that though I think there's a couple other perks that either do not work or give incorrect effects from what their description says.

Speaking of, I'll shill one more mod. This is the mod I was talking about that disables the main storyline in Fallout 3 when running TTW but leaves all of the side quests and such intact (While also deleting references to you being the vault dweller in places.) True Open World DC.
Basically it's Fallout 3, without the shitty part! 8)
There's also a small mod that completely removes the start in DC button as well which goes quite well with that mod.

EDIT: I haven't gotten to DC myself yet in my playthrough. I'm running a fork of SawyerBatty for TTW, with an addon called "Rebirth" that basically removes the retarded "Enemies that always scale with you." thing from FO3 and makes everything a set level like in New Vegas. Since I have FPGE installed I'll probably end up at least completing the FNV main quest before taking the trip over to DC. Normally I stick to vanilla but this was the only mod I saw that un-retarded Fallout 3 so to speak.

After completing New Vegas for the first time and reading this thread I decided to revisit older games starting with Fallout 1. I installed the et tu so it played in Fallout 2 engine. It was really choppy so I had to change max refresh rate setting in nvidia panel.
I got to say it was as good as I remembered it. At first I planned to do melee+big guns but decided against it because I remember having ammo issues back in the day. I shouldn't have been worried. Plenty of ammo to go around. Probably will do that build in Fallout 2. So I did the classic small guns, lockpick, speech tag and later transitioned into energy weapons by tagging it on level 12(fun thing it doubles invested points so I was instantly 200%). Sniper + .223 pistol was a very potent combo but upgraded plasma rifle and alien blaster were the king. Super muties had no chance. Death animations were really fun. I was surprised how many things I didn't remember, misremembered or outright missed when I played it the first time. For example I have missed
that necropolis gets destroyed by super mutants if you take too long or that key in military base that lets you blow up master hideout. I always killed the bastard with my own hands.
Great game overall. Nothing beats its oppressive atmosphere. I wish we had something more modern and less annoying than Underrail which isn't a bad game but build autism is a bit much for me. I also hate the crafting.

Necropolis is destroyed 110 days after the start of the game or 30 days after you killed the mutants \ completed Seth's quest. The game only recognizes this if you enter the city and see dead ghouls.
Personally I find talking the master into killing himself to be the most satisfying way of dealing with him

I’d argue the truly iconic faction of Fallout is the Khans. If they make an appearance, the game is legit. They’re a mirror of the changing nature of the wasteland; being strong in 1, revitalized but weaker in 2, to victimized and pathetic drug dealers and mob in New Vegas. As much as the games talk about the NCR and Brotherhood, the Khans are an important faction.

they deserved what happened to them in bitter springs

I believe you need a premium account for automatic downloads, no? Otherwise you need to click constantly on the "manual download" button.

Okay fuck it, I'll shill one more set of mods that I found because I actually really like them. So you know how in the vanilla game all of the Super Mutants besides Marcus all look the fucking same? Just with different accessories?
Well, I found a few mods that improve their looks and bring them closer to the classic depiction of Super Mutants as well as just in general giving them more diverse appearances.
Menace of the New West does two things. It gives the super mutants animations that are closer in vibe to how they moved in the classic games as well as giving many of the mutants in-game unique faces so they don't all look like the same face copy and pasted. Honestly the animations are really cool.
Sadly doesn't work for TTW however there is a patch that enables the DC super mutants to use the same animations. Frankly I'm fine with them looking different.

Second is the Classic Super Mutant Armor mod which as you would expect changes their outfits to be closer to the classic versions. (There is a Menace of the New West patch so make sure to use it.) but not only does it change their outfits it gives some of the mutants HAIR! Which I always thought it was really weird how almost all of them were fucking bald in the new games.
Oh yeah and third and final there is a retexture mod that makes them colored a bit closer to the classic.
EDIT: Maybe don't use the retexture since I notice it seems to cause a bug with Neil where his mohawk becomes the same color as his skin.

I really enjoy these kinds of mods. While I do try to limit myself to cosmetic mods barring bug fixes and such to prevent complications during my playthroughs I can't help but find these mods that translate things from the classic games into 3D to be very charming.
And they're all cosmetic only from my understand so they shouldn't cause problems. But you also never know with this game.

I thought FO4 survival would be impossible evil nightmare difficulty but its not that bad and so much more enjoyable. Actually exploring the world in between fast travel points is really enjoyable and establishing settlements feels really useful. Finishing quests actually feels like an accomplishment again somewhat and it slows the pace of the game down. Stockpiling enough food/water and planning routes between existing supply lines becomes another little challenge.

Still trying to figure out exactly how best to make use of local leader/supply lines. It seems like the workshop inventory is only shared in terms of the cost for crafting settlement items but also regular crafting? It seems like there has to be a way to really take advantage of this. You cant teleport items but feels like there should be some way to game it that is almost as good. I have water pumps at all the settlements to restock on purified water at the pumps if I have empty bottles. I try to dump all my extra aid items into the workshop. I guess you could always craft out of the workshop inventory at like a chem station and get chems that way.

Reminds me of this video...haven't watched him in ages so I guess I know what I'm doing later.

Funny I think the beginning of that sort of describes what happened to me. I actually thought I had never played this game despite having purchased it around 10 years ago when it came out. As I played through the main storyline with Shaun I started to realize I had at least played through a single main storyline but eventually quit not really liking some of the systems.
