So someone decided to make a plugin (
Playerscope) that collates players via the Account ID system that was added in Dawntrail to assist in blacklisting.
Other plugins (Most notably
Retainer Track by Liza Carvelli) have been collecting this information for months, and nothing happened. In fact, the main database that Playerscope is built from uses Retainer Track's collated information.
To my knowledge, there were only around 5 people who knew of this project before it was
posted on reddit, the discord server now has over 1500 people in it.
The GCBTW continues to scaremonger about what this plugin can do because they're the GCBTW, making up claims that it can steal your banking information or IRL identity because someone decided to link it to an alleged discord groupchat leak where people said they wanted to rape female streamers of the game. (No, people are retarded and post a picture of their character beside a selfie of themselves.)
They believe that having to open a google drive link and type a certain code into their lodestone profile means that their accounts have been completely compromised, despite the fact that this is
literally the same as what you need to do to stop being tracked on FFLOGs. And if you give fflogs the devils' advocate in that it's literally just to compare damage between certain jobs, fflogs doesn't need to be opt-out in the first place.
Rate me MATI for this, I don't give a shit. Xenosys is a hack.
Because the plugin's server is currently whitelist-only, an anonymous person on github decided to make the Cockwatch Server. Unfortunately due to him spamming "NIGGER" over 100 times in the repo, it got taken down and his account appears to have been banned.
The official repository has also been taken down due to mass reporting, which led to Generall (the plugin's creator) uploading the repository to Gitea. This has also been taken down by mass reporting.
The XIVLauncher developers commented on this situation.
There are badly AI-written news articles about this garbage. This drama refuses to die.
