[February 2021 - ????] DSP Tries It: Divinity: Original Sin II

Astounding.

I figured he'd have another stream at least.

the entire stream was basically the "swamp/marsh land" between fort joy and the next town

i'm expecting something to laugh at when he fights the dragon boss, he logged out right next to the cave, he'll probably bitch out and go on some rant about beginner's traps

Radeka is going to require some serious positivity from the chat to get through.
I'm guessing he's going to skip the Radeka fight, same with the voidwoken near the piggies. Alexander isn't that hard, since the giant worm might as well be a team member with how little attention he pays to your party. And I honestly don't expect him to get through the Lady Vengeance encounter without lowering the difficulty or it taking 1h+.

I hope he makes it through, because chapter 2 is filled with gems :

the dwarven ambush
"I lost my ring in the water"
bridge troll
oil field blob encounter
Alice Alisceon
Mordus
the djinn

and many many more :story:

I just started the game and I can instantly see how Phil flounders because as someone who's played very few/casual RPGs the game really does expect you to know what you're doing it seems like.

I'm going to fumble my way through Fort Joy blind then compare my play time to Phil's just for giggles.

Dumb question for nerds: all the new player stuff recommends 'Mages' but Mage isnt a class. Does that just mean any kind of caster or is it something specific.

Mage is generally just using elemental magic. If you’re brand new to the game I recommend getting summoner to 10 ASAP and then branching out after that to whatever you want. Summoner / Hydrosophist is a good combo, for instance.

He had a very impressive start to today's Divinity stream. He starts off by complaining that people give him bad advice that doesn't work. Then he spends 20 minutes walking around an empty cave looking for a chest that he was tipped off to in an e-mail. The chest was not in the cave. When he was ultimately led to the chest, he thought he couldn't open it because chat didn't tell him he has Source points in his inventory (you can absorb the Necromancer Soul Jars for Source. Only one matters aside from flavor.). 30 minutes of nothing.

ITS RE3 ALL OVER AGAIN!

im having a rough time in life right now so i've been missing the Divinity Streams, but looks like Phil was sent to rescue the paladin Gareth, and due to his fat fingers kept hitting Gareth with AoE abilities to the point Gareth turned hostile, phil is now complaining it's clearly a game bug while Gareth beats his ass in.

Edit: Phil fled the Gareth fight. Gareth returned to the allied base by himself. Phil tries talking to him, Gareth pretty much tells Phil to fuck off and refuses to talk to him unless Phil gives him a gift as a peace offering. Phil is confused by this and proceeds to bribe Gareth. All is good now. Everyone is happy. I got five hours of sleep last night.

Saw this was on sale and debated picking it up but that ~100 hour length is intimidating.

If only my job was playing video games then I would have absolutely no excuse not to finish said game. Icing on the cake would be if I was somehow paid to play the game in the first place. You'd have to be a real dick to quit a game under those conditions.

I heard Phil fought Radeka the witch, so I went back to the video to take a lil looksie. Radeka typically finishes the conversation by forcing a poison kiss on you. I was hoping to see this, but Phil actually managed to get through the dialogue tree without it happening. Which is unfortunate, considering his reaction to Radeka saying "I do love that in a man" was virgin rage "Oh my god, just fucking kill her."

phils tits are lookin' especially large in this gray shirt today.

phil is off to a great start and actually removes all of Radeka's physical armor and gets her down to 50% hp before she gets a single turn. this causes chat to question phil what difficulty the game is on. phil claims it's the difficulty chat told him to pick.

phil gets mad at stream chat to the point he opens the main menu and shows the difficulty on stream. It is indeed "classic mode"

he managed to kill Radeka with little issue, but is mad that her summons did not disappear with her death. He doesn't know about the status Soulbound, for you kids who ain't played the game, only enemies marked as Soulbound die when their Summoner dies.

phil asks the chat "ok so if a zombie is up next to attack, how do I tell which zombie it is from the turn bar?" that's a fair question. The chat tells him if he mouses over the enemy, the corresponding enemy icon will highlight. which leads to phil mumbling

"the enemy gets highlighted? but how do i? how? when does he get highlighted? i dont understand what you're saying."

someone then told him to just push R1, which auto rotates between enemies. which means essentially phil was too dumb to figure out how to target an enemy so someone just told him the button that does it for him.

as i am typing this my room mate just got up and walked into the living room calling for help because he was choking on his home made pizza. this was more interesting to watch than phils gameplay.

that's about it. he then clears up the insects and it's over. i won't lie to you, fat boy isn't necessarily playing -badly-. he's just playing really...really...fucking slowly. I don't foresee him having any issues with the game until the Lady Vengeance fight, honestly. also these divinity vids have been up for 6 hours and are all sub 200 views. his fans love it.

What's the longest (singleplayer) game Phil has ever played?

Strictly in real time start to end date length and not counting his dumbass Yakuza grinding.

I feel like this is easily shaping up to be the longest, he'll finish this in 2022 at least at this rate.

skyrim had like 890 parts back in the day.

how is it a waste? fane's fucking dead. the point of the scroll is to revive dead people? what the fuck.
Give him a pill and leave him somewhere.
Its literally been over a month and this fucking faliure still hasn't completed the first chapter.
Is it the "chill stream"?

Persona 5 469
Skyrim
Pt 1 200+ 186+ Dawnguard 41 + Dragonborn 25 = 452.
If he ever plays Baldur's Gate 2 that will be like 1000 parts.

Phil finished the Alexander/Void Worm fight. Aside from some bitching about not being able to attack who he wants when he wants, he killed Alexander, a major figure in the story, and followed that up with.

"Oh I got a trophy for killing him. I don't even know who that was. like I know he was the bishop, but I don't know who he is. i didn't get a cutscene or anything"

through out the entire tutorial people are talking about Alexander, he is essentially at this point in the game the primary antagonist.

Phil is ending the stream now, but immediately next stream will be The Lady Vengeance fight after he wanders around the ship a bit.
