I have japanese voices on but I'm tempted to switch it back. Only because me spending time to read the dialogue takes my eyes away from the actual cutscene when I could just watch and listen at the same time. Especially during duties. The text box is only around for a split second before it disappears and having to go back to read it is a pain. I've also memorized a bunch of fight mechanics via english voice lines so hearing japanese that I can't really understand throws me off.
I don't like the troon voice either but having japanese voices on is the bigger inconvenience for me.

There are plenty of voicelines in the few pre-dawntrail quests the character is on to make a decision.

Personally I don't super hate the voice, I think that funnily the troon voice kind of fits to voice a monstrous, muscle bound half-animal character, it gives it a sense of masculinity that a female voice might not be able to.

I suppose dead by daylight and whatever NA branch of SE is in charge of localization must share a voice director.

So after my well-deserved break, I returned to the game, intent on finishing that Eureka relic. It was cancer, but I finished the damn thing. I thank some genuinely fun randos I partied with for the last stretch, made the entire ordeal tolerable and last only a single weekend of no-life-ing bullshit. I now have a shiny White Mage staff to flaunt at sprouts.

Regarding the femHroth that was introduced with 6.55: I didn't even realize it was a literal troon playing her. Does this affect me? Can't say that it does. She's not the best character to be introduced, but she doesn't quite offend my delicate sensibilities, either. I'm sure she'll be recast when the VA joins the 42% so no big deal.

Regarding DT release in about a month: my idiot ass resubbed and bought the expansion. I'll admit: they got me with the Ark mount and teasing so much FF9 related content. I'm a faggot for FF9, it's the best one. So I'm curious. And I still have fun playing when I do, so why not dive back in? Not like gaming has spat out much better in recent months.

I am at a pretty good point for pre-DT. My jobs are at 660, Viper and Picto are prepped, and a good chunk of my nongil currencies are capped. Just going to take it easy and get the rest of them up and get ventures piled up.

I've no intention on getting every job to 90 since I don't play them nor do I have the time to do so. But my main jobs are at or near 660. I am working on Monk though, since the redesign looks pretty interesting and they finally gave us hadoukens.

Regarding DT release in about a month: my idiot ass resubbed and bought the expansion. I'll admit: they got me with the Ark mount and teasing so much FF9 related content. I'm a faggot for FF9, it's the best one. So I'm curious. And I still have fun playing when I do, so why not dive back in? Not like gaming has spat out much better in recent months.

Don't feel bad, I copped it too since Ark is so dope even if it is technically just a reskin of the Cruise Chaser mount.

I restarted up the grind for my ARR WHM relic and....god fucking damn, it's is still a steaming pile of AIDS now as it was back then and I don't even mean the light farming part or the atma farming part. The books....THE FUCKING BOOKS. Waiting for fates and that stupid fucking part where you have to craft materials for other mats that can only be desynthed from 1 specific item in the game. Holy shit, I hate this.

-Don't wait for fates but rather port to the map, if it's not up then jump to the other two locations, if you didn't find any do one of the shitty dungeons. Odds are you will hardly be locked unless it's shit like the Surprise! fate which fails in under 30 seconds.
As a last ditch effort if one of them is absolutely refusing to pop start server and data center hopping, odds are you'll find one active in under 5 hops.

-The desynth shit is a trap and you should buy already crafted items (just not on your home server as they are priced horribly, I would know), odds are you're going to spend about the same amount of gil while wasting time you could be spending in theraphy.

Can say, I'm fond of FF9 as well. I am going to be holding off on getting DT for a while; I want to wait and see the actual reviews and reactions of the expansion first, admittedly, as some of the story previews... didn't impress me. That said, the gameplay does look interesting, and I do hope this expansion turns out to be good.

Yeah, there's a few FATEs which fail immediately, which is fucking annoying. You can also server hop if you want to be uber efficient.

The ARR relics are the absolute worst. If it was able to have multiple books at a time it wouldn't be so bad, but good grief.

I actually thought the books weren't all that bad. It's a bit tedious but I did them as a second monitor task. I think I'm pretty patient waiting for FATEs but having to run back and forth across the entire world to kill some shitty low level mobs is a huge waste of time. I still argue that Resistance Weapons are the worst. All of the efficient options to farming materials don't work because it's dead content. Some of the early stages are slow but steady sure, but it is a lot of FATE grinding, a lot of raid grinding, and either suffer an eternity of PotD/HoH or pray for random DR groups. At least with zodiac you can afk and do something else waiting for a spawn. Once you're done with books all you do is spam Thousand Maws unsynced until you get your weapon.

I just spammed the shit out of Ifrit Normal since that goes down in seconds and 6x Ifrit is the same amount as one Tam-Tam Deepcroft run which takes like 4~5 minutes of walking. Repetitive but in my honest opinion goes just a bit faster.

Yeah the books and the desynth part is still the elements I hated the most when I did them too. Dungeons and overworld mobs I could still live with but it's both FATES and leves I despise with a passion. Waiting around for a specific FATE to pop (and praying that it isn't a quick 'get involved ASAP or you fail it' one. Bonus points if it's a follow-up FATE to another one you have to complete) but I guess that with the Yokai event going on you might have some convenient quick assistance with those.

Also tedious shit with the levequests because upon accepting the rewards from a completed one the available ones get shuffled around randomly so sometimes you might not even see the ones you need from the NPC you're accepting them from and have to complete a different one from the available branch just in the hopes of getting that specific one you need to pop up. Oh and some of those are 5-minute timer ones which don't auto-complete if you killed the required amount of mobs and you have to idle around until the timer runs out.

If it soothens the pain somewhat, I did the ARR relic long ago and after I was done I just spite-tossed it away because I hated the process so much and didn't even think it looked all that great. (No, not even sacrificing it for the first step in HW relic option either) But then I noticed a sidequest that was only available post-completion of the ARR relic which required you to have it equipped. So my autistic ass eventually like half a year later started doing this bullshit all over again just for that one really short quest because I wanted to get that done and over with, and this time I kept the final result stored in the armory chest.

At least it was a different weapon this time.

I never had an issue with the Resistance Weapons. Partly because I was working on the Necromancer title, but also because Bozja itself was popping at the time. AFAIK, it still is.

My enjoyment of the game improved by leaps and bounds the minute I stopped paying attention to NN, or used NN as a way to try and stealth troll if I was bored. It's hard, because you can't do the WoW method of mentioning [current event] in Trade Chat and ghosting. It's tough and honestly isn't worth the effort 99% of the time.

Howard is a schizo ff player who has been posting endless rants about Xenosys for months. Apparently legal action was taken and Xeno has won this case - full video on what happened to come soon.

The tl;dr breakdown is everyone here is retarded, but Howard was unable to contain his schizo sperging. Back in 2017, Howard allegedly posted some pictures in a discord that had to do with ongoing Xeno drama. Xeno kicked the guy and told him to fuck off. Apparently Howard didn't post these, so Xeno invited him back. Howard continued to sperg about this, so Xeno kicked him again.

Since then, for nearly 7 years now, Howard has been making schizo rant videos about Xeno and some other xiv streamers. Some of his points are actually valid, but it's drenched in so much schizo babble that it's painful to listen to. He's the type of guy to sperg about Xeno doxxing his family because someone in Xeno's discord did a public records search on them.

I didn't realize Xeno had a lawsuit out and it looks like this has been behind closed doors. Very curious to see the details on this, sorry if I got anything wrong here.
