It's sad that in this day and age, I could actually believe this. I know some people who are chronically online on discord. I've been in groups where people will not say anything for hours, then pop in just to say "Heading to the bathroom, be back in 20".

It depends on what you do but it takes a lot of experience to get good at it.

Because Mexico has cartels that regularly behead people they don't like. It's an outright failed state. There was a legit situation in Mexico where the state arrested El Chapo's son and the cartels started doing a mass revolt in response and the military couldn't handle it. And they just let him go to stop the chaos.
