No, the Megatron pistol was an original Japanese re-issue of the true configuration - specifically, the only version that had a mechanism for firing little silver plastic pellets.

The fact he wants MASTERPIECE Megatron is hillarious for three reasons:

1. MP Megaton does NOT have a firing mechanism. In fact, due to toy safety laws, it's probably a version with a legally mandated orange safety plug glued in the gun barrel.

2. MP Megatron is infamous for "Cosmic Rust" - you don't keep him clean, he tarnishes super fast like a motherfucker.

3. MP Megatron is by far one of THE most delicate transformers ever made by virtue of his poorly designed waist transformation. If Chris gets one, he WILL break it by being too rough.

Since we all know he wants Megatron to be a gun replacement, the fact the toy is a high-maintenance collector's affair that will never pass for a real gun due to the orange (unremovable) plug and will break the second his ham-hands tries to transform him, this is just asking for rage on his part.

I'm pretty sure The only MP Megatrons that exist are Takara imports, which somehow lets them get around the cap thing because robot... Somehow.

Now, the UNOFFIAL Remakes, on the other hand, all have those caps, some aren't glued though. There's also the official legends size one that's built to fit in the MP figure's hands, that one has the cap painted on!

Hilariously all of these are ridiculously oversized compared to the original Megatron pistol. And more pricey too!
