Yeah, it isn't that different from other MMOs but this one seems to attract them a lot. My guess is because it's a Final Fantasy game.

Agreed. Unless I'm mistaken, Emet never actually tells you what exactly Zodiark did to save the "star" ¹ yet he can certainly tell you the (potentially one of many) things Hydaelyn did to (in his words) basically fuck everyone over right along with Zodiark.

It is implied that Zodiark with his godly powers stopped the catastrophe we saw in the last 4.0 dungeon. I don't think we need to really explain the exact details similar to how Louisaix stopped the calamity between 1.X and 2.0. Sure the finer details of that are relevant, but we don't need the exact details. Considering Hydaelyn in her weakended state can stop the purge of light on The 1st, Zodiark being able at his arguable peak stop the end of the world and using Amourat tech repair everything overtime before the world gets broken in 14 isn't that far fetched.

Funny how getting some answers (even if possibly just half-truths) raises questions you never even had before above so many other longstanding issues in terms of urgency, isn't it? Or at least that's where I'm at with it.

The main question I have is why the fuck Hydaelyn refuses to comment on anything? She could have communicated any of this back in HW and she didn't, she just tries to misdirect it towards vague shit like "Zodiark bad, we must stop bad" while ignoring everything else. Like she can't be this oblivious to what is going on, why she refuses to explain any sort of truth or tell us anything is bordering on infuriating. I try to immerse myself in this story and try to sort of put myself in the WoL's shoes and deattach myself from reality into this game, because role playing is fun when it is actual role playing. I'm about ready to quit being the Warrior of Anything until this crystaline bitch explains literally anything.

For the longest time I thought that 3.4's revelations with the Warriors of Darkness meant that light and darkness are in this eternal clash and tipping one too far off causes a catastrophic imbalance, because presumably if the 1st can become this pure light hellzone, why can't The Source? Turns out that isn't really likely to happen because the reason these things happen go beyond just "Light and Dark must be in balance" it goes on meddling on a dramatic scale across multi deminsions by a legion of dark wizard 4D chess masters. So what the fuck? It feels so manipulative to me how vaguely she explains anything. I know she's weak and stuff, but come on.

My friend and I have wracked our brains on that one. If Hydaelyn is the planet we live on..the Source..is that name merely ceremonious? No one has ever referred to Hydaelyn as a planet that we could find at all, yet Emet references the "star" his people lived on constantly. Is the Source and Shards what's left of Emet's star? Or is it merely just some FF word fuckery, you think? Or..?

You can blame Midgardsormr for this fuckery. Midgardsormr claims he came to this "star", as in the implied planet with Eorzea, Othard, and Ilsabard as the current known and relevant major land masses with various nations that are too numerous to name cleanly. He brought with him 7(?) children, I believe they were eggs, that we know as notable characters like Bahamut, Hraesvelger, Tiamat, and Nidhogg. Meaning Midgardsomr was not born on Hydaelyn, he is from somewhere else. Same with Omega presumably considering Midgardsormr claims to have battled Omega in space or something. Don't take my exact word on Omega as I haven't touched Omega's story in forever, but I remember Midgardsormr explaining this somewhere around 2.5 or in early sections of Heavensward. What exactly "Space" is, is beyond me that is an answer I don't think we actually have anywhere been explained what is going on unless it is somewhere in the Omega raid story line.

How any of that ties to the whole shard shit, is completely beyond me.

As for the FFXIV community being full of special retards, FFXIV is just full of weebs and anime degenerates because this game has very japanese art styles, varying degrees of furry races, samurais, is a jrpg, all typical weeb attractors. So naturally you get some cross over with typical degenerate weeb shit. All other anime styled MMOs are korean MMO shit that is a grindy hell storm like Black Desert or some shit that isn't translated. FFXIV is comparatively much easier to get into assuming you don't mind the sub fee and it is on console to attract a much wider range of people.

I always hear about this stuff, yet blessedly never seem to run into it in game (thank Christ). Furries as far as the I can see? Sure. Squeenix enabling degenerate behavior by allowing things like people shouting "<free company> is the place to be for all your naughty needs! blablabla" probably doesn't help things, though in a perfect world I honestly would not even begin to care if that's what consenting adults wanna do amongst themselves.

I'm getting the vibe there's soooo much more going on there that I'd probably be better off not knowing about.

It has..well, entirely too many "furry-friendly" races in it combined with masculine characters being near-impossible to find unless blended with some sort of pretty/ladyboi shit (yes, Estinien, I'm glaring at you). I'm sure there's more, but those features certainly don't help things.

Probably too doom and gloom on my part. Plus there's that whole "Venat" angle that the story seems keen to toy with before the expansion finishes.

Maybe Lyse actually learning what responsibility is. But no, she had to be this plucky air-head bitch that ended up contributing nothing of value. The fact that she was made leader over any number of more qualified characters absolutely grinded my gears. Raubhan, obviously should have gotten it, but even if not, there's a number of others that would fit the bill. M'Naago actually did shit. Meffrid, before he got fucking sliced by Zenos probably could. That old guy who died conveniently to make sure Lyse became leader would have been swell. Hell, I'd take Arenvald, who actually showed up since 2.0 and had a minor role for a bit. But no, every star in the heavens aligned to give the most undeserving skank in the world the position of Ala Mhiggan leader. Absolutely atrocious writing.

Ala Mhiggers deserve everything they got for having Lyse as their new leader.

Yeah I can't agree with Lyse being a leader since she did basically nothing. Raubhan is absolutely the person who should have been the leader as his stake in his homeland is far greater, especially when 4.1 goes over that. I think the majority of actual Ala Mhigans we meet in the story could have far more of a weight in the story then Lyse, and it really feels like Lyse was originally written to be in anything, so they used her for this storyline and just half assed it.

Actually the entire thing of Stormblood felt like a half assed effort, since it really felt like they wanted to tell a story about Gyr Abania but just said "EH FUCK IT LETS DO JAPAN" and put all of their focus into Doma. That's why it's crazy that about 70% of our MSQ in Stormblood takes place in Doma for 4.0 and we only go back to Gyr Abania to have our token battle against Zenos. Then when you think the plot is going to be interesting with Skalla in 4.1 maybe leading to more in Ala Mhigo, we go back to Doma to finish Yotsuyu's story and that's considered the end for Stormblood with everything after being a prelude to Shadowbringers.

I actually gave a shit about Gyr Abania, it was really cool seeing Turkey being a main influence on an entire region, and I actually gave a shit about things for the jobs. I wanted to see more of how the Monks trained, and how Red Magic came to be since it started in Gyr Abania in the Peaks. There was a lot they could do, but they just didn't give it the right treatment, and now whenever we visit Gyr Abania, it's in destroyed battlefields like Ghimlyt Dark and Cinder Drift. They had a lot they could do with the Peaks especially but all you do there honestly is go up the upside down pyramid and Castrum Abania, and you're done. It just feels so pointless to make all of that for one single zone and not fall back on it.

Tbh the trannies are as bad if not worse than the furries. I tried to find a free company to raid with for a bit, but, without fail there'd always be five or six trannies talking about how good it was to be on HRT, they all played healers too, and were without fail, awful at it. Hard not to make fun of them in voice chats too.

So just to confirm, there were several people in the subreddit discord who were sharing lolicon and shota and discord took issue with this? Then they got huffy because they lost their partnership with discord despite them taking action. From what I've read the head moderator seemed to have taken action against this, but yet discord went through with the de-partnership anyway. While that's a shitty situation to be in and more condemnation for the lolicon posters, I don't see where the subreddit openly defended them. Is there more to this story than what the article's stating?

I've noticed there's a disproportionate amount of people who are undergoing or have been through hrt and transitioning and a lot of them are REALLY depressed and place the blame on U.S politics when the reality might be that they secretly regret the transitioning they went through. Though I think the worst experience I've had with a transgender was this one 'girl' who's rumored to pick fights with people and get them banned by reporting them to Squeenix. 'She'll' constantly go in shout chat and taunt people and try to get them to snap and attack her and when they do, she'll report them. She's also been rumored to state she finds it fun which is pretty sociopathic considering this is someone's account they worked hard on. She'll also report you if you stand on top of her character regardless of reason. Regardless of reason even if you happened to leave a dungeon and spawn in and afterwards go AFK.

It's one of the main reasons why I have a difficult time sinking my teeth into the male races in this game. None of them look particularly "masculine" with the exception of highlanders (which look a little too skinny) or roegadyn (which look way too bulky and large to the point where it's difficult to tell if I'm standing in an AOE or not). I think the worst example has to be the Miqo'tes which sport probably the most swishy and girly faces and even have 'ear wiggles' which make me cringe every time I see them. I really hate the cutesy undertones a lot of them possess which is probably why the people who usually play them are batshit insane.

So I settled on hrothgar the 'furry bara' race because their manes look cool and they actually sport a lot of cool voices that doesn't sound squeaky or soylent infused. Not the most shameless of choices, but at least I'm playing something that looks cool and masculinized and not skinny and girly.

It’s a Final Fantasy game. Degenerate weebs come with the territory. Even back in the day FFXI was full of them, I remember so many weeb names during my time there as well as some real creeps. The only difference was back then there was limited to no social media for everyone to air their degeneracy. And no party finders for people to advertise erp. Or advertising pictures of their high quality feet for sale. No joke there is always someone in the party finder doing this.

It also didn't have modding which has been a mixed blessing on this game. Some of the mods look decent (guilty to admit I use them but mainly for texture tweaks) and do actually make the main character models look good, but then you have some that seem to exist solely to sate someone's personal fetish.

Now, to rub salt into the wound, contrast this with how Shadowbringer handled Chai-Nuzz. Dulia-Chai and Chai-Nuzz is really a wholesome, if corny couple. Right, off the bat, we're introduced to him as just the hapless husband of his fat Karen. But where Lyse stagnated and did fuck-all, this guy actually was shown to step up to a role as a leader, first in building the giant ass golem for you to beat the shit out of Vauthry. Then later in 5.2, where he's elected mayor, and goes off on his lonesome to actually do his job as a leader. At each step of the way, he was shown to struggle with the burden of leadership, and overcoming that struggle as part of his arc. His speech at the end was certainly heartfelt, and props to the VA for giving that earnest voice.

For fuck sake, a nobody NPC whom we spent like 10% of our time with in Shadowbringer felt like he earned his role as a leader more than a main character in Stormblood. That's how bad Lyse is.

An FC that invited me is free of the depressed, anxious, and tranny discontents, so I've been enjoying having a small social experience from the game. I used to play MMO games as an escape from the dregs of life, but now that I'm getting back into this I want to have good things come out of the time I put into it. Don't want to have to put up with stupid shit if I don't have to.

I'm making a free company on Aether- Siren meant for Kiwi users, but its in it's infancy right now with no guild home or buffs. I'll probably make a proper invitation in this thread when its more developed and presentable, but would anybody here be interested?
