My question is in general, why do normies like the Fallout TV show when it's got extreme levels of retcon and uses shit borderlands tier humor.
Because for most normies Fallout 4 is their only exposure to the series, so it fits right in with what they think Fallout is supposed to be. That and people who watch Amazon shows have a subterranean bar when it comes to what counts as passable.

So long as the show isn't actively shitting in the viewers mouth they'll ask for seconds. Look at garbage like The Boys.

We are now selling Brahmin armor, fuck you.
saar pls understan cows are sacred and must be protected saar.
Emil Pagliarulo meanwhile is probably crying somewhere that NCR content is being officially co-signed by bethesda and added to his empty soulless masterpiece.
he'll get his revenge on FO5, if he doesn't die by then.
Well, in NV onwards. In 1 they are clearly a stand-in for the Albertian Order of Leibowitz, where they preserve technology and the methods of production until the time comes that they can actually make it again. 2 still has them as goodies, albeit shadier ones.
nah, replay FO2(or watch a video) and see it, they play the BoS as these might saviors of the wasteland, NV at least poke at the stagnation trope while 3 makes them a bunch of lazy fucks.

Not even starfield as the actual Bethesda answer to borderlands was rage 2
The actual 20 year plan is Fallout: Apocalypse Row

if anyone else did that they would be on the permanent shit list of every company in the business, dunno why that douchebag gets a pass
Member of the Tribe.

"Vault-Tec worked with the government to use the vaults for testing rather than survival" (Which was a retarded premise for a multitude of reasons when you think about it for more than 10 seconds, but there we go)

Yeah, completely retarded (there's nothing in Fallout 1 supporting this) and for once it's all the fault of Tim Cain. Sure, Tim, the fucking talking raccoons were too much but the idiotic space experiments for the vaults weren't.

The fucking problems of tone in F2, man.

they play the BoS as these might saviors of the wasteland,

Isn't the BO in 2 limited to secondary character and flat-out admitting they can't compete with the Enclave because in some way the development of the NCR and others has left them behind? And they're forced to work in the shadows because the Enclave has real warfare material between power armour, Vertibirds and a non pseudo-feudal organization?

>re-install Fallout 3
>start a new game

3 fence sits hard with the BOS as they both wanna help the wastelanders at the capital but also wanna not interfere that much with wastelanders. At least in new vegas you can make them start to play nice with the NCR and get them to help out with patrolling some territory.

Hell even 76 does the BOS better as they actively try to help out the wastelanders around them while also teaching them about dangerous technology and why they should hand in any they find.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but in FO2 the BOS are a spent force that time has left behind, with a few bunkers scattered about, a weakening monopoly on power armor, but nearly completely superseded by the NCR.

Unlike in FO1, where their help was crucial in stopping the Master's super mutant armies, by the time FO2 rolls around they are powerless against the Enclave.

Mind you, I despise Todd being such a cocksucking manchild and glazing them as hard as he does, since he completely misses the point of the BOS and reinterprets what was meant to be a lame Monty Python cameo as the true nature of the BOS. They're not knights of the Wasteland protecting the weak, they're a xenophobic, insular collective of tech hoarders whose mission statement is way out of date.

In FO1 they very deliberately send you out to die when you first approach them, and only really commit to the fight against the Master after you convince them that hiding in their bunker will just mean they'll be the last ones he comes after.

Hours into my current Dead Money play I find I can't complete it 100 percent because a Caravan card didn't spawn in. So fucking mad rn. Why couldn't these lazy faggots have done their jobs? How hard is it to ensure the collectibles in your one-time-per-save DLC actually spawn in where they're supposed to?

It wouldn't be so bad if I could go back to the Mojave, check which cards I don't have in that terrible interface just in case I collected them and don't remember (I didn't) and go back. There's no reason, either from a gameplay or thematic standpoint,, to prevent the player from returning. That's just the developers being spiteful cunts for no reason.

console commands are your friend

I never understood why you can't go back either when you have to leave and go back to the Mojave on foot in the first place.

Monty Python cameo
They're literally not, as I've said, they're very explicitly calling on the Albertian Order of Leibowitz from Canticle. They're supposed to be elitists keeping things intact for the day that they can bring it back for real.

Except they're shown to have lost their way, just hoarding technology for the sake of hoarding it, which comes to bite them in the ass by FO2 as their technological dominance becomes largely irrelevant with the existence of the NCR.

And what I meant is that Bethesda took the "knights of the Wasteland" parody encounter and warped the BOS into a serious rendition of that, removing all nuance and moral complexity from the BOS.

Even though it's a single player game, I don't like using the console, and I resent having to use it to unfuck the developers' mistakes. I'm over it now that I've had a little while, anyway. I'll just never try to 100 percent this DLC ever again. At least the vending machine codes are useful. There's plenty of 6s, 8s, 10s and Kings in the Mojave (the fact it was the 10 of Hearts that didn't spawn is salt in the wound, as I have been unlucky finding 10s in this save).

On a brighter note, the sloshing sound when you pick up filled bottles (e.g. Sunset Sarsaparilla, Nuka-Cola) is so satisfying. One of the little things I always appreciate in this game no matter how many times I play.

What killed Fallout 2 for me was being a tribal who talked like an enlightened atheist redditor for some reason.
The PC only gets uppity after while into the story, after presumably weeks of being condescended to by civilized people. They're the descendant of vault dwellers and no one from the Arroyo tribe has any indication of being stupid or primitive beyond tech level.

you can call your shaman a superstitious lunatic speaking vague gobbledygook
not that specifically but very much on the lines

that's why i called them lazy.
and the funny thing is that the followers of apocalypse would be suited best to do what they wanted to do without the billion hoops for you to go through and help the wasteland if you wish so, however i don't even remember them outside a few mentions and the thing with liam neeson and that bitch doctor, they are such a nonfaction for what they do, you'd think they'd be pretty much enslaved or have certain alliances all things considered but fallout is just that retarded because it forgets shit constantly.

FO2 is by obsidian, FO3 hardly develops them even with broken steel because they still treat you as the intern even after you destroy the mobile base and in FO4 glazes the faction you align yourself with because they draw from the "super duper master" thing from TES, the only faction you can say it gives you a slight bit of shit is the railroad.

F2 made me play the first 2 hours of a turn based RPG with clunkily implemented mechanics that were already outdated for 1998 with no gun.
"here's your spear"
FUCK YOU

I can play f1 repeatedly but I played f2 once to the end and it was such a bad experience I will not be going back
