I don't think that's what the typical brony wants. Some seem to crave whatever attention comes along with being on the Hipster spectrum and vocally liking something different/unintended for them (source: the smug reaction of bronies in voice actress panel videos whenever the fanbase is mentioned).

I suspect many genuinely love the show though. Again, it's "above average".

The only reason he hates it is because every time Chris tries to conform to something he gets rejected.
 
Apparently she's from China and plays the cello and erhu. Also she's in a metal band, which is pretty awesome. Kind of reminds me of Chthonic or Tengger Cavalry using traditional folk instruments, but unless she's also transgender I fail to see why Chris would like her or be interested

Edit: Never mind, apparently she did something for MLP. I guess that's something else for Chris to bitch about
 
Thanks, Mogambo! Googling "Tina Guo" and "My Little Pony" brought me this, which didn't turn up in the first several pages of Google results.

Why would Chris not like this? It looks like a neat episode, once you get past the absurdity of ponies playing instruments.

I don't think she's trans; she was a child prodigy under the name Tina.

The Brony fandom are trying so hard to tell the haters that's not what the fandom's about, yet R34, MLP fan art sites, and Deviantarts would like to say otherwise. True that all other fandom do the same, but at least they keep it to themselves, not make it mainstream, and make money off of it.

I remember I saw an impassioned comment on reddit a year or two ago from a Brony that had a ton of upvotes. He described how misunderstood the show and it's fans are, as well as why the show totally had value to an adult audience. It was very persuasively written and changed my mind about Bronies.

I even felt open minded enough to watch the first episode of the latest series... it's totally just a show for little girls.
