Remember even the NCR strapped down the Power Armor gained by that war and using special heavy troopers using a non-training version of the 45d.
Which wasnt exactly a good idea or at least it wasnt at the state we see them in FNV. Idk why they dont bother using their regular Power armor without the (its not like the BOS has somehow a monopoly on it).
Even so, according to House the BoS is losing their war in the West against the NCR, and badly enough the NCR can spare Cassandra Moore and her multiple combat tours against the BoS to take over operations at the Dam.
People kind of forget that the NCR is mostly doing fine back home, its in the Mojave they are struggling thanks to a bunch of combined factors
I disagree, Nuka World has it's own proper main quest(ie the raider faction main quest) and the busy work with settlements is only there at the late stages of it. Not only are the rewards better, actually giving you a reason to set up raider camps, but you also get the opportunity to finally put the useless niggercattle farmers you would normally be doing bitch work for under your boot and heel. I modded the game so that every single settlement can be raided, that includes The Castle, and I took over the entire world map. This includes dozens of modded in settlements all over the game world, it was so satisfying to have every inch of the game map under my strict control. If you want to go further, there is a mod that lets you blow up all major faction HQs(that includes destroying Diamond City for a complete anarchistic playthru), it plays really well with a raider playthru.
But how can you survive Preston's finger wagging ?
"I know you pillaged, raped and murdered countless innocents and you went against everything the Minutemen stand for but you are still The General so Im just going to let you know in the most boringly monotone voice possible that Im disappointed and I hope you return to the light side or something."
I recall I read a youtube comment that said "if this was FNV, Preston've immediately opened fire on you once he learned what you did. Not here tho."
Its actually shocking how much of a bitch Preston is, to the point he seems to almost disturbingly refuse to remove the title of General off you.
Jon Gentry (Preston's VA) was a nobody before and he clearly went back to being a nobody outside of movie shorts. He had practically no VA experience and he is hardly a hidden talent that Todd brought to the public. It legit makes me wonder why they hired him because Preston is argurably the most important companion in terms of the main narrative because every other one can be entirely ignored outside of Nick and Piper (and they cease to be relevant after a certain point) but he is the only one where it becomes a necessity to interact with him if you want to do anything Minuteman related at all.
So it begs the question why Bethesda think that giving this bored monotone voice was the way to go. He not only needed a better voice but better written dialogue because becoming his buddy just has him sharing very genetic backstory elements like "I wanted to do good but it all went wrong and I briefly considered killing myself" and he still shares this in his monotone voice so it ruins any emotions that could come from this.
Its implied that he gave you the position of General (some fucking nobody that saved him and his group) because he doesnt trust himself with it and its infuriating how he doesnt change even if you get 100% affinity, he is a coward that makes you wonder how he lasted this long outside of being an essential NPC
If there is something yours truly hates, is wasted creative potential as Im sure we could have forgiven some stuff on the basis he is an engaging character.
Question for New Vegas veterans: do you think Legate Lanius is overpowered?
I finished NV when it came out (or shortly after), so I can't remember what version I was playing. Maybe they nerfed him later, I dunno. I played on very hard + hardcore. My character had all the best armor, guns etc. I completed pretty much every quest I could find. I had Boone with me.
That mofo was almost impossible to beat. I remember putting multiple mines in front of him and detonating them, using all kinds of buffs and he would still just run up to me like nothing happened.
I heard that melee/unarmed builds were OP and people who used them didn't have issues with that boss. I didn't use the Gobi rifle because I wasn't aware of its critting potential.
Can someone give me some specifics about this fight? It's been bugging me for years!
Not really. Besides, NV didnt want to fall into the trap F3 fell by having practically no "final boss" and even then, the Legate battle is just "ok" to me as there isnt much variation beside hitting/shooting him until he dies as he rarely changes strategy. He has two nobodies you should be able to easily dispatch, even more with two companions by your side.
If you did everything, DLC included, you def. should be an OP mf yourself so the Legate shouldnt be that hard.
Ironically I think General Oliver had a better basis for a final boss because the dude itself is weak as fuk but the location he is and the allies he has should have made some something more challenging as you can get surrounded and flanked.
Please remember that the Legate will always chase you with his melee weapon while General Oliver and his men are armed to the teeth, as long you keep a distance with the former, he is stupidly easy even.
