It's getting closer to July. Can we have a July 28th Hearing Speculation Thread?
@The American Hedgehog ?
Things to watch for the upcoming hearing, based on the limitation in data we can get from J&DR court:
1. No further continuances, docket is closed. This means Chris has been released. Either he was convicted and released on time served, or charges have been dropped. Court fees may show up in the payment system if he has been convicted, and they will show what he was convicted for.
2. If the charges are dropped, Chris may still receive civil commitment. If he disappears off the face of the earth, despite the court case being over, this is probably what happened.
3. There is another 6 month continuance. This means that Chris is still incompetent to stand trial and will be in the state hospital another 6 months. It also means that he is sitting on a felony charge (either the incest charge or something worse) and just hasn't been indicted for some reason and the defense is not pushing the issue. It doesn't mean he will be convicted on a felony, just that he's sitting on the charge.
4. There is a continuance but it is for the near future rather than six months -- this means Chris' case is resolving or advancing soon. He will either be released in the meantime, or just voluntarily be returned to jail for a little bit if he has no place else to go.
5. There are no continuances but shortly after, Chris' case shows up in public searches for circuit court. This means that Chris is now going to court for felony charges. This doesn't mean he'll be convicted of a felony, since the charges can still be lowered, but it means a felony conviction is definitely on the table. He can still go back to the mental hospital, in which case we would see a six month continuance, only this time it will be easier to keep track of since it is in circuit court and the docket would be visible online.
