Fallout: The Frontier - Done, and it's a hilarious shitshow

The Exiled NCR are a courier worshipping cult, which would at least be an interesting idea if any of it was intentional.
Autism thought up and started by a guy better known by programming and then finished by a bunch of "disciples of kojima" that pivoted hard into tranny communism?
See, an NCR cult (of personality) forming around the Courier for their deeds would be a lovely fit for Kojima-style writing. But they fucked that up too.
 
I never claimed they were original. Hell, they even stole that Tenpenny Tower ghoul quest, "twist" ending and all.
Actually I kinda like the majority of the side quests I've come across so far. The writing is actually generally good to even excellent in one or two. They must have been written by a different team because main the main campaigns are a mess.

Yeah. Iirc the side quests (particularly that slave town one) was some of the first written content for the mod, and it shows. Honestly if you were to remove all the Mojave factions, I think the mod would have been a lot better. Just a new area to explore and either help it become better, or more shitty. But nooooo, we need to hammer in the NCR and Legion being here because reasons.
 
The mod started out focused and structured as the side quests show but as it expanded in scope it became extremely bloated and unfocused. There is no way to fix this problems without reducing the size of the mod and there is no way that the Frontier team will cut down stuff from the mod

The problem is that this resembles more a F3 DLC than NV's

The former's mods dont really tie together with the events at TCW while NV's does one way or the other. They really wanted to replicate the NV style of DLCs because they would neeeever want to resemble that pesky F3 in any way shape or fooorm.

So The Legion and NCR had to be forced into this unnaturally.

something thats more and more funnier by the day i keep seeing is that some people flinch at sneed or enclave autism more and more to the point where they un-ironically believe their detractors would support muh fascism or the enclave
and not just some bored autist riling them up on purpose because its literally rent free

This makes sense actually, many of the devs were massivley shittalking New Vegas in the weeks leading up to release and most of the lead devs are on record saying they prefer 3. They used New Vegas because that's the game everyone makes big mods for and the engine is less of a mess.

The NCR campaign was made almost entirely by one guy who had a stranglehold over it because he could do all the crazy coding shit they wanted. Originally there wasn't even going to be a Legion or Brotherhood route but they got added when other, less retarded, people joined the team.

Like a lot of The Frontier it's not too terrible in theory. The Legion don't really have any reason to be there but a rogue faction of NCR soldiers breaking off and going to do their own thing? That's believable. The smart move would have been to make it a Heart of Darkness style scenario and have General Blackthorn be the major villain using his NCR training to rally the locals to create his own little slice of post-apocalyptic heaven. The NCR could have hired an outsider (like The Courier) to go deal in and deal with him 'unofficially', but that's getting into my own autistic ideas for a rewrite and I won't bore everyone with it.

What really doesn't make sense is the amount of fucking firepower these factions have while the main factions back in the Mojave are axing each other with pointy sticks and 20 rounds of rifle ammo. All this retarded firepower fucks with the world they built as well, an isolated, snowy, hellhole doesn't feel anywhere near as dangerous or somber as it should when there's hundreds of soldiers duking it out with tanks and laser beams.

Yes. Off the top of my head the only mod authours who comes to mind is Thuggysmurf. They were unfortunately one of the few people making FO4 quest mods that overhauled the main plot. What this meant however was inserting so many head canon things that it was laughable. Big things that come to mind include: Being able to turn the Institute into a modern day night club, Sarah Lyons still being alive and running a resistance with her kid she had from the Lone Wanderer, a character that is just a 1:1 Harley Quinn ripoff, and Preston Garvey being an Enclave spy. The funny thing is they tried to insist that all their mods were lore friendly, and that all the retarded shit was "optional" therefore justifying it's existence.
They also made a mod where they felt the answer to that game giving you hardly any options to be evil, was to add options to make anyone your sex slave and other torture porn shit.
Thankfully they were one of the authours who left nexus during the great sperg out when mod collections were announced (which in hindsight is even funnier considering most of what they feared turned out to not happen).

I actually kinda liked most of them despite the lore being eye rolling. The Brotherhood of Gears was decent radiant quests for easy money and Sam Cruel had some laugh out loud dialogue.

So it's been a whole year since Fallout New Vegas: The Frontier.

Anyone want to share their experiences? I know I will.

I remember seeing the release trailer and thinking it looks great, however though, this was back when I had a Reddit account (Yes, I did have a Reddit account), and one of the communities I joined was the Fallout one. I saw that The Frontier was being wrecked and mocked and sneeded on the sub, so I made a post asking the sub how bad New Vegas: The Frontier was.
Once the first reply came, I was just dumbfounded and baffled. You know your mod is BAD, when even Reddit was taking the mick out of you. Once word got out of what happened behind the scenes and how nuts the developers were, I swore an oath never to play that damned mod.

Fun Fact, some creators on the Fallout New Vegas Nexus are so schizo that they think r/falloutmods full of secret 4channers and other bad-thinkers

Yeah him. Like yeah, if you take the lore breaking and horny stuff aside, they were competent mods. Maybe even good. But holy shit was he insufferable. He legit banned my main nexus account from viewing or downloading his mods simply because I said him being hostile to people who disagree with him was driving people away. And considering he has now left Nexus to make some other mod site that is bound to fail, I doubt I can ever get unbanned even if I wanted to.
 
I got hyped for the Frontier because of the care and attention to detail put into this one side-quest...only to discover it wasn't even in the game without being beyond broken optional content.


If the rest of the mod were like this, I don't think anyone would be complaining honestly.

Actually slave harbor is now completely fixed/finished and avaliable on the Frontier's Nexus page as an optional download.

This initially led me to believe the post Zulu/TGspy team might actually pull off the NCR rework but then they started sperging about troons and other wokeshit because they're deranged NPCs that can't help themselves.

Actually with the slave harbor add on and the TGspy cut which strips out a large portion of the beginning of the NCR campaign and the worst of the space station the mod is honesty ok. In terms of official content I'd say it's better than Mothership Zeta, Honest Hearts, and every Fallout 4 DLC except Far Harbor.
