This is why most of the drama in this game is over discord. Unless you're a streamer, Square Enix will not ban you for being a straight up garbage human being outside the game.

I agree. But the reality of it is, these troons have plenty enablers on their discord servers who will treat you like shit and call you all the names. They will try to make an example out of you because that's the only amount of power they'll ever have in their lives. In a MMO based around social content, this becomes tiring very quickly. They'll resort to any sort of preschool tactics like passive aggressive tweeting, talking shit in your back, and trying to do gay ops against people they don't like.

Every major community for this game is either run by troons, or goes along with this bullshit. They usually have some nsfw channel or sister discord where the troons jerk each other off about how horny they are.

I still swear one of the most exceptional cases of such was a big FC a couple of years ago on Mateus got outed for being a "danger to the community" due to their habits of peer pressuring and "blackmailing" other players into joining and ERP'ing with their FC, and then harassing and "bullying" individuals if they didn't go along with their ERP shtick. Apparently a lot of people felt too "threatened" to either tell them to fuck off if they felt things were going too far or to step up and go "Hey, stop your bullshit," when they saw others in the FC pulling this shit. Never really understood why, quite frankly. It's a fucking online computer game. You're not gonna force me to interact with other players in a way that I'm not on board with and I'd sooner laugh in your delusional face if you think you could intimidate me into doing otherwise.

The funniest part of that to me was, the people running that Mateus "RP community" Discord I mentioned previously were the ones who gathered several people's testimonies and warned people away from that particular FC using all the information they had gathered. Then some "changes of hats" happened, certain admins and mods stepped down, new ones (particularly ones with ties to said FC) stepped up, and, about a week later, the entire new admin team was now defending said FC and telling their whole community to shut the fuck up about them, banning anyone who complained otherwise. Think I left that Discord shortly afterwards after finally deciding that Mateus was batshit fucking insane and I regretted transferring over to it.

I was not, but I've now looked into it a little bit after seeing this reply and just to summarize (so I can make sure I'm understanding this correctly, since a few leads end up being deleted posts or 404'd links):

• The Moogle Post/Eorzean HQ was some form of community driven newsletter (?) for the game that was rather popular.
• Several women, who chose to keep their identities anonymous, came out with a litany of screenshots and "receipts" showing that TMP's founder, OldBear, had been sexually harrasing and blackmailing them. (Still not sure how "blackmail" always seems to come into play unless a lot of them were dumb enough to send nudes/get coerced into ERP since a lot of these people really don't know how to put their foot down with that shit.)
• Huge community drama ensued. OldBear acted particularly exceptional with regards to a potential group split and tried to maintain his "seat of power" (so to speak) by way of attempting to manipulate key administrative figures to hand over the reins of TMP's social media presence to either himself or his close associates that were in league with him.
• Vague Twitter spergery was also involved in this process between all parties. (I'll be honest, I didn't bother looking into the details on that one. I'm assuming it was a lot of back-and-forth slapfighting and general PR fails for everyone involved, as is usually the case with this sort of thing.)
• Eventually the whole drama imploded on itself, most everyone split, and the whole thing is a dead issue at this point. (Unless there's some continuing developments still happening that I'm not aware of. I'd believe it either way.)
