I actually feel bad for Chris, because he's not going to understand that first week of sales was only because he had never done commissions in over 10 years. He'll think that people are sabotaging his business, not that the demand was a very short lived ordeal destined to fade quickly. He's simply not smart enough to comprehend those economics.

On the other hand, I don't know what the fuck an economist would say about a market that pays irrational prices for garbage (sorry) and also joyously spectates the downfall of the seller. Chris wouldn't be the only one confused by this.

Intelligence by itself really has very little to do with it. It's mostly hubris. Chris wants to believe that free lego moneys forever are Basically Promised, and so that is what he chooses to believe. And when that doesn't actually happen, the only explanation must be that it's the fault of trolls and bullies. The only other possibility is that Chris was wrong, and that's just plain inconceivable.

Yes. He was told for years Sonichu wasn't worth money and then he sold 36 hand drawn pictures in a week. That confirmed his desires and now he's going to be left really confused and sad when the market dries up because he does not understand, and likely is incapable of understanding, this case of supply and demand.


Also I still don't understand what people are pissed over. It seems extremely probable to me that Chris was waiting for his tugboat to pay for postage. He's not fucking secretly rich, his money ebbs and flows quicker than the tide. He lives off government income and his mother appears to becoming more dependent on him before, probably due to her own crippling debt.

It's like everyone here is living under some delusion that Chris is more than just a fat dumpy sperg trying to sell his "cawmics" to meet ends meet. The dude lost his house, he lives with his mom, she's a nightmarish beast of a woman, her health is declining, and he's having to deal with all that shit on a few hundred dollars a month. People get all up in a tizzy because he buys toys, but he literally has nothing else to occupy his time. Chris' entire life is spent waiting for the next benefit check to come in so he can continue to exist until another one does.

Why are people angry over this? If anything, it warrants pity. Chris doing what people told him to do for years to earn extra income is cute and uncharacteristically productive, like Eric Cartman running a bake sale. There's absolutely no fucking reason to be so upset and pessimistic, and I'm getting the idea that people are only getting riled up because they're literally jealous that he's able to make money off Sonichu now.

Everyone needs to take a chill pill. I've been making posts regarding the Update forum specifically because of this shit. These threads are increasingly and embarrassingly ravenous, and a whole fuckton of people appear to have forgotten that Chris is a pants shitting retard that will die alone. Get over yourselves.

But he was also warned that those sales were unsustainable, both on facebook and also when he reads the forums here. He CHOOSES to treat those warnings as "trolling and bullying". That is nobody's fault but his own.

While I agree with you that there's a large element of weenery to a lot of the people buying crap from Chris (assuming that's what you're getting at), because of course he was going to misinterpret it in the most impossibly Chris favorable way (infinite lego moneys forever), again he's only falling for the weenery because of his hubris more than stupidity. And weens are always going to ween; getting angry at them is about as useless as getting angry with Chris.

The people who bought stuff from Chris in some vain attempt to help him are almost worse than the weens (but still not in a way to make anyone angry), because they are intentionally enabling him. I say enabling because it's impossible to actually help Chris. At best you only buy him more legos he doesn't need. Now I'm not going to tell people not to try; who am I to tell someone what damn fool thing to do with their own money? I'm just saying that they shouldn't be at all surprised when their help accomplishes exactly nothing. If you will recall I made the same argument about the post-fire care package.

I don't think anyone is saying Chris is secretly rich. But a lot of people are saying that he would be a hell of a lot better off of only he would stop pissing away money on legos and other crap he doesn't need. And the same goes for Barb. And the same also goes for their "crippling debt" which they entirely voluntarily brought down on themselves so that they could purchase even more crap they don't need.

They put themselves into their financial predicament, and they exhibit absolutely no indications of doing anything to get themselves out of it.

If it weren't completely self inflicted in the face of countless good advice against, then maybe. Yes, Chris couldn't choose his parents, but there comes a point in everyone's life where they have to accept at least a little self accountability for their own actions. Chris doesn't. Hell, for all that he didn't choose to be Bob's son, he could have at least chosen to listen to him on occasion about things like paying off credit card debts.

Wait… What? There's absolutely every reason to be pessimistic. It's Chris. Yes, past performance is no indicator blah blah, but just look at his past performance.

As to being jealous of him making money off Sonichu: seriously? I get the strong impression a lot of people here actually want to see him expand his current merchandise line before sales dwindle into nothing. If anything they are frustrated with the way Chris keeps trying the same old offerings in the face of dwindling sales, blaming "trolls and bullies" for his diminishing returns. There have been a number of continuing suggestions about trying to convince him to start a patreon or sell pay per view videos etc. or get some other form of low overhead income-for-content revenue stream going before autograph sales completely dry up. That doesn't sound like jealousy to me.

The plain fact is that Chris is incredibly, unbelievably irresponsible with money. Even though he's below average intelligence, that's still entirely his own fault; other people who are far less intelligent than Chris still somehow manage to buy food before legos. And you know what? So be it. If he wants to waste his food money on legos, well that's entirely up to him. But when he ends up hungry and starts blaming the internets for it, calling people "trolls and bullies" because they don't feel like spending any more of their own money to buy him food (with a healthy helping of additional legos thrown in), is it any wonder some people get a little incensed?
