More than likely actually. They aren't going to pull the VA for every two months just to record a handful of lines when they can do it in one go while they're already recording other things.

Good thing that XIV already has precedent of switching VAs halfway through (ARR to HW is the most blatant example) and unvoiced scenes are a staple as well.

Gents i havent touched ff14 since february and i know Dawntrail released, can any of you kiwis let me know if Dawntrail is good and if pictomancer is fun since im interested in the job

Yeah, the 6.1 shit is probably already in the bag. I 6.2, though? That's probably up in the air.

This would be a perfect excuse for SE to wipe their hands clean of a lot of awful VA and direction. It'd be great if they went with talent south of the border (which is what they should've done in the first place) just so we can see the troon and that fat asshole who voices Koana politely seethe and dilate because of the moral quandry they'd find themselves in.

Dawntrail's story is a mixed bag. I can't recommend it if you're someone who enjoys the MSQ because there's a lot of problems with it.

Dawntrail's actual content is pretty sweet, though. The dungeons, trials and raids so far are fun and enjoyable.

Pictomancer is fun, as is Viper.

If you're a skip cutscenes person and just care about gameplay, yeah, I'd say it's good. But be prepared to be skipping a LOT of cutscenes. I think it took me about 2.5-3 hours before I got to the first dungeon.

South of the border still has nepo issues and there are enclaves of xir/xers in major urban middle to upper class areas that are likely to have VA people, i wouldnt hold my breath on this

The story is interesting, in that its an interesting idea, but the execution has been terrible.

DT is not your story. It's someone else's story and you're little more than a bystander a solid 80+% of the time.

The content, such as dungeons, trials and raids however, is really damn good.

The Arcadion (raids) is a ton of fun even on normal, and ill personally be chasing Savage for the first time. Hell, Extremes are fun this time too.

That's just in my opinion though.

Ahahahaha don’t worry about striking. Strike forever if you have to
I'm striking for the voice actors too and will not be voicing any characters in any video games. I will also not be taking part in any rocket building operations, open heart surgeries, truck driving, welding or animating for japanese studios.

Not that I ever did nor intended to do any of these things, but fuck it why not, if it's good enough for trooncat it's good enough for me.

They should start higher up too, a retard in a position of power getting their voice-idiots and noncalizators friends in and then they immediately go on strike for m'unions the moment work is done smell like a power play to me.
professional voice acting that no 500-pound amateur recording in their gooncave could ever rival
I'm so glad I swapped to JP voices, not only did I dodge trooncat but it seems I managed to dodge a veritable hail of bullets by doing so. Getting jotaro-voice Zoraal Ja was just icing on that cake.

So last night, I tapped out early. It was so hard to give a shit when nothing has any stakes or consequence, nothing makes any sense, and characters do an about-turn every five seconds about lifelong-held beliefs. It was mostly just exhausting, and makes it hard to summon up the will to keep going.

But I did get something magical in mind from it all. "Why not record the gameplay, just in case inspiration strikes you down the line?" It wound up being much more fun to make a ten-minute shitpost video about this awful story than to slog through it. The upload limits changed at some point, and I'm too lazy to find somewhere else to host it, so I'll just clip it:

I love the sense of progression!

so many memories!

Incredible vocal range!!!

EG, when Emet-Selch, the Emperor and Elidibius (in Zenos' body) have a little powwow. Or when Gosetsu first shows up.
Yeah, I honestly forgot those sequences. Maybe they were less offensive because they were used as suspense-builders, but more likely it was because they were just parts of a story that I actually cared about.
You just know that this has been caused by some DEI consultant hired by Square Enix from California.
It's why they changed it from Beast Tribes, to Allied Tribes, to Allied Societies in Dawntrail.
I don't think the main story changes, or really anything wrong with the core of the plot has anything to do with that. The localization and translation? Well, yes, obviously, but I don't think they need consultants to drink straight from the source.

They do all voicework for entire patch cycles in advance because all of the writing is already done by the time the previous expansion is released for the sake of the cinematic trailer artists.

In other words, when Endwalker released to the public, the plot of Dawntrail was finalized and submitted to the cinematic team to get to work creating the opening sequence for Dawntrail. All voice actors do all the voice work needed in one go as this allows them to pursue other projects for the next two years uninhibited. It is likely that Square Enix has already completed writing for 8.0 and every 7.X patch going forward are just being programmed and tested.

The A Realm Reborn development team did not think Heavensward would exist which is why patch 2.1 was so immense. The game was not designed to last this long.

What we are witnessing is the Marvel Cinematic Universe of Final Fantasy. Another expansion, people will buy it. There will be complaints, but people will buy it and continue to find our next iteration. People will praise it for referencing a better Final Fantasy game. It is apalling these fucktards ever complain about server limitations and budgets when other MMOs do so much more. Final Fantasy XIV is buy to play, subscription only ($12-15/month, even higher than most television streaming services), microtransactions (mogstation), paid promotions (spend $20 on tea), paid shows (multiple trade shows, concerts, conventions), another subscription on the companion app, subscription addons because the game inventory management system and economy is so unintuitive, merchandise (where shipping is not free on their official store with immensely inflated pricing), and expansions ($40) every two years. All this alongside what I can only call malicious sunk cost fallacy enabling by pressuring players to remain subscribed with limited housing and demolition from player inactivity. Achievements like the hunting mounts being insanely unachievable unless players abuse the world travel and instance systems. Square Enix "respects your time", btw.

This game is making absolute bank and the quality of the game and development team efforts do not show it.

My understanding is that Stormblood's 4.X content was significantly changed due to the negative reception of Lyse.

Is this not accurate?

While Lyse disappeared relatively quickly, I’m not entirely sure if it was due to the feedback. It’d be interesting to see just was was originally planned if they did in fact change course

Like roadwork said, there is no way most of the money flooding into XIV is being used on it sadly, SE will cut corners on it till it dies so it as a company doesnt die whenever they fuck up with a pet project like Forespoken

Last thing i remember from dawntrail was the trannny VA that has a furry character that made me recoil so hard that switched to nippon language. Did the VA committed uninstall life.exe or is it still around?

It’d be nice if they gave them ten dollars to create one new model for the game.
