God bless the Midwest, and I’m an atheist. Seriously not like that here thankfully. We had a few mask autists last time I was out about a year ago but for the most part it was just normal people, and no one got in your ass about not masking either.
 
I've not been watching much EVO live this year, but the salt that I've been seeing players with egos post is pretty funny.

Kinda funny how many people in the replies are like "nah man, don't let it get to you. You are the best." I'm sure this guy is good, he's a former EVO champ, but losing to your own character twice then being like "I'm the best" is great. Why did you lose then? Is your character so cheap that even randy scrubs who aren't as good as you can just take sets in the mirror?

I kept switching between Tekken 7, and KOFIV. SFV is so fucking boring to me, plus they had an annoying bitch on for the beginning of the commentating, so I checked out immediately. I waited for the CVS2 stream, and even that was fucking boring with the fact that everyone kept picking the same fucking characters. Super turbo stream was just FightCade 2 regulars playing each other and if I wanted to watch that, I'd just hang out on FightCade 2.

8moe /v/ had a dedicated EVO thread, but everyone checked out, so it was a fucking waste. Sleepychan's /v/ was just as dead minus one guy taking screenshots of the KOFIV event without context (KOFIV seemed to be heavily Mexican this year, including the commentator)

Those side games are still very questionable. I know CB will never see a tourney with how rare it is (and it did not age very well at all),.

No one should be surprised people are picking top-tier mains in 20+ year-old games. That's like complaining about DSP picking a top-tier character with p2w perks in a p2w Smash clone. Evo has been a joke for the past couple of years, and all of the games in the main event suck dick for lots of reasons.

... what the fuck are you talking about? How many 20+ year old tourney game streams have you actually watched? I've seen plenty, and they aren't monotonous as this CVS2 one was
  • Super Turbo - Every character gets picked, especially in Japan tourneys. Characters that are "low-tier" even win them
  • Karnov's Revenge - Everyone (except clown because for some reason he's considered really bad, but I think he's good) get's picked and that game is broken as fuck.
  • Breaker's Revenge - Only like one or two characters get ommitted, but otherwise it's similar to Karnov.
  • Alpha 3 - It's mostly V-ISM characters, but otherwise the choices are varied and not strictly the top-tier ones.
CVS2 and MVC2 are the only two old 2D games that seem to have this problem with only picking specific characters for the 3v3 when they have a really big roster (not sure about the old KOF games), and quite frankly, it's fucking boring.

Some of the Tekken Pools were lit as fuck. Knee vs Joey Fury and Chanel vs that lunatic that switched to Nina of all things and won in particular were great.

You're complaining about people picking top op characters in 20+ year-old games that aren't known for balance (MvC2, CvS2, and Alpha 3). FFS MvC2 is a shitty mugen game where only 6 were good and the rest were shit even if you found niche teams. MvC2 and CvS2 are overrated tier-whore games (thank the SoCal FGC for that). You're not going to see something like the top Servebot and Roll player in MvC2. Ever.

Kof xv is a good game in its own right from a gameplay standpoint but mirror match grand finals was dull. Nothing against the players, but Krohnen is so fucking lame that I almost miss Vanessa Terry and timbs Ralf.

As for the SNK side in general yeah people are getting hyped, it's funny that after years Samsho and to a lesser extent XV become playable next year of all times. Announcing MOTW being in the oven is cool, but I'm sure unless you live in SNK dominate countries it'll fade out just as quick as any snk game since it'll be up against SF6 and probably Project L at that time.

Yeah, it sucks how prevalent Krohnen is. He is really lame. It's not like his kit in general is a problem, he's just over tuned to shit. "I'd better not jump or hop ever, lest I take 80% of my hp off of a combo that is baby's first confirm". Outside of Kula, Krohnen, X high tier teams that every professional or "competitive" player uses, KoF XV is pretty great, IMO. Especially compared to every other modern fighting game that has been coming out. I hope the best for MOTW, but you're probably right. Street Fighter is the fighting game. Everyone and their mom knows what Street Fighter is. Going up against Street Fighter is no small feat.
