Fallout series

Totally going off on a tangent here, but I wanted peoples’ opinions on this...

Fallout 2 introduced the Enclave as the major antagonist of the series, with the majority of successor games involving them in some way. The thing I find odd is this: did the Enclave ever call themselves the Enclave?

As far as I can tell, in Fallout 2 the various Enclave characters and talking heads never refer to themselves as “the Enclave” or “Enclave personnel” or whatever; they mostly reference themselves with federal titles and departments (the United States Chemical Corps was the department that worked on the modified FEV for example). President Richardson simply refers to himself as the president of the United States. Arch Dornan (the talking head at Navarro) just called the base “federal property”. In fact, the only place I can see Enclave items referring to themselves as “Enclave” is in one of the terminals referring to the Oil Rig as “Control Station: ENCLAVE”. Other than that (and the random encounter troopers’ names as “Enclave Soldiers”) I don’t recall any strict references to themselves as “Enclave” this or that. I always assumed that the remnant US forces simply saw themselves as such, and that Enclave was simply the term for one of many of their installations.

The reason I bring this up is that, in successor games (especially 3) they refer MUCH more heavily to themselves as “the Enclave”. Half of Eden’s radio casts in 3 mention Enclave, and far fewer refer to the United States directly (Though there are lots of oblique references). I just find it odd. To me, Enclave has a strictly west coast relevance. To see such overwhelming references in 3 and other games to me seems out of place.

What do you think?

Thanks a lot for activating my autism and causing me to go rooting through various parts of the internet looking for lore.

Yes, there were a few instances of Enclave personnel referring to themselves as The Enclave. For instance, the Enclave Partolmen outside of Navarro refer to themselves as such.

Someone else compiled a handy list of dialog snippets wherein various characters, including a computer, refer to them as The Enclave, which can be found here.

It takes place before the Enclave's destruction, so that actually makes more sense than the FO3 Enclave.
With the Greenbrier having such a prominent place in all the hype, I'd say the Enclave showing up in some form is a foregone conclusion.

I heard rumours Bethesda is yet again bring bac the Enclave in '76 and knowing Bethesda i would be surprised
Tbf it makes sense for the enclave to have some presence of any kind so close to the former capital so soon after the war.

Saying that there were scouting drones or some such out there to collect info on the land and people around the capital so that they would know when DC was safe to return to actually makes some sense.

Fallout 76 is allegedly so buggy and unstable Bethesda had to write an apology letter in advance.

Of course it is, it's a fucking Bethesda game. This is like rain apologizing for being wet.
Thing is, they shouldn't HAVE to apologize. Why? Because they should have learned from their last half dozen game releases that they really need to do more testing to root out and fix all those fucking bugs and actually fixed the fucking bugs! No bugs, no need for apology. But Bethesda is Bethesda and they've proven time and again they're incapable of learning.
Lazy pieces of shit.

I think you are all missing the best part about this. In the past, these bugs could have been fixed by modding the game. However, now that this is online only, mods don't exist. Meaning Bethesda, for once in their life is actually going to have to fix bugs by themselves. Fucking lol.

Anyone who buys this game is a fucking mongoloid.

Bethesda said it would have mod support, but really how the fuck is that gonna work? Make every player have the exact same mods on a server? Limit mods to customized skins that can be quickly downloaded via the server?
How will they keep someone from just modding in God Mode, infinite ammo or otherwise using it to cheat?
I don't see how people can keep denying that this is a Fallout flavored Rust clone.

It kinda does since the Enclave was actually a secret cabal of wealthy individuals that were pulling the strings of the US Government so it's likely they would have more than a single installation, but... how the fuck is that even going to work? They've already stated that every human in the game will be a player. It'll probably be the most hollow sort of bullshit. "Oh look, an Enclave bunker that for some reason is completely abandoned but with a bunch of shit left in it!"
They'll either insist that the Enclave decided to bug out for the west coast leaving a fuckload of tech around for people they despise as mutants to find and take advantage of which makes them look incompetent, or else somehow every last Enclave member died which makes them look even more fucking incompetent and removes any menace they once had, or that this chapter of the Enclave were the Enclave in Fallout 3 which would conflict with the lore of New Vegas which actually forced the nonsenseical lore of FO3 to make a lot more sense than Bethesda ever could. In New Vegas it's pretty much established that the Enclave in FO3 were the remnants of a single detachment of Enclave soldiers who went east after receiving a message from the "President".

I want Bethesda to die and no one to remember it fondly.
Honestly, I used to love Bethesda's games like Daggerfall and Morrowind. Now I just want them to go the fuck away and stop ruining the work of better men than themselves.

Fallout New California has gone into open beta finally: https://www.moddb.com/mods/falloutprojectbrazil/news/fallout-new-california-beta-200-released

Still a ways off from a perfect bug-free 1.0 release, so there's a couple of low fps trouble areas in the game world, but you can play all the quests to the end and explore the whole map, so it's almost as good as a full release.

I think I will still wait for the 1.0 before I install, just to avoid the trouble of future patching possibly destroying any old saves

it's set in between 2 and 3/FNV in terms of chronology. the playable map area is restricted to a portion of southern California that is about 2/3 the size of the FNV map area
